The growth and development of the body goes through two phases of rapid growth. First phase (0-5 years) and second phase (10-17 years). This study aimed to compare anthropometry and physical abilities between trained and untrained individuals in the second rapid growth phase (adolescence). This research method used analytic observational with cross sectional design. The sample study used adolescents aged 14 years old, consisted of trained adolescent groups (n=25) and untrained adolescent groups (n=32), with categorized throught the International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ). Each group measured height, weight, chest circumference, vital lung capacity (VC), oxygen saturation (SpO2), heart rate resting, heart rate exercise, and VO2Max. The results of the different test between trained and untrained groups with a significance level of p<0.05 showed there were significant differences in body height (p=0.000), VC (p=0.000), SpO2 (p=0,001), heart rate rest (p=0.000), and VO2Max (p=0.000). There were no significant differences in body weight (p=0.053), chest circumference (p=0.226), and heart rate exercise (p=0.242). As a conclusion, anthropometry and physical abilities of trained individuals was greater than the untrained individuals in the second rapid growth phase (adolescence).

Stature and weight are important growth and development traits for animals, which also significantly affect the productivity of livestock. Polymorphic adenoma gene 1 (PLAG1) is located in the growth-related quantitative trait nucleotides (QTN), and its variation has been determined to significantly affect the body stature of bovines. This study found that novel 15-bp InDel could significantly influence important growth traits in goats. The frequencies of genotypes of the 15-bp mutation and relationship with core growth traits such as body weight, body height, height at hip cross, chest circumference, hip width and body index were explored in 1581 individuals among 4 Chinese native goat breeds. The most frequent genotypes of Shaanbei white Cashmere goat (SWCG), Inner Mongolia White Cashmere goat (IMCG) and Guanzhong Dairy goat (GZDG) were II genotypes (insertion/insertion), and the frequency of ID genotype (insertion/deletion) was found to be slightly higher than that of II genotype in Hainan Black goat (HNBG), showing that the frequency of the I allele was higher than that of the D allele. In adult goats, there were significant differences between 15-bp variation and body weight, chest circumference and body height traits in SWCG (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the locus was also found to be significantly correlated with the body index of HNBG (p = 0.044) and hip width in GZDG (p = 0.002). In regard to lambs, there were significant differences in height at the hip cross of SWCG (p = 0.036) and hip width in IMWC (p = 0.005). The corresponding results suggest that the 15-bp InDel mutation of PLAG1 is associated with the regulation of important growth characteristics of both adult and lamb of goats, which may serve as efficient molecular markers for goat breeding.

Objective. To determine the accuracy of the Broselow Tape (BT) versions 2007 and 2011 in estimating weight among pediatric population.Methods.A cross-sectional study was conducted at King Fahad Medical City and six schools across Riyadh province on 1–143-month-old children. BT 2007 and 2011 estimated weights were recorded. Both tapes via the child’s height produce an estimated weight, which was compared with the actual weight.Results.A total of 3537 children were recruited. The height (cm) of the subjects was97.7±24.1and the actual weight (kg) was16.07±8.9, whereas the estimated weight determined by BT 2007 was15.87±7.56and by BT 2011 was16.38±7.95. Across all the five age groups, correlation between actual weight and BT 2007 ranged between 0.702 and 0.788, while correlation between actual weight and BT 2011 ranged between 0.698 and 0.788. Correlation between BT 2007 and BT 2011 across all the five age groups ranged from 0.979 to 0.989. Accuracy of both the tape versions was adversely affected when age was >95 months and body weight was >26 kilograms.Conclusions.Our study showed that BT 2007 and 2011 provided accurate estimation of the body weight based on measured body height. However, 2011 version provided more precise estimate for weight.

Abstract Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze axial length, body height, hand length, and foot length to find new factors that predict myopia and to identify gender differences as one of the factors of high myopia. A cross-sectional study was conducted as a single observation. Body height, hand length, and foot length were measured according to standard anthropometric methods. Axial length, retinal thickness, and choroidal thickness were measured using the IOL Master 700 and the Heidelberg Spectralis-OCT. To account for body height differences among participants, foot length / body height and hand length / body height were analyzed using a mixed-effects model. Results: A total of 80 eyes (men, n=20, 40 eyes; women, n=20, 40 eyes) were analyzed. The mean age was 33.5 years (range 21-59 years, SD: 9.6). For choroidal thickness, there was a significant association with axial length in men (p<0.001) and a trend toward an association in women (p=0.072). There was also a significant association between foot length / body height and axial length in men (p=0.015), but not in women (p=0.58). These results suggest that factors that determine body height and foot length may be related to axial length, although they vary by gender.

Stunting is a nutritional status that is based on the Body Height index by Age (TB / U). The incidence of stunting that has taken place since childhood has a very strong relationship with slow motor and IQ (intelligence) is lower. The level of development of children has a higher quality than normal resources this has increased cognitive levels, poor learning and psychosocial achievement. The purpose of this study is to see whether there is a relationship between stunting events and the level of development of toddlers aged 36-48 months in TK Pertiwi Majene 2019. This type of research is observational analytic research with a cross-sectional study with the method of Exhaustive Sampling and the instruments used are microtome and graphs used. used as a KPSP questionnaire developmental level questionnaire. The sample used was toddlers aged 36-48 months as many as 38 people. The results of the analysis approved by Chi-Square showed rejected with a significant value of 0.37, which means greater than 0.05 (p> 0.05). It is possible to conclude that there is a significant relationship between the incidence of stunting with the level of development of toddlers aged 36-48 months. Suggestions for further researchers to be able to add factors that can influence the occurrence of stunting as well as adding samples to get more significant results.

AbstractLongitudinal studies of aging concerning individuals with comparable lifestyle, diet, health profile, socioeconomic status, and income remain extraordinarily rare. The purposes of our ongoing project are as follows: (i) to collect extensive data on biological and medical aspects of aging in the Polish population, (ii) to determine factors affecting the rate and course of aging, (iii) to understand how aging unfolds as a dynamic and malleable process in ontogeny, and (iv) to find novel predictors of longevity. Our investigation followed 142 physically healthy asylum inmates, including 68 males and 74 females, for at least 25 years from the age of 45 years onward. Cross-sectional assessment involved 225 inmates, including 113 males and 112 females. All the patients lived for a very long time under similar and good environmental conditions at the hospital in Cibórz, Lubuskie Province. They maintained virtually the same daily schedule and lifestyle. The rate and direction of changes with age in selected anthropometric and physiological traits were determined using ANOVA, t-test, and regression analysis. There were sex differences in the rate and pattern of age-related changes in certain characteristics such as relative weight, red blood cell count, monocyte count, thymol turbidity value, systolic blood pressure, and body temperature. Body weight, the body mass index (BMI), and total bilirubin level increased with advancing age, while body height decreased with age in both sexes. In conclusion, the aging process was associated with many regressive alterations in biological traits in both sexes but the rate and pattern of these changes depended on biological factors such as age and sex. There were only few characteristics which did not change significantly during the period under study. On the basis of comparison between the pattern of longitudinal changes with aging and the pattern of cross-sectional changes with age in the analyzed traits, we were able to predict which pattern of changes is associated with longer lifespan.
