Abstract: The outrigger structural system is one of the horizontal load resisting systems. In this system the belt truss ties all the external columns on the periphery of the structure and the outriggers connect these belt trusses to the central core of the structure thus restraining the exterior columns from rotation. The shear wall was implemented to oppose lateral loads. To complete these characteristic the Outrigger & wall belt system used in the structure. In this project a G+10 Storey structure has analysed using seven different cases named as RA1 to RA7-OTB. 1 to 7 indicates single outrigger system, shear core outrigger system truss belt support system with optimized trusses, at various locations under seismic zone III. The built up area used for various case as 315 sq. m. After performing result analysis, the comparative analysis of all the cases shows that the most efficient case for the above study is Case RA4. Here for efficiency of the project, two types of optimized truss belt support which has performed well and observed as most optimized and correspondingly minimum in all the cases. Abstract: The requirement of tall building in recent years increase the construction to satisfy the need of human beings. Very tall buildings located in high velocity wind area are highly sensitive therefore calculation and analysis of wind load is very impotent. Due to change in climatic condition the basic wind speed are increases. The main aim of this paper is to introducing the different techniques which is used to reduce the effect of wind load or lateral loads. Keywords: wind analysis, comparative analysis, TMD (tuned mass damper),friction damper, shear wall

Earthquake is an unexpected and expensive disaster for both livelihood and economy. In the modern day construction, there has been a lot of importance to make the structure resistant against lateral loads for multi storied building. Shear walls are an option of lateral load resisting system. The Concept of designing shear wall is to provide building structure with sufficient strength and deformation capacity to sustain the demands imposed by lateral loads with adequate margin of safety. The study focuses on effect of shear wall on R.C. building at different heights. For this purpose five models of different heights 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m and 75m and with different aspect ratios of 1.33, 0.66, 0.44, 0.33 and 0.26 respectively have been considered. All the models were designed for seismic zone V. For analysis purpose response spectrum method of analysis is considered as per IS: 1893-2002. The comparative study has been done for base shear, storey displacement, storey drift and storey stiffness. Utilization of shear walls when placed at corners of the building of low aspect ratio in high rise buildings is more effective compared to the low rise buildings of higher aspect ratio, as it gives the larger base shear and lesser displacement. The storey stiffness and storey drift is greatly improved when shear wall is placed at corners of the building

Shear walls are a structural system which gives solidness or stability to structures from lateral loads like wind, seismic loads. The structural systems are fabricated by reinforced concrete, plywood/timber unreinforced, reinforced masonry at which these systems are subdivided into coupled shear walls, shear wall frames, shear panels and staggered walls. The present paper work was made in the interest of studying and analysis of various research works involved in enhancement of shear walls and their behaviour towards lateral loads. In SAP2000 analysis we found that when we apply lateral force between the stories the amount of compression and tension force between the stories obtained is equal to the manual analysis .In STAAD.PRO, we analyzed the light frame shear wall for seismic analysis. The estimated results for light frame shear wall with one storey, shear wall with two storey and shear wall with three storey shown similar to the results which are obtained by using FEM software like STAAD and SAP2000.

Abstract: It is highly recommend that the structure should be efficient in terms of the cost in diverse manner. To reduce the overall cost of the project, the cost cutting should be done in every construction stages. The dual systems in building structure consist of structural walls and moment resisting frames. The structural wall members are made up of RCC, which is a costly structural member. The purpose of current study is to explore the reduction in shear wall area in multi-storey building for reduction of overall project cost. Total 5 buildings abbreviated as SOA, SOB, SOC, SOD and SOE framed in analytical software supposed to be situated at Seismic Zone III. After the comparative result analysis, it proves that, the reduction in shear wall area should be adapted to a certain limit due to load transfer criteria of the members 20 % wall deduction is sufficient. Building SOD with 80% coverage performs best of all. Keywords: Deduction Area, Earthquake Effects, Opening Area, Shear Wall, Response spectrum, Wall Area Reduction, Wall Deduction Ratio.

Abstract: Structural design and analysis produces the capability of resisting all the applied loads without failure during its intended life. Lateral loads mainly due to earthquake govern the design of high-rise buildings. The interior structural system or exterior structural system provides the resistance to lateral loads in the structure. The present paper describes the analysis and design of high-rise buildings with Steel Plate Shear Wall (SPSW) for (G+20) stories. The properties of Steel plate shear wall system include the stiffness for control of structural displacement, ductile failure mechanism and high-energy absorption. The design and analysis of the composite building with steel plate shear wall is carried out using software ETABS. The present study is to carry out the response spectrum analysis of a high-rise composite building by optimizing the thickness of steel plate shear wall and to compare the results of displacement, story drift, overturning moment and story shear. The models are analyzed by Response Spectrum analysis as per IS 1893:2002. All structural members are designed as per IS 456:2002 & IS 800:2007 considering all load combinations. Shear walls are structural systems which provide stability to structures from lateral loads like wind, seismic loads. As shear wall resist major portions of lateral loads in the lowest portions of the buildings and the frame supports the lateral loads in the upper portions of the building which is suited for soft storey high rise building. The properties of these seismic shear walls dominate the response of the building and therefore, it is important to evaluate the seismic response of the walls appropriately. In this present study, main focus is to determine the solution for shear walls behavior in multi-storey building. Effectiveness of shear walls has been studied with the help of six different models. Model one is bare frame structural system, model two is dual frame structural system and model three is a complete shear wall structural system with internal walls in y-direction and model four is a similar model having internal shear walls in x-direction, model five is again a dual frame having columns at exterior and shear walls in interior placed in y-direction and model six is also an dual frame structure having columns at exterior and shear walls at interior placed in x-direction. An earthquake load is applied to a building of G+15 stories located in zone III, type of soil II and various other factors are considered. Parameters like displacement and storey drift are calculated in all the cases replacing column with shear walls and their locations.

This paper is to investigate the benefits of a new structural system (hereafter it is referred as “Ultra Hybrid System”) in high concrete buildings relying on the compound performance of the moment resistance frame, shear wall and infilled frame. In this case, the Ultra Hybrid System takes the advantage of the moment resistance frame and shear wall up to the height, where the wall performance reaches zero, while it is applied the infilled frame along with it. It is studied the system behavior based on using concrete-brick infilled frames in the upper floors to find out the interaction between the shear wall and infilled frame. Then, it is compared displacement, relative floor displacement, base shear, axial column loads in a hybrid system of the moment resistance frame and shear wall and the Ultra Hybrid System of the moment resistance frame, shear wall, and infilled frame. In this study, ETABS 2000 software package )Barkhordari et al., 2001) is used to model the system in compression diagonal mode. Finally, the results are presented in diagrams and tables.

Considering the increase in the current construction process and the future needs of Iran, the necessity to use high-rise buildings for reduction in urbanization costs and optimal use of land will be inevitable in the future. The performance of steel plate shear wall system as a modern global system, which has an effective application in high-rise buildings and also brings economic benefits compared to previous systems, is evaluated in this study. Steel Plate Shear Walls (SPSW) are a new type of system resistant to wind and earthquake lateral loads, which dates back to the 1970s. In this research, eight samples of shear wall with various stiffening arrangements and sections with ST37 and ST52 alloys are modeled. To evaluate the nonlinear dynamic analysis, the samples are subjected to the San Fernando earthquake force and are modeled and analyzed by ABAQUS software based on the finite element theory. The results of analyzing the samples indicate better performance of the system with stiffener in both vertical and horizontal directions. Also, the use of sections with ST52 alloy has improved the performance of the shear wall by approximately 40%.

Indonesia is one of the countries in the earthquake region. Therefore, it is necessary to build earthquake-resistant buildings to reduce the risk of material and life losses. Reinforced Concrete (RC) shear walls is one of effective structure element to resist earthquake forces. Applying RC shear wall can effectively reduce the displacement and story-drift of the structure. This research aims to study the effect of shear wall location in symmetric medium-rise building due to seismic loading. The symmetric medium rise-building is analyzed for earthquake force by considering two types of structural system. i.e. Frame system and Dual system. First model is open frame structural system and other three models are dual type structural system. The frame with shear walls at core and centrally placed at exterior frames showed significant reduction more than 80% lateral displacement at the top of structure.
