The article is an overview of the VI Scientific and Practical Conference «Internet beyond 2020» (April 22-24, 2021) organized by the online school of Internet research with the support of the Higher School of Economics. The conference program included workshop reports and round tables on the role of the global network, the evolution of art and education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference brought together representatives of social sciences and humanities (sociologists, cultural scientists, linguists), artists, designers, and specialists in the field of Internet studies. The organizers and participants of the conference tried to answer various questions, including the following. Is a modern person witnessing the emergence of fundamentally new anthropological practices? Is it possible to obtain a comprehensive picture of digital realities from single events of Internet studies, as well as predict the emergence and development of yet unknown social and anthropological transformations? Is it possible for a post-pandemic narrative conceptualizing the heterogeneous eventuality of our time to emerge?

This paper deals with the role of social sciences, and more specifically of geography and regional planning, in the legitimization of European integration and neo-liberal economic and social reforms introduced since 1989 in Poland and, more broadly, in post-communist Central and Eastern Europe. Using the example of an intellectual biography of Antoni Kukliński, one of the most prominent Polish geographers, the role of the old intelligentsia elite and its American professional experiences in the evolution of the Polish academia is also analyzed, as well as its involvement in the first non-communist government. The paper also discusses the absence of critical schools within the field of Polish geography as well as other disciplines of social sciences. This is done though the reconstruction of the basic structure of the given academic field and its evolution over time from late communist period to present days. This specific structure of the field of Polish geography, which as it is argued is similar to other fields of social sciences and humanities in Poland, also helps to better contextualize the trajectory of Kukliński.

Ever since its beginnings, mathematics has occupied a special position among all sciences, natural, as well as social sciences and humanities. It has not only provided a role model in terms of methodology, particularly when it comes to natural sciences, but other sciences have always relied on mathematics extensively both in their development and for solving various open questions. The beginning of the 21st century foregrounded the issue of the so-called explanatory role of mathematics in science. However, the reference literature features only a few examples as illustration of this role. This paper aims at showing that those examples, even though they are used for illustrating precisely the same purpose, also illustrate various explanatory scopes which mathematical tools can reach within a scientific explanation. Some of these examples also show how mathematics, unfortunately, provides false credibility to scientific explanations.

The role of Statistics as one of the fields of science that functions to plan, collect, analyze, interpret, and represent data as a basis for decision making is very important for the development of science and technology. Therefore, it is not surprising that Statistics is widely used in various other disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Given that not all statistical users have a Mathematics education background, the use of SPSS program tools is an alternative that should be considered. Unfortunately, in the application, SPSS users are more just following procedural steps without understanding why they are doing it. The impact is that many SPSS users find it difficult to analyze statistical data and increasingly dislike statistics. This study aims to determine statistical anxiety conditions in students using SPSS. The results of this study indicate that the majority of students in this study (n = 105, 73.4%) did not show statistics anxiety through the four main domains measured. Thirty-one students (21.7%) showed anxiety in one domain, four students (2.8%) showed anxiety in two domains and three students (2.1%) showed anxiety in three domains. There were no students in this study who showed anxiety in all four domains as well as being measured.

The scientific context of studying the historiography of the history of political and legal doctrines is associated with its positioning within the structure of the indicated historical legal science, and represents a challenging problematic that orients the researcher towards understanding the processes of development of this science through the prism of historiography as a reflection of its history. This necessitates to determine the subject field, objectives, tasks, and functions of historiography within the structure of the indicated science, which is the key vector of this research. At the same time, the analysis of these questions leans on universal vision of the development of historiography in the social sciences and humanities. The scientific novelty is defined by the fact that the historiographical problematic in the history of political and legal doctrines is studied insufficiently; therefore, this article is the first attempt to position historiography as a scientific discipline of historical legal trend, and present an original perspective on the topic. Emphasis is placed on examination of the key characteristics of historiography as part of history of political and legal doctrines: subject matter, objectives, tasks, and functions. At the same time, the author relies on the historiographical developments in social sciences and humanities, namely in the historical science, based on which presents an original perspective on the role of historiography as a part of history of political and legal doctrines is.

The climate crisis has become not only serious but urgent problem too. A lot of years have been wasted in palliative measures that have not solved the problems. And those wasted years have closed the space to search for solutions inside the framework of some kind of Green capitalism. At the present time, solutions to the climate crisis are still possible, but they will require drastic, even systematic measures. This article analyzes the role of capitalism in creating and deepening climate crisis. Capitalism is not only a type of economy but a type of society. It has achieved hegemony in the field of ideas and values, socializing people and internalizing its values among the losers of the system, as well as among its beneficiaries. Due to this, overcoming capitalism is not an easy or simple task. However, as it is argued in the article, the only humane alternative to overcome climate crisis is to overcome capitalism as a type of economy and a type of society. The possibility of infusing entrepreneurship into higher education has incited much enthusiasm globally. A sub-domain of entrepreneurial education lies within the scope of social development and recognized as social academic entrepreneurship (SAE) education. Analysis of SAE intention at HEIs is scarce in Pakistan, and this pioneer study systematically analyzes key tenants of SAE including institutional factors, role of faculty and leadership, and strategic inclination to sustain SAE ecosystem within the faculties of social sciences and humanities at a liberal art university in Pakistan. The questionnaire is built on Hindle bridge framework and quadruple helix model for innovation. Results indicate that the study sample is at risk of exhibiting effective SAE and outlines strategies for mindfully curating a trajectory towards SAE education.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the specifics of trends in the development of modern epistemology and the peculiarities of the methodology of socio-humanitarian cognition in the context of determining the values and priorities of society. The problems of social epistemology are revealed, the depth of this issue, its openness to further research is shown. It is proved that the context of social epistemology helps to look in a new way at the fundamental values for society, at the theoretical and practical issues of social conditionality of cognition and knowledge. An overview of its basic concepts and problems is given, an analysis of the relations of social epistemology with other social sciences and humanities is made, examples of its application in situational research are   demonstrated, its theoretical origins and a number of the most important discussions are reconstructed. The contribution that makes this direction to modern philosophy is shown. The theoretical significance of social epistemology is determined by the central role of society in the process of knowledge formation. Its practical importance is due to its possible role in the restructuring of social institutions focused on the storage, processing and production of information. The analysis shows that the methodology of social cognition should be based on the principles of objectivity, unity of logical and historical, social theory and practice.

Despite the ambiguous attitude of legal researchers to the place and role of legal customs in modern legal systems, this topic is of great interest in domestic science. The transitive nature of Russian society is a recognized reason. The goal was set — to conduct a comparative analysis of approaches to this phenomenon in three social sciences and humanities — philosophy, cultural studies and legal anthropology. Based on the analysis of a number of works of the last 5 years, it was concluded that the greatest cognitive potential is contained in legal anthropology — a relatively young science that studies the legal existence of mankind (and its constituent ethnic groups, peoples, nations) at all stages of the development of this existence, from archaic to modern.
