The article explores the impact of distant learning and digital technologies on the educational process in theological education institutions, as well as on religious and educational practices at religious organizations in the context of the quarantine restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan. The research methodology consisted of semi-structed interviews with organizers and participants of distant learning, clergy, focus group method, and the analysis of digital resources. The study included religious educational institutions representing Islam, Orthodoxy, Catholicism, as well as their religious education for believers. The authors conclude that the pandemic has accelerated the process of digitalization of religion in Kazakhstan, as well as the sphere of religious education. Based on Heidi Campbell’s religious-social shaping approach to technology, the authors claim that the reflection of the experience gained in distance learning by its participants expresses the process of coordinating the application of media technologies to religious education in order to legitimize their use in the Kazakhstani context. The research data reveals an ambiguous and mainly negative attitude toward distance learning among respondents which lead to the spreading of the discourse about the difficulties and limits of using new technologies for religious education with its traditional pedagogy, teaching methods and type of religious authority. The experience of education practices in a distance format illustrated by the case study of the course on reading the Qur’ an also revealed the limits of its application, since believers are looking not only for religious knowledge, but also psychological support and spiritual guidance.

The Indonesian government was concerned about the impact of a wider spread of Covid-19, so it moved quickly to break the chain of transmission by urging people to live a healthy lifestyle, avoid crowds, and keep a safe distance. As a result, the circumstance has a significant impact on education and learning. The goal of this study is to learn more about the role of parents in promoting distant learning and to identify the characteristics that encourage and limit distance learning in Bolo Village during the Covid-19 outbreak. Students are forced to study from home due to government regulations. Teachers can ensure students' learning activities in a variety of ways, one of which is by involving parents as the primary companion of students when they are at home. The participants in this study were parents and their junior high school-aged children. The information was gathered through organized interviews utilizing the researcher's prepared questions. The data in this study was analyzed utilizing qualitative data analysis approaches such as the Miles and Huberman model, which features a cycle that includes data reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusion drafting. According to the findings of this study, parents in Bolo Village played four roles in supporting learning from home during the Covid-19 pandemic: 1) accompanying children in learning, 2) intense communication with children, 3) providing supervision to children, and 4) educating and supporting children motivation. The supporting variables discovered are: 1) responsibility, 2) family values, and 3) availability to satisfy the needs of children. There are also barriers, such as 1) internet network issues, 2) too much workload, and 3) boring and less diversified learning approaches.

The sixth chapter analyzes theological schools that realigned themselves with the modern research university. Several narratives are explored: the struggle between Thomas Jefferson’s University of Virginia and seminary founders like John Holt Rice; the influence of the German university through immigrants like Phillip Schaff and theologians who studied abroad; the pragmatic adaptation of the German encyclopedia for organizing theological studies; the impact of the American university’s pragmatism, social sciences, and social reform on seminaries; and the influence of progressive education and the religious education movement on theological schools. University Divinity schools led this movement, especially the University of Chicago built by William Rainey Harper, but a number of independent schools, like Union Theological Seminary in New York, sought such realignment as “theological universities.” This realignment of theological schools had significant benefits, as it increased elective studies, developed specialized fields of ministry, and brought the social sciences to theological education. However, the realignment had unforeseen problems as it widened the gap between academics and those of professional practice; distanced faculty from interdisciplinary work and church leadership; replaced the Bible as a unifying discipline with “the scientific method”; and replaced the integrative role of oral pedagogies with scholarly lectures and the research seminar.

In recent years, the problem of deteriorating health of students studying in a distance format has been very urgent. On the one hand, the volume of the teaching load, including interesting educational programs in the online format, is increasing; on the other hand, there are no sanitary rules governing the requirements for the educational process in universities. The research purpose is to establish the features of health disorders of distance learning students. A survey was conducted among full-time and distance learning students. Through the analysis of variance, the strength of the impact of each factor related to deviations in students’ health was determined. Statistical reliability was confirmed using variance and special tables. The conducted research identified informatively significant factors related to health deviations of distance learning students. The analysis of variance was used to assess the influence of factors and their strength. Reliability of the impact of factors was determined using variance and special tables. The results are reliable (p<0.001). The available literary sources do not cover the problem of ranking the leading factors. Among them, a decrease in physical activity, emerging sub-health forms, visual impairments, changes in the general psychoemotional state are of particular importance. The following conclusions can be done. The revealed features of health disorders in distance learning students are associated with a decrease in physical activity, the development of hypodynamia, emerging sub-health states, visual impairment, a change in the general psychoemotional state. The distance learning process shall be regulated by Sanitary Rules and Regulations developed for universities.

One of the important areas that has undergone significant changes due to the epidemic and the quarantine measures caused by it is education. The need to quickly change the forms of conducting classes has become a real test for teachers of performing disciplines of a sports profile, and prompted them to search and experiment in the use of information technologies and technical means in the educational process. Since sports education in general and the teaching of academic disciplines that form sports skills have their own specific differences, the use of information technologies in this area has caused a number of problems that require separate detailed consideration. Distance learning has become mainstream in the context of global quarantine. Therefore, this problem inspired the consideration in the article of such issues as the methodology for preparing and conducting practical classes, as well as the use of information technologies and technical means such as video products, multimedia presentations, encyclopedias, simulators and games that are used in the educational process of students and will help it. improvement. The paper discusses the importance of distance learning within university education. This issue stems from lifelong learning perspective, relating to social factors as emigration, demographic situation and competitiveness in the labour market. Distance learning is one of the possible solutions to acquire education to working people or those who live in remote locations. The main focus of our research was on learning quality and students’ satisfaction based on the case study of distance learning mode application. The research sample was composed of 126 part-time students who participated in the distance course organized as a part of university education. The case study of a distance course presented in this paper and survey findings revealed the study participants’ positive approach to distance learning in the university educational process. New technologies and their resulting opportunities for learners to interact with each other and with teachers, provision of guidance and logically structured material created preconditions for students’ satisfaction. Therefore, we assume that development of distance learning courses, constructivist learning environment with its inherent creative approach to learning provision can bring solutions to many social and educational issues, such as big emigration flows of young population, better employment opportunities and selfrealisation of young adults.
