Anemia is one of the many problems that occur in pregnant women in developing countries. First trimester pregnant women often experience nausea and vomiting that can affect the pattern of eating that is received. The purpose of this study was to determine whether nutritional intake and nausea and vomiting disorders in first trimester pregnant women were associated with anemia. The sample of this study was all first trimester pregnant women, selected by quota sampling technique. The research design used in this study was cross sectional, which aims to examine the correlation between nutrient intake (iron, protein, and vitamin C) and nausea and vomiting disorders with anemia. The instrument used to determine the intake of iron, protein, vitamin C was food records that were filled by respondents for 3 days. To test the hypothesis of the relationship used the chi square test and Fisher's exact test. From the results of the analysis of the relationship between iron intake, Vitamin C and nausea and vomiting with anemia, p-value = 0.003, p-value = 0.001 and p-value 0.001, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between iron intake, vitamin C and vomiting nausea with the incidence of anemia in first trimester pregnant women (first). While the results of the analysis of the relationship of protein intake with anemia obtained p-value = 0.806, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between protein intake and the incidence of anemia in first trimester pregnant women (first). The mean intake of iron, protein, and vitamin C in first trimester pregnant women both in the anemic and non-anemic groups had a daily intake that was still far from the nutritional adequacy standard set by the government that the RDA of iron was 26 g / dL / day Protein was 76 mg / day and Vit C is 70-85 mg / day. The effect of global change on the incidence of vector borne diseases including malaria is of great importance. Malaria has been regarded as one of the most sensitive disease that responds fast to climate change. Pregnant women tend to have reduced immunity are more vulnerable to vector borne diseases such as malaria especially with climate change like flooding where these vectors borne diseases are endemic. To measure malaria parasitaemia in gravid women pre and post flooding and also to determine the relationship between malaria and seasonal flooding in South east Nigeria. This was a hospital-based cross-sectional study involving pregnant women aged 15- 45 years attending the antenatal clinics of two maternity centres in a rural community South east Nigeria. Malaria was determined using the thick and thick blood films. Plasmodium falciparum species was examined in this study. Chi-square was used to assess the relationship between malaria and seasonal flooding. One Hundred and fifty pregnant women were recruited for the study. The prevalence of malaria in the gravid women pre and post flooding were 60.00% and 65.30% respectively. Malaria parasite was highest in the gravid women aged 28-31 years and the primigravids. There was no statistical difference between malaria and parity. The mean parasite density in the gravid women was significantly higher post flooding than pre flooding with p-value of 0.001. There was no significant relationship between malaria parasite in gravid women and the periods of investigation. The prevalence of malaria parasite among gravid women in the study area is high regardless of the seasonal flooding. Hence, the need for adherence to malaria prophylaxis protocol by the health care professionals and increase on community health education on malaria preventive strategies.

Pregnant women are one of the vulnerable groups. During pregnancy, there is an increase in the need for nutrients to meet the needs of the mother and fetus as well as preparation for labor. It is very important to pay attention to the recommended weight gain during pregnancy to prevent the occurrence of low birth weight. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between energy, carbohydrate, fat, and protein intake on weight gain of pregnant women in the city of Bengkulu. The design of this study was a cross-sectional study with a total sample of 47 pregnant women who had received an education of the first thousand days of life when registering to become a prospective bride at the Religious Affairs Office. As many as 53.2% of mothers had good weight gain and had a relationship between energy intake (p-value 0,032), carbohydrate intake (p-value 0,024), protein intake (p-value 0,039), and fat intake (p-value 0,023). Energy and macronutrients have a relationship with the weight gain of pregnant women in the group of preconception couples who have received education about the first 1000 days of life. It is hoped that pregnant women will be able to control their weight during pregnancy and apply the knowledge that has been obtained through education while preconception age.
