Abstract: Problem-based learning model is learning that uses various thinking abilities of students individually or in groups.  The purpose of PBL is to improve the ability to apply concepts to new / real problems, the desire to learn, direct self-learning, and skills.  Critical thinking is thinking reasoned and reflective with an emphasis on making decisions about what to believe or do.  The ability to think critically will arise in students if during the learning process in the classroom, the teacher builds patterns of interaction and communication that emphasizes the process of actively forming knowledge by students.Key words : Problem based learning, critical thinking Abstrak: Model pembelajaran berbasis masalah merupakan pembelajaran yang menggunakan berbagai kemampuan berpikir peserta didik secara individu maupun kelompok. Tujuan PBL adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dalam menerapkan konsep-konsep pada permasalahan baru/nyata, keinginan dalam belajar, mengarahkan belajar diri sendiri, dan keterampilan. Berpikir kritis  adalah  berpikir  secara  beralasan  dan  reflektif  dengan menekankan  pada  pembuatan  keputusan  tentang  apa  yang  harus dipercayai  atau  dilakukan.  Kemampuan  berpikir  kritis  akan muncul dalam diri siswa apabila selama proses pembelajaran di dalam kelas, guru membangun  pola  interaksi  dan  komunikasi  yang  lebih  menekankan  pada  proses pembentukan  pengetahuan  secara  aktif  oleh  siswa.Kata Kunci : Problem Based Learning, Berpikir Kritis

The aim of this study is to improve students' critical thinking skills through a problem based learning model in class IV SDN Ende 1. The type of research used in this study is classroom action research consisting of several interrelated cycles and the model chosen in this study is a Kemis and Mc Tagart model which consists of several stages namely planning, action, observation and reflection, where actions and observations are carried out together. The subjects of this study were 21 students in class IV SDN Ende 1. Based on the results of data analysis in classroom action research shows that the learning feasibility by applying the learning model Problem Based Learning has increased namely 81.5% in the first cycle and 94% in the second cycle, therefore it can be said that the learning process has been carried out very well and in accordance with the reference in the lesson plan that has been made. While the results of observations of student activities during learning by applying  model of problem based learning have increased, which is proved by the increase in the average score of student learning activities in the first cycle by 55% and the second cycle by 87%. This improvement shows that during the learning process students were actively involved in solving problems. The results of the students’ critical thinking ability test of the first cycle can be seen that, there are 9 students or 43% who reach the KKM standard, while 12 students or 57% do not reach the value of 70 in accordance with the minimum completeness criteria set by the school. While the second cycle is known that as many as 21 students (100%) have succeeded and reached the indicator of critical thinking. The highest score obtained by student is 90 and the lowest score is 70 with an average value of 80% in the critical category. Therefore, the implementation of research by applying the problem based learning model ends in the second cycle . So, through research that has been done, by applying the Problem Based Learning model it is proven that it can improve the critical thinking skills of class IV students whose critical thinking test results are complete or meet the minimum completeness criteria (KKM).

The problem at SMK Dwijendra Denpasar in PPKn is that students are less active in critical thinking and less active in expressing opinions. The success in PPKn learning lies in the use of the learning model. The problem-based learning model has specifications that can train students to actively think critically in solving problems, and dare to express opinions. The purpose of this research is to determine the application of problem-based learning models to improve students 'critical thinking skills in PPKn subjects and to find out the obstacles in applying problem- based learning models to improve students' critical thinking skills in PPKn subjects. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The research location is at SMK Dwijendra Denpasar. Observation data collection techniques, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using an interactive data analysis model that was carried out through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions / verification. The results of the study showed that the application of problem-based learning model based on problems to improve students' critical thinking skills in Pancasila and civics education subjects had been implemented in accordance with the learning implementation plan. The application of problem-based learning models to improve students 'critical thinking skills improves students' critical thinking skills, increases student learning activities, and increases responsibility attitudes. Obstacles in the application of the based learning model are less learning time, less education to be a good facilitator at the group guidance stage, and to students who are less active in group discussions. The suggestion that can be given is that the school needs to conduct socialization so that it is more optimal for the application of problem-based learning models, for teachers to be more able to increase creativity in the use of learning models, to be more efficient in the time available during the teaching and learning process, as well as during the learning process. actively guiding students in group discussions.

The low understanding of the students on the biology materials in the learning process of science causes the students' repetition value to be low. With by this background the aim of this research was to know the cognitive ability and critical thinking ability of students who in their learning process apply Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model by using exelearning. The sample in this research is 40 students of class VIII in MTs Negeri 2 Cirebon. The sampling technique used in determining the sample was Purposive random sampling. This research uses experimental method with one class given treatment and other class not given treatment that acts as control. From the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that the cognitive ability and critical thinking ability of students using PBL (Problem Based Learning) model with exelearning assistance was superior compared to using the lecture model on the concept of human excretion system. The improvement of students' cognitive ability in the experimental class seen from the N-Gain value reached 0.73 (high) compared to the control class which only reached 0.13 (low). As for the increase gain N-Gain value of 0.71 (height) and control class reaches the value of 0.25 (low)Keywords: Problem Based Learning Model (PBL);� Exelearning; Cognitive Ability; Critical Thinking Skill

This writing aims to help teachers to increase motivation, activity, creativity, and critical thinking of students in solving problems in class. The way to increase student motivation in learning in class is to choose the right learning model with ongoing learning material. One learning model that increases students' creativity and critical thinking in problem solving is a Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. To improve students' insights in order to easily solve problems there is a need to do tasks, if students do not do the task then they must accept the agreed upon consequences when making learning contracts, thus modifying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with task strategies and forced. The results of the modification of learning with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model through forced and forced strategies are expected to improve the learning process so that students become more disciplined and do not waste time doing assignments. The advantages of modifying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with task and forced learning strategies are increasing student learning motivation, improving the quality of learning, training students' understanding by giving assignments continuously, teaching discipline to students in order to be accountable for tasks assigned, and reducing laziness in students.

The purpose of this reaserch are (1) find differences influence model of Group Investigation (GI) and Problem Based Learning (PBL). (2) find differences influence learning motivation of students to critical thinking abilities of learners. (3) find the interaction effect between learning models and learning motivation of the critical thinking skills of learners. This study will be conducted in SMA Martapura, Banjar regency, South Kalimantan. Subjects of the study were students of class XI SMA Martapura academic year 2015/2016. This type of research to be carried out in this study is a quantitative study using experimental methods. Design of this research is 2 X 2 factorial design to data collection technique motivation questionnaire and tests critical thinking skills. The result, 1) There is a difference between the positive influence of the Model Group Investigation (GI) and Problem Based Learning (PBL). 2) There are differences positively influence the motivation of students to critical thinking ability of students in learning the history. 3) There are nointeractions influence student learning model and motivation for students' critical thinking skill There is no interaction effect Learning Model and the Motivation of students' critical thinking skills of students in Learning Historys. Innovation is needed in learning to make meaningful learning, so the student constructs their ownknowledge from the learning experience of learning process. One of the innovations is to integrate Problem Based Learning model. Problem Based Learning involves students to be active in every problem. Eleven problems type in Problem Based Learning that have different solving steps, due to every student different metacognition character potential and can change by given treatment. This research is a pre-experimental design: the pretest-posttest control and experimental group design with embedded experimental design. The metacognition character data were analyzed qualitaively, whereas the average grade data were analyzed quantitatively. The analysis of metacognition character shows the different metacognition characters and on learning process there is improvement of student achievement from 14% to 84.4%.

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in Civics in 5th grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Kauman, Yogyakarta using Problem Based Learning model. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of the study were 5th grade students of B1 SD Muhammadiyah Kauman. The object of research is the whole process and the results of learning Civics with the application of Problem Based Learning model. This research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah Pakel Yogyakarta in April until May 2017. Data collection techniques used were observation, diary, interview and test. Data analysis technique is done descriptively qualitative. This research was conducted in 2 cycles by applying problem based learning model. The learning steps that were implemented were changes in the delivery of the subject matter, the students analyzed the problem, the formation of the discussion group with the grouping of students based on their achievement, the students in group for discussion, the group members delivered the discussion result in front of the class.The results showed that the critical thinking ability of the 5th grade students of B1 SD Muhammadiyah Kauman, Yogyakarta increased after the use of Problem Based Learning model in Civics learning with the subject matter of the example of central and regional legislation. This improvement is evident in the improvement of students' critical thinking skill test result from 12.90% pretreatment score to 51.61% (enough) in cycle I and increased to 70.96% (good) in cycle II. The results of activity observations related to students' critical thinking skills are increased among others: active students in learning, students more freely in finding and collecting desired information, and students also have more opportunities to learn with friends.

<p class="E-JOURNALTitleEnglish">Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) perbedaan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan regulasi diri siswa antara kelas yang diajar dengan menggunakan <em>problem based leaning</em> dan kelas yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran ekspositori dan (2) pengaruh penerapan <em>problem based learning</em> terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan regulasi diri siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SD Santo Vincentius Jakarta. Pada kelas eksperimen, pembelajaran IPA dilaksanakan dengan model <em>problem based learning</em>, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol dengan  pembelajaran yang biasa digunakan oleh guru yaitu pembelajaran ekspositori. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah (1) tes untuk mengukur keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa ditinjau dari aspek kognitif, (2) skala perilaku untuk mengukur keterampilan berpikir kritis ditinjau dari aspek perilaku dan regulasi diri siswa. Analisis data menggunakan (1) statistik deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan data keterampilan berpikir kritis dan regulasi diri siswa, dan (2) statistik infe-rensial dengan menggunakan uji t sampel bebas dan uji MANOVA untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian dengan taraf signifikansi 5% (α = 0,05). This research is a quasi-experimental research study. The population of this research is all 5th graders of St. Vincentius, Jakarta. In the experimental class, science study was done by problem-based learning model, while in the control class by expository learning model. The instruments used are (1) a test to measure students’ critical thinking skill reviewed from the cognitive aspect, (2) a scale of behavior to measure critical thinking skill reviewed from the behavioral aspect and students’ self-regulation. Data analysis used (1) descriptive statistics to describe the data of students’ critical thinking skill and self-regulation, and (2) inferential statistic by using independent sample t-test and MANOVA test to test the hypothesis of research with the significance level of 5% (α = 0,05).The results of this reseach have shown that: (1) there is a difference between the student’s critical thinking skills of the classes taught using problem based learning and expository learning, with sig 0.040; (2) there is a difference between the student’s self regulation of the classes taught using problem based learning and expository learning, with sig 0.005; (3) the application of problem-based learning positively and significantly influences students’ critical thinking skill dan self regulation, with sig 0.021.</p> <strong>Keywords</strong>: problem-based learning, expository learning, critical thinking skill, self-regulation.<br />
