Statement of the problem. The problem of athletes’ performance recovery is most significant due to the increased sports loads for athletes. The sport of high achievements requires huge physical and emotional strength from the athlete, while the load increases. The history of the latest sports competitions proves that the load for athletes is growing. The growth of loads initiates the development of recovery tools, tools that allow athletes to maintain their shape. The use of modern tools and methods of recovery increases the potential of an athlete at the stage of sports skills improvement. It should be noted that there are very few publications devoted to new recovery tools for athletes. In this regard, this article has a special relevance. The purpose of the article is to characterize the recovery tools of track-and- field athletes (race walkers) at the stage of their sports skill improvement. The research methodology consists of an integrated approach, a generalization method, analysis of special literature on the research problem, and content analysis. Research results. The analysis made it possible to conclude that it is necessary to increase attention to the development of the methodology and technique of recovery of a track-and-field athlete. At this time in sports, the problem of recovery is important, as is training. Consequently, the methods of restoring and relieving fatigue in an athlete are of paramount importance in the modern world. A characteristic feature of sports is training loads of significant intensity and volume, which make high demands on the body of athletes. The search for the most effective means of recovery makes it possible to increase the ability of the body. Conclusion. Improving methodological and analytical tools for the recovery process of athletes is an important and urgent problem that has not been solved methodically and methodologically. In modern conditions, it is necessary to create a model for working with an athlete, where the athlete’s recovery process will be based on a scientific approach using innovative tools.

Statement of the problem. Specialists involved in the training of track and field athletes-walkers note the need to develop recommendations for optimizing and individualizing the training process. At the same time, experts see the problem in the need to improve the methodological framework. This article presents the role of not just a methodological complex for providing training for athletes, but a methodological complex taking into account their specialization. The purpose of the article is to identify ways for improving methodological tools when training track-and-field athletes at the stage of sports skills improvement. The research methodology consists of general scientific research methods. In particular, the method of generalization, analysis, and content analysis. The analysis resulted in conclusions that determine the role of software and methodological support. Research results. As a result of the analysis, generalization of the results of a number of authors, including practitioners, the necessity of using an interdisciplinary approach to the problem of methodological support for the training of athletes was revealed. It is proposed to use digital technologies in the development and implementation of methodological tools in the practice of coaching at the stage of improving sports mastery. Conclusion. The article proposes a new approach to the development of the methodological basis of the training process. To achieve the stage of sports skills improvement, athletes and a coach need effective teaching materials, since the period of improvement coincides with the process of preparing for a competition, and such training must take into account many factors, a coach must have a significant amount of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and this does not always correspond to reality. At the stage of improvement, effective and tested in practice software and methodological complex can solve many problems, eliminate knowledge deficits, so its importance can hardly be overestimated. The article concludes that it is necessary to introduce programming elements, to use digital technologies in the development and use of training programs for athletes. The created program will allow a trainer to track athlete’s achievements, will allow predicting, analyzing, modeling the results achieved, and, most importantly, and to take into account the characteristics of the athlete. Such a methodological complex based on the programming language and modern digital technologies is based on interdisciplinary and integrated approaches to the problem of improving sports mastery.

The article reveals and analyzes the content of physical training of rowers-academics of two schools of higher sportsmanship: Kherson and Dnipro in the preparatory period. The training programs included exercises in gyms with different weights, namely lying down, squats with a barbell; rowing on an ergometer; long distance running. The magnitude of the training load, the intensity of training was determined by coaches depending on the condition of the athlete. Changes in the indicators of physical fitness of these athletes were studied. It is proved that after the training camp in the preparatory period of training rowers-academics the result on the rowing ergometer Concept 2 increased and the growth rate in the national team of Dnipro SHVSM was 1.2%, and in the national team of Kherson SHVSM 0.7%. According to the test, the thrust of the barbell lying - in the national team of the Dnieper SHVSM 11.7%, and in the national team of the Kherson SHVSM 27.8%. A promising area of further work is to study the features of technical training of rowers-academics. The need for targeted training in the training process from the stage of preliminary basic training to higher sports skills requires finding the best options for training planning in each age group and for different periods and stages of the annual cycle. The experience of the past years shows that the process of development of sports results in rowing is organically connected with the improvement of the physical fitness of the rower, but the reserves in this direction are not yet exhausted.

Purpose: To investigate the changes in Chinese adults’ physical activity (PA) behavior and determinants before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: A total of 1028 adults (aged 19–59 years) were recruited from 127 urban and rural neighborhoods in China using stratified three-stage probability sampling. Data collection was conducted in December 2019 and July 2020. Results: Compared with the data before the pandemic, individuals’ weekly moderate-to-vigorous-intensity PA (MVPA) decreased significantly from 139 min to 120 min, seven months after the outbreak (p = 0.01), with female and rural populations displaying a more significant decrease (p = 0.02). Overall, 13.7% of participants met the PA guidelines (World Health Organization) both before and during the pandemic, while 21.8% met the guidelines only before the pandemic and 18.1% increased their PA and met the PA guidelines during the pandemic. A total of 46.4% did not meet the PA guidelines before or during the pandemic. Determinants of PA behavior change before and during the pandemic included sports skills, self-determined motivation and support from sports organizations. Conclusions: The Chinese adults’ PA levels decreased significantly from before to during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly among the female population. It is suggested that the enhancement of self-determined motivation, improvement of sport skills, and support from sports organizations might be effective in facilitating individuals’ engagement in PA during the pandemic.

Cerebral lateralization is associated with differences in brain organization and handedness is seen as its main marker. In order to verify the hypothesis that differences in brain organization tend to be associated with different patterns of interests and abilities, 379 normal left-handed subjects (221 women, aged 18 – 72 years) and 366 normal right-handed subjects (256 women, aged 18 – 72 years) were interviewed about their interests and special abilities. The following interests and special abilities were studied: singing, playing an instrument, dancing, painting, acting, foreign language skills, sports skills, and writing poetry. The results in the left-handers group showed that there is a significantly higher percentage of subjects with a pronounced interest in playing an instrument. In the group of right-handers, the study demonstrated a significantly higher percentage of subjects specifically interested in learning foreign languages. With respect to the abilities, a significantly higher incidence of participants with vocal, instrumental, sports, and foreign language skills was found in the left-handers’ group. Differences in functional cerebral organization between left- and right-handers were suggested as possible explanation for the relationship of handedness with special abilities.

Background: Researchers have found that manipulative skill competency in childhood not only helps to improve physical activity participation but also helps adolescents learn specialized sports skills. This study aimed to examine the effects of an eight-week bilateral coordinated movement (BCM) intervention on manipulative skill competency in school-aged children. Methods: The participants were 314 fourth-grade students from two elementary schools in China. This study used a two-arm quasi-experimental research design. For one elementary school, two fourth-grade classes were assigned to the BCM group and another two fourth-grade classes were assigned to the control group. For the other elementary school, one fourth-grade class was assigned to the BCM group and another fourth-grade class to the control group. The students in the BCM group received an eight-week, two 40 min BCM lessons in soccer, and another eight-week, two 40-min BCM lessons in basketball. The control group received an eight-week two regular 40 min PE lessons in soccer and basketball, respectively. The students’ manipulative skill competency in soccer and basketball skills were pre- and post-tested using the two PE metric assessment rubrics. Data were analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, independent sample t-tests, and ANCOVA and ANOVA repeated measures. Results: The results showed a significant main effect of time (pre-test vs. post-test) in soccer skills (F = 273.095, p < 0.001, η2 = 0.468) and in basketball skills (F = 74.619, p < 0.001, η2 = 0.193). Additionally, the results revealed a significant main effect of the group (BCM group vs. control group) in soccer skills (F = 37.532, p < 0.001, η2 = 0.108) and a marginal significant main effect of the groups in basketball skills (F = 3.619, p = 0.058, η2 = 0.011). Furthermore, there was a significant interaction effect between the time and the group in soccer skills (F = 37.532, p < 0.001, η2 = 0.108) and in basketball skills (F = 18.380, p < 0.001, η2 = 0.056). Conclusions: It was concluded that after participation in the eight-week, 16 40 min lessons of BCM, the fourth-grade students showed greater improvement in soccer and basketball dribbling, passing and receiving skills, compared to the control group.
