Deep knowledge of current English vocabulary is an essential quality of a competent expert in the field of IT. Various technologies of development of lexical competence are based on the indisputable statement  – lexical units (words and phrases) for students to study should be arranged according to their relevance in the daily communication in English. Objective quantitative indicators of relevance of lexical units in everyday life situations are presented in frequency dictionaries; however, their role in the process of professionally oriented foreign language teaching has not been sufficiently studied. The purposeof the research is to increase the efficiency of the process of development of the English language lexical competence of students in IT fields by supporting and actively using electronic frequency dictionaries as additional means of the vocabulary expansion.Materials and methodsof research include the analysis of the problem of development of the English language lexical competence of students of IT directions, modeling of the process of work with frequency dictionaries in the learning process, the practical implementation of the developed model, the pedagogical experiment and analysis of its results. The vocabulary is rapidly updated in the field of IT, for these reasons, in the process of development of the lexical competence of IT students it was decided to maintain their own frequency dictionaries of actual computer vocabulary, extracted from a wide range of the English language texts in IT sphere. The article presents a structural and functional model of working with frequency dictionaries in the learning process that is a sequence of three important steps to be performed by the lecturer, and the results of each of them. Such steps are the formation of the collections of relevant texts on it, computer processing of these collections to build frequency dictionaries and automatic and manual editing of the dictionaries, intended for the formation of the ordered list of lexical units for students to learn. The result of the researchis the practical implementation of the presented model of work with frequency dictionaries. The most labor-intensive and responsible job is the preparation of the collection of English texts, based on the well-established interdisciplinary interaction. Building a frequency dictionary from the collection is performed by standard means of Microsoft Office. The editing of this dictionary means automatic and manual removal of lexical units that are of no worth for students in terms of their vocabulary expansion. The article also presents the results of a successful pedagogical experiment on the development of students’ lexical competence in the process of their preparation for the World Programming Championship. During the training, the participants with the help of such frequency dictionary quickly improved their knowledge of the vocabulary necessary to understand the conditions of the programming assignments in English. At present, the model of work with frequency dictionaries presented in the article has proved its usefulness and positive impact on the development of lexical competence. The frequency dictionaries obtained in the course of study are regularly updated and actively used in the learning process as a good supporting tool without replacing well-tested learning technologies proven to be effective, but supplementing this process.

Empirical research supports the long held assumption that self-control, self-esteem, and motivational orientations of adult language learners are important factors in their language learning behavior. However, precisely these variables influence the language learning process has yet to be investigated. The goal of this paper is to examine the role of how self-control, self-esteem and motivational orientations influence the English language learning process. Recent methodological advances and various theoretical frameworks that have guided the present research are considered in this paper. A special “bidirectional course” turning on teacher-learner interaction was designed - a communicative course which promoted learner autonomy. The results indicate that active involvement in learning, monitoring motivation, self-control and self–esteem are positively related to learning outcomes, demonstrating that the acquisition of self-regulation skills have a positive impact on the learning of English.

Effective application of distance technologies, even at the level of individual courses in most universities is faced with a number of organizational, methodological problems. The final design of the regulatory framework the problem of implementation of these technologies in the field of theoretical research and experimental work in the practical implementation of the plane. The authors consider a wide range of problems arising from the mass introduction of e-learning in educational practice, their classification on various grounds. When the authors of the work are based on practical experience in the development of the course Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science for students training areas Teacher Education profiles Informatics and Computer Science and Foreign Language on the basis of a learning management system Moodle. Also studied a number of aspects related to the characteristics of the studied subject area (in Mathematics example of educational area). We formulate the necessary conditions for effective use of e-learning technologies. These conditions, from the point of view of the authors, speakers, among others participated in the implementation of the university administration, the formation of a uniform by the level of the basic mathematical training a group of students, the formation of a thesaurus (semantic web) course in the classroom working with students, as well as a phased approach to solving complex text assignments, requiring the construction of a formal mathematical model in the subject area. We offer some simple criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of (increased performance and students' motivation, optimization of time working teachers, reducing the number of chronic debtors in the discipline).

Numerous possibilities, that have arisen in the result of globalization and cultural integration, require modern specialists, and musicians in particular, to speak English language fluently. Thus, methods of teaching professionally directed foreign language should develop and heed special abilities of learners to meet their academic and professional needs. Foreign language acquisition is influenced by numerous factors such as deciphering and processing of speech sounds, words segmentation, pronunciation, memory, attention, the ability to associate the sound of the word with its meaning. It is considered that musical abilities have positive impact on these factors. The influence of musical training on foreign language acquisition has been in scope of many scholarly works worldwide. It is considered that music expertise facilitates the development of phonological, listening and vocabulary skills in foreign language learning. Moreover, musicians have abilities to detect subtle pitch deviations in music and language, segment continuous speech, as well as superior auditory abilities, which enable them to hear better even in noise. Therefore, we hypothesize, that listening can be an effective tool in teaching English professionally directed lexical competence to future musicians. In this study we analyse theoretical data relevant to the current research and seek to compare performance of musicians and non-musicians in various vocabulary and listening tasks when learning English lexical competence through listening. Our findings prove that musical expertise enhances listening comprehension skills; listening leads to vocabulary uptake and can be an effective source of English professionally directed lexical competence development in musicians.

We consider the task of automated quality control of sound recordings containing voice samples of individuals. It is shown that in this task the most acute is the small sample size. In order to overcome this problem, we propose the novel method of acoustic measurements based on relative stability of the pitch frequency within a voice sample of short duration. An example of its practical implementation using aninter-periodic accumulation of a speech signal is considered. An experimental study with specially developed software provides statistical estimates of the effectiveness of the proposed method in noisy environments. It is shown that this method rejects the audio recording as unsuitable for a voice biometric identification with a probability of 0,95 or more for a signal to noise ratio below 15 dB. The obtained results are intended for use in the development of new and modifying existing systems of collecting and automated quality control of biometric personal data. The article is intended for a wide range of specialists in the field of acoustic measurements and digital processing of speech signals, as well as for practitioners who organize the work of authorized organizations in preparing for registration samples of biometric personal data.

This article discusses about the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) as an innovation of learning science in elementary schools. In fact, the practical implementation of learning is still focused on the teacher as the main actor in which instruction is the dominant strategy in the learning process. Basically CTL is a concept of learning that helps educators link between what is taught with real-world situations of students and encourages them to make connections between the knowledge possessed and implemented in their lives. The concept of CTL applied in science teaching course could have implications, especially in learning to understand the natural phenomena that are not only conceptual. In consequence, students can receive full knowledge built through real experiences.

Integrating scaffolding-learning technologies has been recognized for its potential to create intellectual and engaging classroom interactions. In the United Arab Emirates, having language teachers employ computers as a medium of new pedagogical instrument for teaching second languages generated the idea of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) as a medium of an innovative pedagogical instrument for facilitating and scaffolding language learning, with an aspiration that it will lead to improved English language attainment and better assessment results. This study aims at investigating the perspectives of students and teachers on the advantageous and disadvantageous impacts of CALL on learning and teaching English as a second language in one public school in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The results show that CALL has a facilitating role in L2 classroom and that using CALL activities is advantageous in reducing English learning tension, boosting motivation, catering for student diversity, promoting self-directed language learning and scaffolding while learning English. The results additionally report that numerous aspects like time constraints, teachers’ unsatisfactory computer skills, insufficient computer facilities, and inflexible school courses undesirably affect the implementation of CALL in English classrooms. It is recommended that further studies should be undertaken to investigate the actual effect of CALL on students’ language proficiency.

Working with English learners for many years, gives you the opportunity to encounter linguistic obstacles that they face while learning English language as a foreign language. Additionally, teaching for 13 years and observing the learning process, it enables you to recognize the students’ needs and at the same time, detect linguistic mistakes that they make, while practicing the target language. During my experience as a teacher, in terms of teaching and learning verbs in general and its grammatical categories in specific, it is noticed that Albanian learners find it relatively difficult the correct use of verbs in context and even more confusing the equivalent use of verbs in Albanian. Since verbs present an important part of speech, this study aims to investigate several differences and similarities between grammatical categories of verbs in English and Albanian. As a result, the Albanian learners of English language will be able to identify some of the major differences and similarities between the grammatical categories of verbs in English and Albanian; overcome the usual mistakes; gain the necessary knowledge regarding verbs and use them properly in English and Albanian.
