This study was qualitative content analysis that evaluated the quality of English for University Teaching (EUT), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) textbooks through impressionistic and in-depth analysis.   The participants were 9 EAP teachers and 15 EAP students from three universities in Surakarta, Indonesia. Instruments to collect data were checklist and interview guide. The checklist consisted of impressionistic analysis to see (1) cover, (2) content scope, (3) learning activities, (4) book organization, and (5) layout; and the in-depth analysis, namely (1) aim and approach, (2) organization design, language and content, (3) language skills, and (4) practical consideration. Data were collected using checklist and Focus Group Discussion. Data were analyzed through summative content analysis with seven stages: transforming data into narrative text, determining unit of analysis, developing categories, coding, coding the entire text, checking consistency of coding, and drawing conclusion. Results show EUT and ESP have low quality based on the impressionistic evaluation, and fair quality of their in-depth evaluation.  Both books are register and grammar oriented.  EAP textbook is good in general, and very good in depth.  EAP presents its contents in terms of genre reading, academic speaking, academic reading, academic writing and grammar.

This study aims to discuss the effectiveness of the Grammarly online application in improving academic writing through the experience of reviewing published papers. For that, we have reviewed a variety of literature and listened to the experiences of other academics published in various international journals. We chose descriptive qualitative content analysis. For example, it involves an in-depth analysis of each expert's experience with an exploratory phenomenological approach. To do this, we involve a coding analysis system, critically evaluate the content and ensure the results are valid and reliable. As for literature sources, we do with the help of the Google Doc application, Eric Publications, Google scholars, and other online literature sources. We do this considering that we did this study in a dynamic era and responded to the pandemic protocol and public restriction in Indonesia. We follow the guidelines of descriptive qualitative studies experts in academic writing and application technology. The result is that most academics say that the Grammarly online application is very suitable for use by writers because its usefulness is beneficial in tracking writing errors.

Gambling habits of people aged 55 years and over without gambling problems are rarely being investigated. In order to document life events and to identify the impacts of gambling on quality of life, 19 participants aged 55 to 74 years without gambling problems, male and female, were assembled in three focus groups. Qualitative content analysis of the groups reveals changes in gambling habits associated with transition to retirement and occurrence of health problems. The content analysis further reveals a variety of positive and negative consequences of gambling habits on finances, hobbies, social relationships, and psychological health. Although the focus groups did not target the structural or environmental characteristics of gambling that influence participants' gambling habits, those themes were brought up spontaneously. Results highlight the necessity to study life events from a larger perspective including, for example, protective and risk factors, in order to better understand the life contexts and the individual characteristics that may lead to an alteration or not of gambling habits.

Abstract Background: Nursing homes are under strong pressure to provide good care to the residents. In Norway, municipalities have applied the ‘Joy-of-Life-Nursing-Home’ strategy to increase a health-promoting perception that focuses on the older persons` resources. Implementations represent introducing changes to the healthcare personnel; however, changing one’s working approaches, routines and working culture may be demanding. On this background, we explored how the ‘Joy-of-Life-Nursing-Home’ strategy is perceived by the employees in retrospective, over a period after the implementation and which challenges the employees experience with this implementation.Method: We used a qualitative approach and interviewed 14 healthcare personnel working in nursing homes in one Norwegian municipality, which had implemented the ‘Joy-of-Life-Nursing-Home’ strategy. The analysis was conducted following Kvale’s approach to qualitative content analysis.Results: The main categories were: (a) the characteristics of care activities before implementations of ‘Joy-of-Life-Nursing-Home’, (b) how ‘Joy-of-Life-Nursing-Home’ influenced the care activities, and (c) challenges with the implementation of ‘Joy-of-Life-Nursing-Home’. Some of the informants spoke well about the implementation concerning the care quality stating “to see the joy in the eyes of the resident then I feel we have succeeded”. For informants who experienced resistance toward the implementation, they felt it was too much to document, it was too complicated, and the requirements were too many. Conclusions: Quality of care seems to have increased after the implementation, as perceived by the informants. Nevertheless, the fact that the informants seemed to be divided into two different groups related to their main perspective of the implementation is concerning. One group has positive experiences with the implementations process and the benefits of it, while the other group focuses on lack of benefits and problems with the implementation process. In order to understand what facilitates and hinders the implementation, research on contextual factors like work environment and leadership is recommended.

Background and Aim. Reflection is known as a skill that is central to nursing students’ professional development. Due to the importance and the role of reflection in clinical areas of nursing, it is important to know how to achieve it. However, nursing trainers face the challenge of how to help their students to improve reflection in clinical settings. The aim of this study was to investigate the nursing students’ experiences of facilitating reflection during clinical practice. This qualitative study was conducted by qualitative content analysis approach. Twenty nursing students during the second to eighth semester of their educational program were selected for participation using purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth semistructured interviews. The interview was transcribed verbatim, and qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the data. From the data analysis, four main themes were extracted. Motivation to reflect, complex experiences, efficient trainer, and effective relations were four main themes obtained from study that, in interaction with each other, had facilitating roles in students’ reflective process on experiences. The findings revealed that the nursing students’ reflection in clinical settings is effective in personal and professional level. Reflection of nursing students depends on motivational and educational factors and these factors increase the quality of care in patients. Furthermore, nursing educators need to create nurturing climate as well as supporting reflective behaviors of nursing students.

Restaurants are constantly adapting towards customers’ wants and needs. Vegan restaurants have become increasingly popular, particularly in Melbourne, which is one of the fastest growing vegan markets in the world. While there is literature and evidence of restaurant selection factors in general restaurants, there are no specific studies in vegan restaurants. The aim of this study is to determine the customer restaurant selection factors in vegan restaurants by way of a qualitative content analysis of 5 popular Melbourne vegan restaurants with 10 reviews each. This study found that similar to general restaurants that serve meat, vegan restaurants are chosen mainly because of their food quality and service quality. Vegan restaurants must continue to build on the quality of their food and prioritize putting the same amount of focus on service quality, as poor service quality can completely tarnish the entire dining experience.

This study aims to identify the impact of translation techniques on translation quality in the novel “Anne of Green Gables.” It is a qualitative research-oriented translation study. The data were collected by content analysis and focus group discussion. The result of this research shows that there are seven translation techniques used to translate the metaphor of modality; they are established equivalence, modulation, deletion, paraphrase, compensation, implicitation and discursive creation. In addition, the translation techniques that contributed positively to the translation quality are established equivalence, compensation, modulation and implicitation. Meanwhile, paraphrase, deletion and discursive creation decreased the translation quality in accuracy, acceptability and readability aspects.

The aim of this research is to gain the perception of students and lecturers toward academic writing instruction Indonesian language classes in Universitas Sriwijaya. This current research was a part of research and development study on Moodle-based teaching model for academic writing instruction in Indonesian language classes. The steps of research and development model was carried out using survey and content analysis. The research was conducted in Universitas Sriwijaya. Questionnaire, interview and focus-group discussion (FGD) were instruments to collect data. Meanwhile, both quantitative and qualitative data analysis was used to analyze the collected data. After analyzing data from questionnaire, both students and lecturers perceived that academic writing instruction in Indonesian language classes are good and proper. However, the data from interview and FGD showed that there were different views between students and lecturers regarding to academic writing instruction in Indonesian language classes.Keywords: perception, instruction, academic writing

The emerging complex challenges confronting public administration (PA) leaders are used as reasons for rethinking the quality of PA education throughout the world. However, it is not clear what PA scholars mean when they use the word ‘challenge’ when rethinking the curricula of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) programmes globally. The questions this study set to answer were: what are the defining characteristics of the concept corresponding to those objects referred to as ‘challenges’ for MPA graduates to meet, and what are their implications for MPA curriculum standards? In an effort to answer these questions, a concept analysis of the concept ‘challenge’ within the context of PA and MPA curricula was done. For this purpose, three scholarly journals, as well as three operational documents, were purposefully selected for qualitative content analysis. The concept analysis showed that ‘challenge’ within the context of the MPA curriculum is characterised by being a PA task, its wickedness, and the required capabilities for public sector managers to undertake that task. The study found that due to the inherent wickedness of challenges, MPA curricula have to instil a capability in graduates for independent and autonomous thinking amidst a diversity of perspectives and settings.

Abstract.EVALUATION OF QUALITY INDICATORS OF THE SATISFACTION OF THE DEGREES OF EDUCATION OF THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND HUMANITIES OF MELILLA THROUGH THE CONTENT ANALYSISThis work focuses on the evaluation of quality through the satisfaction of training of the education students of Melilla, the method to be used will be the content analysis by procedures systematic and objective description of the content of the messages, allowing the inference of knowledge related to production / reception conditions (social context) of these messages (Bardin, 1996: 32, Berrocal and Megías, 2015, Buendía, 2010), of instruments and existing, and with which the evaluations of the degrees are currently carried out, in the University of Granada, carrying out an exhaustive analysis of the system of indicators proposed by ANECA (National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation) and the Vice-Rector's Office for the Guarantee of Quality of the University of Granada, and, on the other hand, establishing comparisons of the criteria of analysis of quality indicators in several national and international universities. After the analysis we can conclude that, in general, the indicators to be evaluated are not based on evidence of user satisfaction, based on the documents on the evaluation of university teaching quality, and, depending on the content analysis, we can propose a series of indicators that allow to evaluate the quality of the Training of the Degrees of Education externally, trying to improve the criteria of effectiveness and efficiency.Keywords: Content analysis, University Higher Education, ANECA, Evaluation.Resumen.Este trabajo se centra en la evaluación de la calidad a través de la satisfacción de la formación del alumnado de educación de Melilla, el método a utilizar será el análisis de contenido por procedimientos sistemáticos y objetivos de descripción del contenido de los mensajes, permitiendo la inferencia de conocimientos relativos a las condiciones de producción/recepción (contexto social) de estos mensajes (Bardin, 1996: 32; Berrocal y Megías, 2015; Buendía, 2010), de instrumentos ya existentes, y con los que actualmente se realizan las evaluaciones de los grados, en la Universidad de Granada, realizando un análisis exhaustivo del sistema de indicadores propuesto por la ANECA (Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación) y del Vicerrectorado de Garantía de la Calidad de la Universidad de Granada, y, por otro lado, estableciendo comparativas de los criterios de análisis de los indicadores de calidad en varias universidades tanto nacionales como internacionales. AbstractDaily routine on Sunday is changing. Formerly a day of religious contemplation, Sunday seems to be a day of rest within the family. Does this change in activities done on a typical Sunday imply an end of spiritual quality? To answer this question this paper conceptualizes spirituality as experience of connectedness to some greater reality which is regarded as important and meaningful. Four options are possible concerning this greater reality: a transcendent reality, nature or cosmos, mankind, or the individual’s self. The data has been collected by semi-structured interview and analyzed by qualitative content analysis. 148 individuals did take part in these interviews (57% females, age range: 7 to 59; 64% Catholics and 22% Protestants). The findings point at Sunday spent with family. Further on we could identify activities representing all four types of spirituality. Together these examples point at the conclusion that Sunday still is a special day within the week. Its activities offer spiritual quality, but it is the individual to reassure it.
