This study is an experiment with pre test-post test control group design having a goal to analyze  the role of Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) strategy on students’ mathematical communication  ability (MCA) and leraning interest (MLI). The study  involves 58 eighth grade students, a mathematical communication test, a mathematical  learning interest scale. The study found, on MCA, its N Gain, and on MLI, students getting treatment with PQ4R strategy attained better grades than the grades  of students taught by conventional teaching. The first group students attained at medium grade level on MCA and fairly good grade level on MLI, while the second group students  obtained  at low grade level on MCA, medium grade level on MLI, and they realized few difficulties in some  items of  mathematical communication tasks. The other findings, there was no association between MCA and MLI

The purpose of this study is to analyze  the role of mathematics realistic education (RME)  approach on students’ mathematical critical  thinking  and resiliency. This study is an experiment with pre test-post test control group design and involves 62  eleventh grade students, a mathematical critical  thinking test, a mathematical  resiliency scale, and a perception on RME approach scale. The study found, on mathematical critical   thinking  ability (MCTA), its N Gain, and  mathematical resiliency (MR) students getting treatment with RME approach attained better grades than the grades  of students taught by conventional teaching. The first group students attained at medium grade level on MCTA and fairly good grade level on MR, while the second group students  obtained  at low grade level on MCTA, medium grade level on MR, and they realized difficulties in some  items of  mathematical critical  thinking tasks. The other findings, there was no association between MCTA and MR, and students learned actively, thought critically and creatively, were unafraid to pose their opinion and performed to be  self confident during  RME approach.

This study is a pre test-post test experiment with control group design having a goal to analyze  the role of scientific approach on students’ mathematical communication ability (MCA) and self confidence (SC). The study involves 46  eleventh grade Vocational School students, a mathematical communication test, a mathematical  self confidence scale (MSC), and a perception on scientific approach scale. The study found that on MCA and its Normalized Gain (N<G>), students getting treatment with scientific approach attained  better grades than the grades of students taught by conventional teaching, but both student’s grades were still at low-medium level.  On MSC,  there was no different grades between students on both teaching approaches, and those grades were at medium level.  The other findings, there is no association between MCA and MSC, and students performed high perception toward scientific approach.

This study aimed at investigating of the effect of using word family game committed by the fifth grade student in SD Negeri 1 Astina in mastering the English vocabulary. This study was True-Experimental with post-test only control group design. The population was 59 students of the fifth grade and the sample was selected by using cluster random sampling. The sample of this research study was 22 students in 5A as an Experimental Group while 22 students in 5B as a Control Group. The experimental group was taught by using Word Family Game and control group was taught without using Word Family Game. The data was analyzed descriptively and inferentially through SPSS 16.0 Program. Descriptively, the students in experimental group were achieved better than the students in control group. It was proven by the result of the mean score of the experimental group was 90.45, while the mean score of control group was 83.18. The result of the t-test also showed that the score of the (tobs) was 3.393 which the score of (tcv) was 1.682 which based on the degree of freedom was 42. It showed that the (tobs) > (tcv), where: 3.393 > 1.682. It could be concluded that the word family game had a significant effect on the students’ vocabulary mastery rather than using conventional teaching.

This research is motivated by the importance of mathematical communication ability. Mathematical communication ability of students is still low. In order that this problem can be solved, a learning model that can enhance mathematical communication ability of students is required. In this research, CORE model learning with scientific approach was selected. This study aims to analyze the enhancement of mathematical communication ability. This research was a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The population was students in eighth grade in one of the junior high schools in Jambi.  The sample consisted of two classes which were selected by purposive sampling. The instrument of this research is a test of mathematical communication ability. The data were analyzed by using Independent t-test. Based on the data analyzed, it is found that: The enhancement of mathematical communication ability of students who received the CORE learning model with scientific approach is better than the enhancement of students who received conventional learning.

The method used is quasi experiment with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The 5th grade students of MTsN 2 Purwakarta, which were 5 classes, were used as the population for this study while the research samples were class VIIA as the experimental class and VIIE as the control class. Determination of the sample is taken by the researcher accepting the state of the subject as it is after being grouped not randomly purely to be subjected to the treatment of mathematics learning through Realistic Mathematics Education approach and conventional approach. Instrument of research in the form of test instrument of mathematical communication ability. The results show that the improvement of students' mathematical communication ability using RME approach is better than using the usual approach.b

AbstractThis study was aimed at determining the effectiveness of schoology based e-learning on the mathematical communication ability of junior high school students on the Linier Equation System of Two Variables (LESTV). The population in this study were all students of class VIII junior high school in Cirebon. The sample consisted of two classes, VIII-B2 as an experimental class applying schoology and VIII-C2 as a control class without using schoology. The sampling process used purposive sampling technique. This type of research used was a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The data collection techniques were carried out by tests of mathematical communication skills and response questionnaires. The data were analyzed using normality test, homogeneity test, t-test, and gain test. The results show that the students of experimental class that use schoology have higher ability than the students of the control class. The average N-gain obtained is 0.68 and as moderate category. The students have a positive response to learning using schoology. Through the schoology application, students allow to learn continuously without being limited by the classroom and effectively used as a medium in learning.
