<p style="text-align: justify;">Dragonfly of the genus Orthetrum is a dragonfly of the Lebullidae family. This dragonfly has a variety of types of morphological structure, body color, distribution and habitat. Habitat dragonfly of the genus Orthetrum is quite extensive, especially around lowland to upland waters. Protected Forest Mount Prau Central Java, is a rainforest that has a water flow appropriate for life dragonflies. It allows the Dragonflies of all kinds to live and thrive in the environment, including Orthetrum. This research was conducted to find out the types of Orthetrum that can be found in Protected Forest Area of Mount Prau, Central Java. Determination of sampling is done along the river flow at 3 stations with total sub plot of sample as much as 12 point, starting from near settlement flow up to 2100 m toward waterfall source. The results of the sample analysis showed morphological variations in the structure of the thorax and abdomen as well as the color variations and patterns on the thorax, abdomen, and wings. Identification of the dragonfly obtained four types of dragonfly Orthetrum with variations on the sex, the male and female sabina Orthetrum, Orthetrum caffrum males. The impact of land use change will lead to a reduction of the land that is supposed to be for the groundwater recharge area. The area which is previously as a protected area, becoming a cultivated area. Determination of groundwater recharge areas is needed to ensure the availability of groundwater in Purworejo regency. The objective of this study is at determining the suitability of land use for groundwater recharge areas. The method was developed by using spatial analysis tool based on rating and weighting value of some parameters, i.e. rock permeability, rainfall, land use, soil type, slope, and depth of groundwater depth. Results conduct that the groundwater recharge area covers around 42,192 ha. Most of the groundwater recharge areas are located in the protected area, but there are several occupied by cultivated areas.

Protozoa species of Trichodina spp. may be found in most hatchery centers in Banyumas, Purbalingga, and Banjarnegara. However, the determination of Trichodina spp. types is still based on its body’s morphological variations, not yet molecular. A research has been conducted to identify molekuler of the Trichodina spp. with the infecting 18S rRNA gene marking on the gourami larvae in Exs. Residence of Banyumas, Central Java. The research used a survey method with the samples of gourami. Amplification of 18S rRNA gene from Trichodina heterodentata was Performed using PCR technique. Primer used is Forward primer (5 ‘-AAC CTG GTT GAT CCT GCC ATG-3’) and Reverse primer (5 ‘-TGA TCC TTC TGC AGG TTC ACC TAC-3’) which produces a 600 pb amplicon of DNA. Molecular research can be a complementary identification of organisms morphologically. Amplification of the partial 18S rRNA gene may be used to identify Trichodina specifically. Gourami larvae taken from the hatchery centers in Banyumas, Purbalingga, and Banjarnegara. The results show that the detected percentage of Trichodina heterodentata genes with the infecting 18S rRNA gene marking on the gourami larvae in Central Java taken from the hatchery centers in Banyumas, Purbalingga and Banjarnegara are respectively 10%, 10%, and 45%. This research provides a benefit in mapping the presence of protozoa pathogen of Trichodina spp. in gourami hatcheries in the Former Exs. Residence of Banyumas, Central Java

This paper will describe the function of water resources to support business activities in Surakarta regency, Central Java province. Surakarta is a business city in Central Java province with small business enterprises and specific culture. This city has a famous river with the name is Bengawan Solo. Bengawan Solo is a River Flow Regional (RFR) to support business activities in Surakarta regency. Concious with the function, societies and local government in Surakarta must to manage the sustainability of River Flow Regional (RFR) Bengawan Solo. It is important to manage the sustainability of business activity in Surakarta regency.   According to the condition in Surakarta regency, this paper will explain how the simulation of Low Impact Development Model in Surakarta regency. Low Impact Development is a model that can manage and evaluate sustainability of water resources in River Flow Regional (RFR). Low Impact Development can analys goals, structures, and process water resources management. The system can also evaluate results and impacts of water resources management. From this study, we hope that Low Impact Development can manage water resources in River Flow Regional (RFR) Bengawan Solo.

<p>Some areas in the city of Bandung is an area that dilitasi by the flow of the river, to prevent the introduction of garbage into the river basin is necessary to note the waste management systems in residential areas along the river. Cidurian river has a length of 24.86 Km along the river flow. Consists of the city of Bandung and Bandung regency. Administrative regions Cidurian River past eight (8) districts, from the region in the District Kiaracondong precisely Village Babakan Babakan Sari and Surabaya populous and the most densely populated. Thus, there should be community-based waste management in the form of a reduction in resources to prevent potential entry of waste into the river basin. Planning waste reduction will be divided into two, namely the reduction of inorganic waste with waste bank then the reduction of organic waste with absorption holes biopori, and bio reactor mini determination of the reduction is determined by the results of the analysis of the sampling covers the composition and garbage, then the result of the measurement characteristics test and analysis results questionnaire.</p>

This chapter reviews traditional and new zooplankton sampling techniques, sample preservation, and sample analysis, and provides the sources where in-depth discussion of these topics is addressed. The net systems that have been developed over the past 100+ years, many of which are still in use today, can be categorized into eight groups: non-opening/closing nets, simple opening/closing nets, high-speed samplers, neuston samplers, planktobenthos plankton nets, closing cod-end samplers, multiple net systems, and moored plankton collection systems. Methods of sample preservation include preservation for sample enumeration and taxonomic morphological analysis, and preservation of samples for genetic analysis. Methods of analysis of zooplankton samples include determination of biomass, taxonomic composition, and size by traditional methods; and genetic analysis of zooplankton samples.

Abstract Using a sensitive RT-QPCR assay, we analyzed the regulatory effects of sex and different dosage compensation mutations in Drosophila. To validate the assay, we showed that regulation for several genes indeed varied with the number of functional copies of that gene. We then confirmed that dosage compensation occurred for most genes we examined in male and female flies. Finally, we examined the effects on regulation of several genes in the MSL pathway, presumed to be involved in sex-dependent determination of regulation. Rather than seeing global alterations of either X chromosomal or autosomal genes, regulation of genes on either the X chromosome or the autosomes could be elevated, depressed, or unaltered between sexes in unpredictable ways for the various MSL mutations. Relative dosage for a given gene between the sexes could vary at different developmental times. Autosomal genes often showed deranged regulatory levels, indicating they were in pathways perturbed by X chromosomal changes. As exemplified by the BR-C locus and its dependent Sgs genes, multiple genes in a given pathway could exhibit coordinate regulatory modulation. The variegated pattern shown for expression of both X chromosomal and autosomal loci underscores the complexity of gene expression so that the phenotype of MSL mutations does not reflect only simple perturbations of genes on the X chromosome.

Gender determination of the human remains can be very challenging, especially in the case of incomplete ones. Herein, we report a proof-of-concept experiment where the possibility of gender recognition using Raman spectroscopy of teeth is investigated. Raman spectra were recorded from male and female molars and premolars on two distinct sites, tooth apex and anatomical neck. Recorded spectra were sorted into suitable datasets and initially analyzed with principal component analysis, which showed a distinction between spectra of male and female teeth. Then, reduced datasets with scores of the first 20 principal components were formed and two classification algorithms, support vector machine and artificial neural networks, were applied to form classification models for gender recognition. The obtained results showed that gender recognition with Raman spectra of teeth is possible but strongly depends both on the tooth type and spectrum recording site. The difference in classification accuracy between different tooth types and recording sites are discussed in terms of the molecular structure difference caused by the influence of masticatory loading or gender-dependent life events.

In the eyes of male and female flies a quantitative determination of the tetrahydropterin, the corresponding dihydro-compound (Sepiapterin) and of xanthommatin from 0—5 days after hatching was made. The increase of xanthommatin almost stops 24 hours after hatching; about 13 μg are present after that time. The tetrahydropterin, after a drastic increase during the first 24 hours, remains at a level of about 1,1 — 1,2 µg. In contrast the dihydrocompound which is nearly absent at the time of hatching is deposited on the eye-granules between the third and fifth day. At that time, especially in the male the dihydropterin/tetrahydropterin ratio is increased. Starvation during the first 24 hours has essentially no effect on the amount of xanthommation whereas the amount of pterins is markedly reduced.

AbstractThe determination of phenolic acids’ and flavonoids’ content in daily food rations (DFRs) of a selected group of male and female students and the development of chromatographic conditions is the primary goal of the study. The presence of 7 phenolic components were confirmed in the prepared extracts from all diets reconstructed within a period of 3 years. The highest concentrations were determined for hesperidin (124 and 55.6 mg for women and men, respectively), naringin (47.6 mg in female and 37 mg in male diets) and chlorogenic acid (19.7 and 19.8 mg for women and men). The antioxidant potential of the daily food rations, measured with a DPPH test, was higher for women (range 47.1‒78.8%) than for men (range 34.5‒78.0%) and was found to strongly correlate with the total phenolics content of the samples (Folin-Ciocalteu test) (correlation coefficient 0.90).
