Secara bersama-sama, ketiga variabel tersebut berkontribusi terhadap 64,3% kematian ibu yang terjadi di Kabupaten Pati Tahun 2011.Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) of Pati Regency fluctuated and showed the highest state in 2011 with 126 per 100.000 live births. This research aimed to describe maternal mortality cases in Pati Regency and to analyze risk factors of maternal mortality happened in 2011. This research used observational analysis, i.e. cases control study. The number of samples was 24 in each of case group and control group. Data was analyzed with univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. This research resulted that three major causes of maternal mortality were heart disease, preeclampsia/eclampsia, and hemorrhage. Maternal mortality spread on 16 from 21 sub-districts on Pati Regency and the majority of them happened in post delivery period. Logistic regression analysis concluded that risk factors influenced maternal mortality were pregnancy complication (OR = 12.198, p value = 0.010), delivery complication (OR = 9.94, p value = 0.020) and history of illness (OR = 27.735, p value = 0.011). Collectively, those variables contributed to 64.3% of maternal mortality in Pati Regency 2011.

Background: A significant percent of cardiovascular event occurs without well-known modifiable risk. A new tool for early identification for atherosclerosis is required for early intervention. Aims and objectives of the study was to study the risk factors for CAD and its correlation with CIMT.Methods: One hundred and forty subjects were studied for the risk factors of CAD in Department of Medicine of G.R. Medical College, Gwalior from 2012 to 2013. Out of 140 subjects, 100 were patients having CAD and 40 age matched subjects were included as control group. Data was also recorded from their offspring. High resolution B mode ultrasonography was performed to assess CIMT of carotid arteries. The maximum CIMT of any one side of carotid artery was taken for study. Results: CAD was more prevalent among males (78%). Majority of the offspring of cases had age between 28-42 years and majority were male (73%). Most common risk factors for CAD was dyslipidemia (48%), hypertension (24%), diabetes (12%) and smoking (21%), whereas in offspring’s of CAD patients, dyslipidemia was seen in 28%, hypertension in 3%, diabetes and tobacco smoking in 12% and 24% respectively. The CIMT of CAD patients was significantly increased with increasing the number of risk factors and the same pattern was also seen in controls.  The CIMT of asymptomatic offspring’s having positive family history was significantly more than the asymptomatic offspring without positive family history of CAD.Conclusions: CIMT measurements can be used as a surrogate marker of atherosclerosis as it has showed a direct link with number of risk factors of CAD.

Background. Gross motor is one of the skill domain with the highest parental concern as mastering it determines the autonomy of a child. Several internal risk factors including perinatal asphyxia, prematurity, low birth weight, wide fontanelle, and microcephaly have been studied in predicting gross motor delay with varied results. This study is made to arrange a strategic intervention on the prevention of delayed development. Objective. To evaluate perinatal asphyxia, gestation age <37 weeks, birth weight <2500 grams, microcephaly, and wide fontanelle as predictors of gross motor delay in children aged 6-24 months. Methods. A case control study design was used. Data collection was conducted by direct assessment of gross motor skill and parents’ interview in Cipto Mangunkusumo National Hospital and Anakku Clinic, South Jakarta. Children with gross motor delay were included in the case group and children with normal gross motor were included in the control group. Data was analyzed using bivariate and multivariate analysis with a statistical significance value of P<0.05 and 95% confidence intervals. Results. One hundred and twenty-six subjects were studied, with 63 children in the case group and 63 children in the control group. Baseline characteristics of subjects were similar between the two groups. Microcephaly and gestation age <37 weeks were predictors of gross motor delay [(aOR 4.613 (95% CI 95 2.023 to 10.521, P<0.001) and (aOR 3.668 (95% CI 1.153 to 11.673, P=0.028), respectively]. Conclusion. Microcephaly and gestation age <37 weeks are significant predictors of gross motor delay in children aged 6-24 months.

Mortality towards pregnant and maternity women still turns out to be a great problem in Indonesia. According to Indonesia’s Demographic and Health survey in 2012, Indonesia as the country with the highest mortality rate in Southeast Asia. Maternal mortality has short-term and long-term consequences, and those consequences are more significant than mother’s non-maternal mortality of women with reproductive age. Maternal mortality causes the shifting of parenting towards toddlers who are left behind. This can increase the risks of developmental disorders towards toddlers due the lack of focus of the caregivers on the toddlers, consequently the stimulation will be reduced as well. This research aims to analyze whether maternal mortality increases the risks of developmental disorders towards toddlers. The method was using comparative study with retrospective cohort study approach. The research subjects were 41 toddlers who experienced maternal mortality in Probolinggo Regency (case group), and 41 toddlers who did not experience maternal mortality (control group). On the samples, the assessment of the suitability of development stages based on age appropriate KPSP forms. The statistical examination indicates that there is a difference of developmental disorder between case group and control group with p = 0,023 (<0,05), and RR = 2,5. Research conclution indicates that maternal mortality increases the risks of developmental disorder towards toddlers by 2,5 times.

Aim. To identify risk factors for mycoplasma pneumonia at the outbreak of respiratory mycoplasmosis in the children’s collective using a comprehensive statistical analysis. Methods. 120 children aged 12-15 years from the focus of respiratory mycoplasmosis outbreak were observed. They were divided into two groups: study group - 33 children with mycoplasma pneumonia, and control group - 56 children from the focus of infection, 14 of which during the observation period had no disease simptoms, and 42 children had other forms of respiratory mycoplasmosis. Results. 6 factors influencing the development of mycoplasma pneumonia were identified in children from the focus of respiratory mycoplasmosis outbreak. The correlation analysis was performed and one-dimensional models of the chance of developing pneumonia were constructed by calculating odds ratios. Past history of pneumonia increases the risk for pneumonia by 23.46 times, passive smoking in a child - by 2.77 times. At the same time, emergency prevention with immunotropic drugs reduces the risk for pneumonia by 8.93 times, daily walking - by 3.31 times, walking for more than 2 hours - by 3.83 times, increasing fruit in the diet - by 3.09 times and taking multivitamins - by 2.56 times compared to cases when these measures were not taken. The binary logistic regression was calculated to build a multidimensional research model. The sensitivity of this model was 87.88%, specificity - 91.07%. Conclusion. At the outbreak of respiratory mycoplasmosis the risk factors for the development of mycoplasmal pneumonia are pneumonia in past medical history, smoking in a child’s family; preventive measures are long-term daily exposure to fresh air, emergency prevention with immunotropic, complex multivitamin preparations with trace elements and lactic acid bacteria, dietary intake corrected for fruit intake.
