Language plays important role in the history and culture of any nation. Nationality is largely identified with the idea of language. What affects the life of the language? Why do some of them disappear, while others expand their distribution areas? How can language be regarded as historically given phenomenon and to what extent as a construct, the result of “social engineering” and ideological work? Throughout the world, the multiculturalism of society is growing, and the problem of preserving the ethno-cultural identity of the population, transferring the traditions of its fathers and grandfathers to the younger generation is becoming more urgent in these conditions. Preparing young people for life in a multilingual and multicultural society, it is important to find a balance between ethnic and cultural needs of a citizen of the country and population consolidation tasks in the interests of a united state. The report will focus on school education in national languages, and the problem of their preservation and study in Russia’s regions.

There are many levers both to construct social differences and to eliminate them. In my opinion, one of the most effective tools to socially construct identities is educational policy. People belong to certain cultural traditions primarily due to upbringing and socialization. Education, especially school education, plays a significant role in the educational process. The article describes various issues of school education in ethnic languages and the problem of preservation of these languages in the regions of Russia. To what extent is language a historically given phenomenon and to what extent is it a construct, the result of “social engineering” and ideological work? Language is not just a tool of communication in a social group, but it also provides a feeling of uniqueness among other nations and states. National and ethnic identity should be viewed in close connection with language. Now, when the multiculturalality of society is growing all over the world, the problem of preserving the ethnocultural identity of a population, passing the traditions of fathers and grandfathers to the younger generation is becoming increasingly urgent. While preparing young people for life in a multilingual and multicultural society, it is important to find a balance between the ethnic and cultural needs of a citizen on the one hand and the tasks of consolidating the population in the interests of a single state  – on the other.

The practice of working with business cases contradicts all basic school education organizations' canons. Judge for yourself: the authors of the cases do not know initially how to solve them. They often do not even guess which methods they should use to do so. Moreover, they are not always sure that they formulate the problem correctly. However, students for some reason find such problems to be the most interesting to solve. The middle adolescence is the age when young people are in search of themselves. Therefore, these cases, dictated by the chaos of a changing life, serve as a real window to the world of future destiny for them. The chapter will consider the process of selecting enterprises that can become the authors of cases, reveal the stages of case creation, describe the problems that the designers of cases are faced with, analyze in detail the experience of organizing the educational process based on cases with schoolchildren, and provide examples of high quality scientific and technological cases.

This article describes one of the effects of globalization on young Muslims in Indonesia. They interact with a variety of cultural products from all corners of the world. Focusing on Indonesia, this article argues that the emergence of globalization has provided opportunities for young Muslims to negotiate Islamic value representations of Korean TV dramas. Using ethnography method, this article selects young Indonesian Muslims who like Korean television drama as informants. The emergence of transnational cultural products was believed to play an important role in the process of 'cultural imperialism' among young people. The information and views presented are not considered to be a ‘healthy’ menu for Muslim youth. In fact, in cultural studies, media imperialism or cultural imperialism is famously contested. By interviewing and observing 42 informants, this article finds that Muslim youth do not receive all the messages from the media passively. During their consumption on Korean television dramas, young Muslims are negotiating their representations. They are capable of selecting values from the television dramas. These Muslim consumers in this context do not just accept all the messages and representations of Korean television dramas. Indonesian Muslim youth have an innate cultural identity and conscious knowledge, which they have obtained from their learning environments such as education and culture. Muslim youth interpret "stories" in drama by relating them to their Islamic values. Keywords: Negotiation, representations, Islamic values, youth, Korean TV dramas.

In our plural society, interfaith marriages and multicultural families have become a new normal and are either considered problematic for the religious communities or welcomed as a contribution to a secular and more peaceful world. In the course of my work with European Muslims, I could accompany such families through a few generations. In this article, I am going to outline some typical challenges and crises in such relationships and their effects on young people growing up in mixed families, adding my observations of how they can be dealt with. Ultimately, there is a chance that, through dialogue, it provides a meaningful learning environment that prepares young people for the diverse reality of the world today.

The article reveals the features of the essential understanding of religious extremism and organizational and legal prevention of this phenomenon. Attention is drawn to the importance of preventive work as part of the prevention of antisocial (deviant) behavior. The authors consider the reasons and conditions for the formation of religious extremism and the filling of the Internet. The online community is facing a massive information threat from extremist organizations. This is due to the catastrophically lightning-fast spread of radical ideologies, the general computerization and informatization of social processes, which facilitates the process of distributing materials of an extremist nature. Religious extremism is a source of armed conflict throughout the world. The victims of this terrible phenomenon, as a rule, are children, adolescents, young people and girls - whom it is easy to lure into networks of ideological deception. Religious extremism is dangerous not only the destruction of social objects and values, murders, terror. The ideology of extremism itself, which distorts the worldview and the human psyche, is much more dangerous. Religious extremism is a source of armed conflict throughout the world. This chapter offers a historical account of the presence of Paradise Lost in translation and Polish literature, especially how the poem’s reception in Poland has been shaped by complex modes of linguistic and cultural transfer. The chapter explores the historical and political contexts in which Paradise Lost was translated into Polish, discusses the most important actors involved in its publication, and analyses the strategies employed by the translators. It demonstrates that the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century translators of Milton, who worked at a time when Poland had lost its political sovereignty, focused specifically on the form of the poem, presenting models for a modern Polish epic poem that could help sustain Polish cultural identity. The focus of the twentieth-century translators, who lived through the world wars, shifted from the form to the rich imagery of Milton’s poem, in particular his exploration of the themes of vanity, destruction, and exile.

This chapter deals with Indian ‘innovations for the millions’ (I4M)—new products, processes, and institutional arrangements—that sustainably improve the quality of life of those at the base of the pyramid. Taking ten examples which originated from the private, public, NGO and cooperative sectors, the chapter suggests that these innovations are a response of the ‘elite of calling’ to the Indian paradox – high growth in a large economy, co-existing with a very large number at the base of the pyramid. The chapter argues that a more supportive ecosystem needs to be built to foster I4M, including reforms in regulation and taxation, and attracting bright young people. If that happens Indian I4M can serve billions at the base of the pyramid around the world.

Sexual and gender minority (SGM) young people are coming of age at a time of dynamic social and political changes with regard to LGBTQ rights and visibility around the world. And yet, contemporary cohorts of SGM youth continue to evidence the same degree of compromised mental health demonstrated by SGM youth of past decades. The authors review the current research on SGM youth mental health, with careful attention to the developmental and contextual characteristics that complicate, support, and thwart mental health for SGM young people. Given a large and rapidly growing body of science in this area, the authors strategically review research that reflects the prevalence of these issues in countries around the world but also concentrate on how mental health concerns among SGM children and youth are shaped by experiences with schools, families, and communities. Promising mental health treatment strategies for this population are reviewed. The chapter ends with a focus on understudied areas in the SGM youth mental health literature, which may offer promising solutions to combat SGM population health disparities and promote mental health among SGM young people during adolescence and as they age across the life course.
