This study aims to be show damage in the intestine of mice caused by inoculation of the larvae of Anisakis spp. alive and who has died because of a warming 750C for 7 minutes. Eighteen male mice (Mus musculus) were divided into three groups: control group, a group of mice were inoculated the larvae of Anisakis spp. alive andgroups of mice were inoculated the larvae of Anisakis spp. who have died. 48 hours post inoculation, the mice’s intestines necropsy performed later performed HE staining to identify and scoring intestinal histopathology. The results showed inoculation of the larvae of Anisakis spp. either alive or dead induce histological changes in the intestine in the form of infiltration of inflammatory cells, epithelial changes and structural changes in the intestinal mucosa

Summary Objective: In the present study various tissues of pigs were investigated for the presence of histopathologic lesions after an experimental infection with Haemophilus (H.) parasuis serovar 5. Material and methods: Conventional pigs (n = 36) were divided into a control group B (n = 9) and a challenge group A (n = 27), which was infected intratracheally. Pigs that did not die prior to study termination were euthanized on day 14 post inoculation. Postmortem samples of the lung, heart, liver, kidney, spleen, left tarsal joint capsule and brain were collected. Results: All but one pig with detectable histopathologic lesions (n = 11) showed typical macroscopic changes. Histopatho logic examination of all tissue samples identified pyelitis (n = 10), synovitis (n = 7) and meningitis (n = 7) and all those animals were euthanized prior to study termination. No histopathologic lesions were found in pigs of the control group. The correlations between pyelitis and meningitis, pyelitis and synovitis and synovitis and meningitis were significant (p < 0.001). No significant correlation could be observed between the histopathologic and the clinical examination of the joints. The investigation of samples from the joints by PCR was not significantly correlated with the observed synovitis. The clinical observation of neurologic signs was significantly correlated with meningitis (p = 0.03). A significant correlation (p < 0.001) could be detected between meningitis and the detection of H. parasuis by PCR in brain samples. Conclusions: H. parasuis constantly causes clinical signs and pathologic lesions as soon as it infects the brain while it can infect the joints without causing histopathologic lesions. Pigs with histopathologic lesions do not always show typical clinical signs. Only few studies described the finding of kidney lesions in pigs with Glässer’s disease and this is the first study to describe a pyelitis in pigs experimentally infected with H. parasuis. The observed pyelitis mainly occurred in acute cases.

Abstract Background and Objective: To observe the effect of Xijiao Dihuang Decoction (XJDHT) on lung injury of sepsis mice with lipidomic analysis, and explore the underlying mechanisms.Materials and Methods: C57BL/6 mice were induced sepsis by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration. Animals are pretreated with XJDHT 2 days before LPS regimen, then continue treatment for addition 3 days. Lung tissue are collected for lipidomic analysis by LC/MS/MS. The survival rate is monitor after treatment. Results: After treatment with XJDHT, the histological changes of lung of the sepsis mice were relieved. The lipidomic profiles of the lung in sepsis group were evidently disordered when compared to the control group. A total of 40 significantly differential lipids expression between the sepsis-control groups were identified by multivariate statistical analysis. Septic lung injury may result from such lipid disorders, which are related to fatty acyls metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, phosphosphingolipids metabolism and glycerides metabolism. After XJDHT treatment, the lipidomic profiles of the disorders tend towards alleviated when compared to the sepsis group. Twelve lipid molecules were identified and some glycerophospholipids levels returned close to the normal level. Conclusion: Glycerophospholipid metabolism may play an important role in the treatment of septic lung injury using XJDHT.

Introduction: We aim to investigate the effect of vasectomy on the histology of the testis as well as to evaluate DNA fragmentation in testicular tissue of male mice. Methods: Bilateral vasectomy was performed on 20 mature male mice; 10 control mice underwent sham-operation. After 6 weeks, the testes were evaluated for histological changes and DNA fragmentation by single cell gel electrophoresis (comet assay). Results: Marked alterations were observed in the testes of vasectomized mice, including degeneration of spermatids, thickened basement membrane, dilatation of the seminiferous tubules, exfoliation of germ cells, reduction in the seminiferous cell population, vacuolated appearance of the epithelium in the tubules and marked interstitial fibrosis. Single cell gel electrophoresis showed a highly significant (P<0.0001) increase in DNA damage among vasectomized mice (46.02%) compared with control group (%27.17) after six weeks of operation. Conclusion: Vasectomy induced deterioration in the seminiferous tubules associated with increased testicular cell’s DNA fragmentation.

  Excessive continuous noises exposure changes the male hormone system which leads to formation of oxidative stress and results in disrupt of semen quality. This condition can be reduced by the use of antioxidants. Grape seed is one of the antioxidants that contains phenol components that have Resveratrol compounds. This research aimed to observe the effect of noise exposure on the number of spermatozoa of male mice given grape seed extract. The method of the research was a post-test only control group design with research subjects of 30 male Mus musculus L. (Swiss Webster) mice divided into 5 groups: group A (treatment control) was not given noise exposure and grape seed extract, group B (negative control) was not given noise exposure and was given grape seed extract, groups C, D, E (treatment group) were given noise exposure with sequential intensities of 65 dB, 85 dB, 105 dB. The treatment was given for 33 days. The results showed that noise exposure with different intensities of 65 dB, 85 dB, 105 dB reduced the spermatozoa count of male Swiss Webster mice even with the administration of grape seed extract. One Way Anova test was used to analyze the data with p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: There were differences in spermatozoa count between the control group and the treatment group. Provision of noise exposure with a value above the threshold limit reduces the number of male Swiss Webster mice spermatozoa given with grape seed extract. Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is widely used as a food additive. Excessive consumption of monosodium glutamate has also been shown to affect the liver and kidneys, causing damage to these tissues because of oxidative stress leading to increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The purpose of the study described in this paper was to find out how the liver and kidney toxicity caused by monosodium glutamate can be mitigated using pectin. To this end, 30 albino mice females were divided into four groups. The animals were distributed in special cages. 12-15 weeks with an average body weight of 60 grams. The animals were divided into four groups: the experimental control group (1) comprising 5 female mice were given normal drinking water and the treated group (2) comprising 10 female mice were given monosodium glutamate at a dose of 3 g/kg body weight in drinking water. For three weeks, the treatment group (3) comprising 10 female mice was given pectin at a dose of 300 mg/70 kg body weight in drinking water immediately after the monosodium glutamate dose for three weeks and the pectin group (4) comprising 5 female mice were given Pectin at a dose of 300 mg/70 kg body weight in drinking water for three weeks. The mice were then anesthetized, dissected, and liver and kidney samples were taken from female mice and kept in a 10% neutral formalin solution to make tissue segments. The results showed many histological changes in the liver, such as congestion of the central vein, widening of the sinuses, and the appearance of signs of the death of most hepatocytes, infiltration of the central vein and an invasion of inflammatory cells around the central vein with the emergence of several gaps within the cells. Many of them cavity with the death of most of the tubule cells, the closure of some of them and the expansion and infiltration in others and bleeding inside the tissue. Pectin therapy has led to the disappearance of most of these changes and the emergence of a clear improvement in hepatic and renal tissue.

Background: Male infertility has been on the rise since the past seven decades. Recently, in Libya, bee venom therapy (BVT) has become a popular method among alternative healthcare practitioners for treating male infertility. However, a literature search did not find any published studies that investigated the use of BVT for infertility treatment. Aim: To investigate the effect of bee venom on the male reproductive status through measurements of semen quality parameters and testicular histological changes in adult male mice. Methods: A total of 48 male mice were randomly divided into three experimental groups (which were subdivided into two subgroups with eight mice each) as follows: control, bee venom sting (BVS), and bee venom injection (BVI). The normal control subgroup mice were not subjected to any treatment, while the vehicle control subgroup mice were injected (i.p.) with 200 μl of 0.9% saline solution. In the BVS-treated subgroups, each mouse was stung by one live bee for five times (BVS-5) or seven times (BVS-7) every third day for 2 or 3 weeks. While each mouse in the BVI-treated subgroups received 23 μg/kg in a dose volume of 200 μl BVIs (i.p.) for five times (BVI-5) or seven times (BVI-7) every third day for 15 or 21 days. Results: The findings of this study showed that repeated bee venom treatment by sting or injection to adult male mice resulted in a significant decline in testosterone levels, sperm count, sperm motility, and a very significant increase in the percentage of abnormal sperm morphology; also, there were harmful testicular histological changes in the structural organization of seminiferous tubules and degenerative changes in the germinal epithelium compared to control group. Conclusion: The results of this study provide evidence for the low semen quality and adverse testicular histological changes in male mice treated with bee venom. Hence, there is a desperate need for educating alternative healthcare practitioners and infertile couples about the harmful effects of BVT on reproductive status.

This study aims to determine the effect of red dragon (Hylocereus polyrhizus) fruit peel extract (RDFPE) on the parameters of Leydig cells number, seminiferous tubules diameter, and testicular weight of mice (Mus musculus) exposed to heat (40°C). Twenty adult male mice were divided randomly into five groups. The control group (C) mice only received a placebo. Meanwhile, the treatment groups mice were exposed to heat for 45 minutes daily for 36 days and oral administration of placebo, RDFPE of 250, 500, and 1000mg/kg BW for T0, T1, T2, and T3, respectively. The result showed that heat exposure on mice (T0 group) caused a lower of all of the parameters (p <0.05) than normal mice (control group, C). RDFPE administration at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW (T1 group) and 500 mg/kg BW (T2 group) resulted in a higher value of those parameters (p <0.05) compared to the T0 group. All those parameters of the T2 group (dose of 500 mg/kg BW) were not significantly different (p >0.05) than the control group (normal mice). However, the higher dose of RDFPE (1000 mg/kg BW, T3 group) resulted in the lower values of those parameters (p <0.05) than those of the T2 group. It could be concluded that 500mg/kg BW dose of RDFPE could return Leydig cells number, seminiferous tubules diameter, and testicular weight of mice (Mus musculus) exposed to heat.

<p><strong>Background </strong>: <em>Avicennia alba </em>or known as mangrove api-api putih<em> </em>is a type of mangrove species which has many benefits and often to be used by the local Indonesians as traditional medicine. The alcaloid and flavonoid substances derived from <em>Avicennia alba </em>leaves<em> </em>could inhibit pain. This study aims to determine the analgesic effect of <em>Avicennia alba </em>leaves  extract in male mice (<em>Mus musculus L.</em>) induced by acetic acid 0,7%.<strong></strong></p><p class="Default"><strong>Method </strong>:25 mice were divided into 5 groups that were given different therapies. The therapy are 10 mL/kg bw of water, 150 mg/kg bw of acetosal, 250 mg/kg bw; 500mg/kg bw; 1000 mg/kg bw of <em>Avicennia alba </em>leaves extract. 0,7% acetic acid with dose of  10 mL/kg bw is given to each subject intraperitoneally 30 minutes after the therapy to induce pain. The pain is manifested as writhes in mice, the writhes then are counted repeatedly each 10 minutes for 30 minutes.</p><p class="Default"><strong>Result</strong>:<strong>:  </strong>mean of writhes in group treated with <em>Avicennia alba </em>leaves extract in 250 mg/kg bw and 500 mg/kg bw with each value 6,20 and 9,40 are less than mean of writhes in negative control group with value 31,40. %inhibition of <em>Avicennia alba </em>leaves extract with dose of 250 mg/kg bw and 500 mg/kg bw respectively are 80,25% and 70,06%.</p><p><strong>Conclusion </strong>: <em>Avicennia alba </em>leaves extract in 250 mg/kg bw and 500 mg/kg bw dosage showed analgesic effect in male mice (<em>Mus musculus L</em>.) induced with 0,7% acetic acid.</p><p><strong>Keywords </strong>:pain, analgesic, <em>Avicennia alba</em></p>

BACKGROUND: Valproic Acid (VPA) is a broad - spectrum antiepileptic drug. Its use duringpregnancy has been associated with hapatotoxicity. This study was designed to assess the effects of VPAon the Microscopic structure of the Liver of developing rats exposed to the drug during varioustrimesters of pregnancy.OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the histological changes in developing liver in rats exposed to valproic acidduring different fetal periods. To correlate the extent of liver injury during various developmentalperiods.MATERIAL AND METHODS: In this Experimental Study pregnant rats were divided in to fourgroups A, B, C and D. Group D(n=10) was kept as control group. Group A (n=10) was given VPA in adose of 500 mg/kg/day intraperito-nealy (I/P) on days 3, 4, 5 of gestation. Group B (n=10) received thesame dose I/P on days 8, 9, 10 of gestation while Group C (n=10) received the same dose I/P on days16, 17, and 18 of gestation. On day 21 rats were euthanized and liver of the fetuses were dissected outfor examination.RESULTS: The central vein was significantly dilated in all the groups. Also, there was significantincrease in the size of hepatocytes in all the groups. Moreover, significant inflammation and congestionin portal areas and congestion in sinusoids were observed in all the experimental groups.CONCLUSION: VPA use during pregnancy produces hepatotoxicity in developing rats.KEY WORDS: Valproic Acid, Developing rats, Hepatotoxicity.

Smoking is one of the habits that can affect human health. One type of cigarette that is currently the choice is electric cigarettes. The e-cigarette content includes nicotine, propylene glycol, flavorings and glycerin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of exposure to e-cigarette smoke on mice strain balb / c with the parameters of the number of spermatozoa. This study used 15 male mice which were 8-10 weeks old and weighed 25-30 grams of male mice which were divided into 3 treatment groups namely control group, treatment group one and treatment group two. In the control group no exposure to cigarette smoke was carried out while in the treatment group one was exposed to cigarette smoke in mice with a dose of 0 mg nicotine and the second treatment group was exposed to e-cigarette smoke at a dose of 18 mg nicotine. Electric cigarette smoke exposure is carried out for 30 days using a suction device from a syringe. The exposure of cigarette smoke is carried out every day with successive doses of 20 times as much as 3 times with a time lag of 10 minutes (5 minutes the chamber is closed and 5 minutes of the chamber is opened). The results showed that the average number of spermatozoa in the control group was 16.816 million / ml. The average number of spermatozoa in treatment one was 10.432 million / ml and the average number of spermatozoa in treatment two was 5.234 million / ml. This shows that exposure to cigarette smoke can reduce the number of spermatozoa from the control group to the first treatment by 42.56% and the second treatment shows a decrease from the first group by 34.65%.
