This study discusses the psychological aspects of the main character. The purpose of the study is to explain the understanding and details in depth about the personality and emotional classification of the main character. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The approach used is literary psychology. The documentation technique by means of reading and taking notes is used to obtain data from Hamka's novelette entitled “Waiting for the Sounding”. The content analysis technique is used in this study to find information and in-depth understanding of the data collected. Data validation uses theory triangulation. The results and discussion show that Mr. Sharif's personality is influenced by the id, the ego, and the superego. Mr. Sharif in the novelette is described as having a lonely character and suffering from the life he lived. He worked as a Dutch employee in order to escape the misery of the colonial period at that time. Therefore, it seems that Mr. Sharif’s various emotions demonstrate a form of conflict both with oneself (internal conflict) in the form of regret and feelings of guilt and with the environment (external conflict) in the form of love, envy and hate, and loneliness

OBJECTIVE: to identify and analyze the significance of participation for parents in a Neonatal Unit (NU) of a maternity hospital in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. METHOD: a qualitative study with 20 parents of both sexes, between 18 and 39 years of age, with a preterm hospitalized child. A content analysis using a thematic approach was used for information processing. RESULTS: the significance of: a) the NICU as a place of suffering and waiting, b) dealing with the child's admittance, c) being excluded from the hospitalized child's care and d) being aware of inadequacies in the child's care. CONCLUSION: parents deal with their suffering and experience barriers that impede their participation; they respond to the medical hierarchy that limits participation, even when it goes against their natural role as parents. The caregiving philosophy needs to be transformed so that parents are considered people with the right to participate and to be competent in caring for their child.

This article aims to critically explain the method of al-Tafsīr al-Tauḥīdī by Ḥasan al-Turābī and its position amongst other thematic commentary theories. This study is a descriptive qualitative study by employing content analysis theory. The results indicate the trend of al-Tafsīr al-Tauḥīdī in two meanings. The first is as a commentary paradigm which leans on the unity of man and the universe in the message of the God’s revelation. The second is as the form of thematic commentary of al-Waḥdah al-Mauḍū‘iyyah model. Therefore, this commentary is more appropriately categorized into al-Tafsīr al-Muṣhafī bi al-Waḥdah al-Mauḍū’iyyah. It has three systematic explanation in each surah including Khulāṣah Hady al-Sūrah, Tartīl al-Ma’āni, and Umūm al-ma’āni. Al-Turābī's ability to unite various related elements in his commentary is not only between verses or surahs but also between human life and all its activities with the universe in a bond of al-Qur'an guidance which is core to monotheism. This is the advantage it has and is a new method in commentary literacy in Sudan. In fact, the method of al-Tafsīr al-Tauḥīdī generally becomes a framework for the whole civilization project of al-Turābī. However, there are some critics towards his commentary regarding rationality and rejection of several authentic hadiths which seem to leave riwāyah in the commentary of the Qur’an.

Current literature lacks qualitative information derived from distressed fathers. The aim of this study was to explore distressed fathers’ experiences and needs in the early postpartum period. A descriptive qualitative study design was used. The study took place from October 2018 to December 2018 at the tertiary public hospital in Singapore. A purposive sample of 12 distressed Singaporean fathers were interviewed in this study. Audio recorded interviews were conducted face-to-face using a semistructured interview guide and thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Six themes emerged from the thematic analysis: (a) facing the “real deal,” (b) everyday woes, (c) “losing excitement,” (d) “trying to be strong,” (e) “reality check,” and (f) supplementing help for fathers. This study highlights distressed father’s agony and the urgent need for health care professionals and family members to seek acceptability and understanding of fathers’ mental health difficulties in the early postpartum period.
