<p>English as an international language is needed for community to socialize each other. That is why learning English is important, formal and informal, for young learners to achieve the target of learning English in accordance with curriculum demands. For this reason, it is necessary to apply joyful learning for young learners. <em>Multiple Stories-reading</em> is one of the great methodsto be implemented through several stages: stimuli through novel words, stories and illustrations, followed by story exposure (story reading and listening), Animation task (integration of new words), Phonological recall and Definition of words. This community service in Jatisari village, Mijen Semarang, was aimed  to help the young learners, to improve their English language skills by strengthening English literacy through multiple stories-reading. It was preceded by observation, and the implementation of this method was carried out by socialization, the preparation stage, and the implementation phase. The results of the application method were as followed:  they got new vocabulary from various kinds of stories, and obtained directly by them through transferring ideas, values, characters, good-bad and ideologies.</p><p> </p><p>Bahasa Inggris sebagai salah satu bahasa internasional diperlukan dalam masyarakat untuk saling bersosialisasi. Oleh karena itulah diperlukan pembelajaran yang baik, formal dan informal, sejak anak-anak agar tercapai target pembelajaran bahasa Inggris sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulumm. Untuk itulah diperlukan penerapan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan untuk anak-anak (young learners). Multiple Stories-reading merupakan salah astu metode yang bisa diterapkan untuk anak-anak melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu: stimuli melalui novel words, stories dan ilustrasi, dilanjutkan dengan story exposure (pembacaan cerita dan anak-anak mendengarkan), animasi task (integrasi kata-kata baru yang didengar), dan phonological recall (pengulangan cara membaca), serta definisi kata-kata. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat di desa Jatisari, Mijen Semarang, bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat, khususnya anak-anak dalam rangka meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris dengan penguatan literasi Bahasa Inggris melalui ‘multiple stories-reading. Dengan didahului dengan observasi, implementasi metode ini dilaksanakan dengan diawali dengan sosialisasi, tahap persiapan, dan tahap pelaksanaan. Hasil dari penerapan metode ini antara lain; anak-anak mendapatkan kosa-kata baru dari berbagai macam cerita, dengan diperoleh langsung oleh mereka melalui transfer ide, nilai, karakter, baik-buruk dan ideologi.</p>

<p>The purpose of this study was to describe the use of Total Physical Response (TPR) method on young learners English Language Teaching (ELT) at Panti Asuhan Yauma. The method of the research is descriptive qualitative. In this research the researcher describes the activities carried out by teachers and students by using TPR method. The data resources are from teacher and students in Panti Asuhan Yauma Jakarta. The class consists of 30 students which their ages were around 5 to 11 years old. The data collected through observation in learning activities. The instruments were pre-test and post-test with 2 (two) criterion being assessed, namely vocabulary and comprehension. They were divided into 5 (five) elements such as accuracy of word, understanding each word, word choice, understanding the meaning, and speaking easily. The results showed that there was an improvement in vocabulary score about 27.40 and comprehension score about 28.77. The research finding first showed that when using the TPR method children enjoyed and were also very active in learning English. The researcher hopes that the study contributes to the activities of teaching and learning English, especially teaching English for young learners. It was proved by the score from pre-test and post-test.</p>

The demands of English as an international language keep increasing along the time. Through time, the needs for learning English vary from for different purposes. Then the realization came to the surface that not all groups of learners need to learn general English. Thus, the design of English courses is developed for specific purposes as they are best known as English for Specific Purpose (ESP). The needs for learning English in specific purpose enable English teachers to pose themselves in different challenges other than in formal education. This paper aims at investigating the motivations of some English Education Department graduates for working as English instructors at English courses. The qualitative data was obtained by conducting the interview on some English instructors in Swift English School in Yogyakarta. After analyzing the data, it was found that despite its challenges, some English Education graduates prefer to work in English courses to regular schools. With all of the privileges of working in an English course, some general motivations underlie their working preferences. Among of the factors are flexible teaching situation, more chances for improving personal competence, higher salary and moderate career prospect.

This research aims to describe the implementation of English Zone (EZo) activities in learning English speaking skills for young learners. Employing qualitative descriptive study, this research included observation of teaching and learning process, and interview that was administered to 10 students from Kampung Sawah, West Hadimulyo. Ten meetings were observed thoroughly. Each observation took place in English language classroom every Sunday at Al-Fatimah Mosque. This research presented the implementation of English Zone (EZo) to young learners and students’ responses to the implementation of EZo. The findings illuminated the powerful ways in which EZo was able to improve students’ speaking skill. The students were having fun in the classroom which made them actively participate IN speaking practice with their friends or teachers. The findings further highlighted that EZo showed a good result in improving students’ confidence during their speaking practice. EZo helped them to speak more and decreased hesitation. This research aims to actualize the Tana Toraja district government program as an "English Speaking Area". This research also is subject to improve English communication skills for the young learners in Tana Toraja and produce English Language Learning-Based Open Space (ELLBOS) as a prototype of an English language teaching approach for young learners in the tourism area. The research applied the ADDIE research design consists of three cycles: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. This research found five issues: (1) participant reported that they are enthusiasm in English lessons; (2) the participants need to learn English; (3) the English-speaking skill is essential for students; (4) students revealed that are unhappy in learning English in the classroom; (5) students experienced peaceful learning atmosphere if learning English outside the classroom. This research recommends the significance of applying the English Language Learning-Based Open Space (ELLBOS) for young learners in the tourism area. It is good if the teacher does English learning outside the classroom with open space to feel free to explore their potency in learning English.

Mastery of English as an international language is a necessity at this time. Indonesia as a member of the AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) should properly prepare for this challenge by preparing a capable and skilled generation of the nation. English is an international language that is very important for communication and connecting people with the world in various aspects including education. The government shows its seriousness in improving English language skills to the nation's generation, namely by requiring English at the educational level. In reality, there are various difficulties faced by students when learning English, especially in learners / students who are not from the English department called ESP (English for Specific Purposes) Learners. This study aims to explore deeper into the variety of difficulties faced by students in learning English in students of Indonesian Language Education Study Program at FKIP University of Ma'arif NU Kebumen. This study uses a qualitative approach with questionnaire instruments, observation and in-depth interview. Analysis of research data was carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that research subjects face a variety of difficulties learning English, namely: 1) lack of student confidence, 2) students rarely use English in daily life and, 3) lack of vocabulary mastery.

English is one of the important components in realizing a quality college and being an international language means the language that will be used when conducting conversations between countries or nations. To realize a quality college, STIKOM Tunas Bangsa began to impose an increase in learning English. However, this was found to be an obstacle, namely the low interest of students in learning English. In this study will be determined the factors that are the main reason for the low interest of students in learning English. Data inputted based on the results of the questionnaire with the STIKOM Tunas Bangsa case study, then processed using the Weighted Sum Model (WSM) method by determining the alternatives to be used as reference in retrieval. decisions, namely, the level of difficulty, the level of understanding, environmental factors, and the role of the lecturer. The test results show that the WSM method is able to produce factors of low student interest in learning English based on the required criteriaKeywords: English Language, Decision Support System, WSM Method, Student Interest.

Vocabulary is one of the important elements of the English language. There are many media which can be used in teaching vocabulary to young learners. In this research, the researcher used video on YouTube to teach vocabulary. The research focuses on how students’ engagement during the implementation of video on YouTube in teaching vocabulary at an English course. In this research, the researcher used descriptive–qualitative research, and observation and documentation were used for collecting the data. This research was conducted at an English course in Bogor, in which the participants are seven young learners at grade two. The findings of this research were classified into two themes; students’ response to the classroom activities and the teacher instruction, and student’s engagement to the use of video on YouTube. It is revealed that most young learners at an English course were engaged during the implementation of the video on YouTube in teaching vocabulary. They also gave positive responses to the learning activity and preferred learning English vocabulary by using video on YouTube.

Teaching students to learn new vocabularies and sequencing of ideas can be challenging to many students as they might find such tasks to be challenging boring. Thus, interactive teaching materials are necessary in grabbing learners’ attention span and interests, and in enhancing their involvement. DishZle is a self-designed 2-in-1 language game which makes learning English be more interactive and exciting with its colourful pictures. It also engages the players’ involvements via team play and cooperation. The theme of this game focuses on various traditional dishes in Malaysia. Students who play this game can enhance their pre-existing knowledge of local dishes, learn new words (local dishes and ingredients) andimprove their sequencing skills by using linkers. The game is suitable for beginner to intermediate learners of English in any ESL classrooms (as pre or post activities). To add, DishZle can also be introduced to foreign tourists who wish to know more about our local dishes. Travel agencies andhospitality services can offer enjoyable and rewarding activities for the tourists by displaying this game at tourism spots, hotels, homestays or holiday resorts. As the matter of fact, tourists can even purchase the game as souvenirs. The novelties of the game are it involves pictorial illustrations of famous yet authentic local dishes and the ingredients through magnetic board and its pieces, and jumbled arrangements of dish preparations in the form of flip charts. This game can be used in ESL classroom as it enhances fun learning, communicative competency, team work and cooperation as well as develops English language components.

The researcher is aimed at comparing the derivational morphemes exist in sasak language and English language. This comparison leads into the construction of new words variation to build a complete sentence bot in English and in Sasaknese. By comparing the derivational morphemes between Sasak language and English language, some similarities and differences of both languages truly revealed.  The similarities between them brought the easiness to the students of Sasak while learning English. Conversely, the differences caused difficulties the students who are learning English. The comparison between these two languages derivational morphemes hopefully brought some positive effects on students’ English mastery particularly the mastery of vocabularies and the process that made them up. An in-depth study on how those derivational morphemes in both languages are different were conducted for the sake of the data complete of the study. The interview section of the research was conducted among the experts of those two languages to support the filed data needed in the research. The data collected through the interview process istranscribed and reduced based on research need for the sake of answering the research question. The research conclusion said that some derivational morphemes exited in the Sasak were also found in English derivational morpheme process which then translated into some easiness can be found during English study process of the students who speak Sasak as their first language.
