Abstrak: Kegelisahan akademik dalam makalah ini adalah lemahnya proses berpikir peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Maka penelitian ini  bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas eksperimen sebelum dan setelah diterapkan Brain Based Learning, menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas kontrol sebelum dan setelah diterapkan pembelajaran konvensional, dan menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Populasinya adalah mahasiswa semester 3 Program Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam STAIN Curup. Teknik samplingnya yaitu cluster sampling. Teknik pengumpulan datanya menggunakan tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan teknik analisis datanya menggunakan uji t (Independent-Sample T Test). Hasil penelitiannya pertama, terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas eksperimen sebelum dan setelah diterapkan Brain Based Learning. Kedua, terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas kontrol sebelum dan setelah diterapkan pembelajaran konvensional. Ketiga, hasil uji hipotesis pre-test tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Sedangkan hasil pengujian hipotesis post-test terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. ملخص: يجري هذا البحث في تخصص التربية الإسلامية في الجامعة الإسلامية الحكومية بجورب لتحليل فرق كفاءة التفكير النقدي بين المجموعة التجريبية والمجموعة الضابطة. طريقة البحث المستخدمة في هذا البحث هي الطريقة الكمية. ونوع الطريقة المستخدم هو طريقة التجريبية بتصميم شبه التجريبي مجموعة الضابطة غير معادل. نتائج البحث تدل على أولا، الإختبار القبلي عن تفكير نقدي الطلاب في المجموعة التجريبية هو كاف. وقيمة متوسطة في الإختبار البعدي هي جيد جدا. ثانيا، الإختبار القبلي عن تفكير نقدي الطلاب في المجموعة الضابطة هو كاف. والإختبار البعدي هو جيد. ثالثا، نتيجة اختبار الفرضي للإختبار القبلي عن تفكير نقدي الطلاب في المجموعة التجريبية والمجموعة الضابطة بعينة مستقبلة اختبار ت تحصل ٢،٣٠٣ ( لذلك الفرض الصفري هو مقبول و الفرض المباشر هو غير < على قيمة تحساب > تجدول ) 0.154مقبول. ونتيجة اختبار الفرضي للإختبار البعدي عن تفكير نقدي الطلاب في المجموعة التجريبية والمجموعة٢،٣٠٣ ( لذلك الفرض الصفري هو غير مقبول و < الضابطة تحصل على قيمة تحساب < تجدول ) 243.8 الفرض المباشر هو مقبول.

Abstract:This study aimed to (1) produce a module of children literature based on nationalism character to improve the critical thinking ability of the fourth grade students of MIN Boyolali, and (2) measure the effectiveness of the module used in classroom toward critical thinking ability of the fourth grade students of MIN Boyolali. Set within the research and development type, this study adapted the development procedure formulated by Borg and Gall (1983). Data were collected through interview and observation, product validation, questionnaire of the teacher and the students’ response, and the result of pre-test and post-test which was analyzed using independent sample t-test. Meanwhile, the effectiveness was tested through quasi experiment. The result of the research showed that the module was categorized as “fit” by material and language expert; while the media expert categorized it as "very fit". In the other hand, the teacher and the students’ responses to the use of learning module were categorized as "excellent". Further, the output of the independent sample t test showed that the module was effective to improve the students' critical thinking skills.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menghasilkan modul sastra anak berdasarkan karakter nasionalisme untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV MIN Boyolali, dan (2) mengukur efektivitas modul yang digunakan di kelas terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV MIN Boyolali. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian pengembangan yang mengadaptasi prosedur pengembangan yang dirumuskan oleh Borg dan Gall (1983). Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi, validasi produk, kuesioner dari guru dan respon siswa, dan hasil pre-test dan post-test yang dianalisis menggunakan independent sample t-test. Sementara itu, keefektifannya diuji melalui eksperimen semu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul dikategorikan “cocok” oleh ahli materi dan bahasa; sedangkan pakar media mengategorikannya "sangat pas". Di sisi lain, respons guru dan siswa terhadap penggunaan modul pembelajaran dikategorikan "sangat baik". Selanjutnya, hasil dari uji t sampel independen menunjukkan bahwa modul ini efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa

<p>This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Predict Observe Explain Write on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013. This study was a quasi experiment research. Posstet only nonequivalent control group design is used in this research. The population of research was all X grades of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013 consisiting 285 students. Cluster sampling.is used to this research. The result of cluster sampling is choosen for X6 as experimental gruop and X7 as control group. Predict observe explain write model is applied in experimental group and conventional model is applied in control group.  The data was collected by using critical thinking test, observastion sheet, and school documents. The data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this research shows that the mean of student’s capability of critical thinking in experiment class higher than control class, it was 70,41 for experiment class and 61,98 for control class.  The result of hypothesis is analyzed by t-test and it gets significant value 0,000 (sig.&lt;0,05), so the Predict Observe Explain Write model has effect toward student’s capability of critical thinking. ABSTRACTThis research aims to find to produce the feasible, effective, and efficient Map Box Props to improve the students’ understanding of the concept and critical thinking. The type of this research is development by Dick and Carrey model. Viewed from the learning process has been done by utilizing Map Box Props, The result of pre-test and post-test are used to test the effectiveness through the T-Test on the understanding concepts 2,111 ≥ 2,021 and T-Test on the critical thinking ability 6,556 ≥ 2,021. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected so that there is a difference in student learning outcomes between the experimental class and control class. In conclusion, the use of Map Box Props in the process of learning to improve the students’ understanding of the concept and critical thinking ability of class V in elementary school is feasible, practical, and effective to be used in social science, especially in historical materials of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam.  Keywords:, Effectiveness, Feasibility, Map-Box Montessori, Practicality,  Props. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini memiliki tujuan menghasilakan alat peraga Box Map yang layak, praktis dan efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengkonstrukan konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu pengembangan dengan model Dick and Carrey. Melalui keterlaksanaan proses pembelajaran menggunakan alat peraga Box Map dapat disimpulkan bahwa alat Box Map berbasis metode Montessori praktis digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mengkonstruksikan pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SD. Hasil uji pretest dan posttest digunakan untuk menguji keefektifan melalui Uji-T yaitu pada kemampuan mengkonstruksikan pemahaman konsep 2,111 ≥ 2,021 dan Uji-T pada kemampuan berpikir kritis yaitu 6,556 ≥ 2,021 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ho ditolak, dengan demikian tedapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Alat peraga Box Map dalam proses pembelajaran layak, efektif dan praktis digunakan. Kata Kunci: Alat peraga, Box Map, Montessori, Kelayakan, Kepraktisan, Keefektifan.

<p>This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Project Based Learning (PjBL) on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in biology subject in the school year of 2012/2013. This study was a quasi-experimental research using Post-test Non Equivalent Group Design using cluster sampling. The population of research was all X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013 consisting of 288 students, while the sample consisted of two classes: control one containing 33 students and experiment one containing 35 students. The control class employed varied lecturing learning method and the experiment one employed Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. Technique of collecting data used was test item and observation sheet. The research hypothesis testing was done using t-test.The result of research showed that Project Based Learning (PjBL) model affected the students’ critical thinking ability. The mean score of critical thinking ability in the experiment class employing Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in learning was higher than that in control class employing varied lecturing method.The conclusion of research was that Project Based Learning (PjBL) model affected significantly the critical thinking ability of the second semester of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013.</p><p align="center"> </p><p>Key Words: Project Based Learning (PjBL) , critical thinking ability.</p>

This research aimed to analyse the feasibility of the use of maquette and the effectiveness of maquette in improving students’ critical thinking ability. The research model employed was the development research model developed by Borg & Gall. The research subjects were third graders. The testing was divided into preliminary field testing, main field testing, and operational field testing. The analysis of the medium feasibility was based on the assessment by media experts, the assessment by subject matter experts, students’ response, and teacher’s response. The analysis of maquette effectiveness was carried out using a t-test (two independent samples) to figure out the difference and gain score of the experimental class for the purpose of identifying the improvement after the use of maquette. In the feasibility analysis, a score of 88 in the category “feasible” was gained from the assessment by a media expert and a score of 85 in the category “highly feasible” was gained from the assessment by a subject matter expert. From the preliminary field testing, scores of 60.5 and 65 in the category “highly feasible” were gained for the students’ response and teacher’s response, respectively. Meanwhile, from the main field testing, scores of 56.1 and 66.5 in the category “highly feasible” were gained for the students’ response and teacher’s response to the maquette use, respectively. The t-test results show a significant value in the critical thinking, namely.000 <.05, indicating a significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. The gain score was 0.5 and fell into the “moderate” category. Thus, it can be concluded that maquette is effective in improving critical thinking ability.

Implementation of Curriculum 2013 requires students to learn actively, independently, and critical thinking. Critical thinking is an activity through thinking about ideas related to concepts or problems. The efforts to improve critical thinking skills of learners can be done by using the appropriate learning model. One of the learning models that can be used to improve the ability of critical thinking is a problem-based learning model. This type of research is quasi experiment with randomized control-group pretest posttest design. The sample of this research choosed by used purposive sampling method. Class VIII6 as experimental class and class VIII4 as control class. Data of this research result are quantitative data of critical thinking ability. Data were analyzed by using t test. The results showed that the mean difference of posttest value with pretest value of critical thinking ability of experimental class learners is higher than control class. Hypothesis testing with t-test obtained tcalculate=2,94>ttable= 1,67, then H1 accepted. Based on these results the authors conclude that the implementation of problem-based learning model has a positive effect on the ability to think critically learners on the material additives and addictive substances.

This research is motivated by the low ability of mathematical critical thinking and Self Regulated Cimahi 10 Public Middle School students, so that a learning approach is needed to overcome these problems. The alternative approach applied is the Brain Based Learning Model approach.The objectives of this researcher are: 1) to examine students' mathematical critical thinking skills; 2) reviewing the Self Regulated attitude of students who obtain Brain Based Learning learning with students who have expository learning; 3) examine there is a positive correlation between Critical Thinking with Self Regulated students who obtain Brain Based Learning and expository learning. The population in this study was grade VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Cimahi. The samples in this study were class VII-B (Brain Based Learning) and class VII-D (expository). The instruments used in this study were the Critical Thinking test and the student's Self Regulated questionnaire. The test used is a subjective type test (description). The way to analyze data is with IBM SPSS Statistics 18.0 for Windows. The results showed that: 1) the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who obtained learning based on the Brain Based Learning approach was better than students who gained expository learning; 2) Self Regulated  attitude, students who get Brain Based Learning are better than students who get expository approach learning; 3) there is no correlation between critical thinking with Self Regulated students who obtain Brain Based Learning and expository learning.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan pendekatan problem-based learning (PBL) setting think talk write (TTW) dan problem-based learning (PBL) setting think pair share (TPS) serta mendeskripsikan perbedaan keefektifan antara PBL setting TTW dan PBL setting TPS ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self-efficacy siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes prestasi belajar, tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan angket self-efficacy siswa. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan one sample t-test, dan analisis multivariat (MANOVA). One sample t-test dilakukan untuk menguji keefektifan pendekatan PBL setting TTW dan keefektifan pendekatan PBL setting TPS, sedangkan analisis multivariat (MANOVA) dilakukan untuk menguji perbedaan keefektifan antara kedua treatment tersebut ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self-efficacy siswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan PBL setting TTW dan pendekatan PBL setting TPS efektif ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self-efficacy siswa. Selain itu hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan keefektifan yang signifikan antara pendekatan PBL setting TTW dengan pendekatan PBL setting TPS ditinjau dari prestasi belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self-efficacy siswa. The Effectiveness of PBL Setting TTW and TPS Seen from Students Learning Achievement, Critical Thinking and Self-Efficacy  AbstractThis study aims to describe the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) setting think talk write (TTW) and PBL setting think pair share (TPS) and describe the difference of the effectiveness between PBL setting TTW and PBL setting TPS in terms of learning achievements, critical thinking ability and self-efficacy of grade students. This research is quasi-experimental research. The research instruments to collect the data are a learning achievement test, a test to examine the ability to think critically and a self-efficacy questionnaire. One sample t-test was conducted to examine the effectiveness PBL setting TTW and PBL setting TPS. Meanwhile, multivariate test (MANOVA) was carried out to determine the difference between PBL setting TTW and PBL setting TPS. The results show that both PBL setting TTW and PBL setting TPS are effective in terms of students learning achievements, critical thinking ability, and self-efficacy and there is no significant difference between the effectiveness of PBL setting TTW and the effectiveness of PBL setting TPS in terms of learning achievements, critical thinking ability and student self-efficacy.

This study aimed to describe the application and analysis of student's critical thinking skills in learning that used a jigsaw cooperative model with monopoly game media. The study used classroom action research with a quantitative descriptive approach. The application of the jigsaw type cooperative learning model with monopoly game media was applied in several stages, namely group formation, rolling dice in turns, followed by transaction activities in the form of a combination of answering questions, renting, selling, and buying assets until finally one of the students became an absolute rich person called a monopolist. The student's critical thinking ability before taking action measured through the pretest. It showed that the percentage of completeness obtained by students was 65.6% with a minimum completeness criterion of 75. The student's critical thinking ability after the action in cycle I showed that there was a change in the percentage of completeness obtained by students of 66.67% of the pretest results to 76.67% of the post-test results. In the second cycle, there was a change of 76.67% from the pretest results to 90% from the post-test results, thus student's critical thinking skills in learning that used a jigsaw cooperative model with monopoly game media increased by 10% in cycles I and 13,33% in cycle II.

This study aims to determine the effect of practicum-based direct learning model on science process skills and students' critical thinking skills. This study is a quasi-experimental research with the Pretest-posttest Control Group Design. The sampling technique using Cluster Random Sampling. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPA 1 (18 students) as the experimental class and class XI IPA 2 (18 students) as the control class in AL-Hamzar High School Tembeng Putik. The research instruments used were learning implementation observation sheets, the science process skills observation sheets, and learning achievements tests. The data obtained were analyzed using the t test with the help of SPSS 16. The results of data analysis showed that the implementation of learning in the first meeting reached 81% and the second meeting 96% with a very good category. The students’ science process skills in both classes show that students' science process skills varies. The students’ critical thinking ability in the experimental class was higher than the control class. The results of pretest data analysis showed that students' critical thinking ability in the experimental class was 35.5 while the control class was 49.5. Students' critical thinking ability in post-test increased in the experimental class to 73.5 while the control class was 58.6. The results of the t-test show that tcount > ttable (3.45 > 2.04) so it can be concluded that the practicum-based direct learning model was affect toward students' science process skills and  critical thinking ability.
