Stem and stump of bananas have potential to be used as an alternative for ruminant feed. However, one of the problem is its rapidly decomposing which affect high of water content. The alternative way to solve this matter by using silage. The aim of this study was to determine the nutritional quality of banana waste silage (stems and stump) with the addition of molasses with different levels. The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design in factorial 3 × 3 with two replications. The first factor (A) was the composition of the substrate, A1: stump 100% + stem 0%, A2: stump 50% + stem 50%, and A3: stump 0% + stem 100%, while the second factor (B) was the levels of molasses (0; 2.5; and 5%). The parameters measured were dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, extract ether, ash and BETN. The results showed that the composition of the substrate has significant effect (P<0.05) increased content of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, BETN, but did not significant (P>0.05) on extract ether and ash content. There was an interaction (P<0.05) between the substrate composition and the addition of molasses on the content of the ash. The best composition for increasing the nutrient content was stump 100% + stemps 0%. It is conclude that the compostion of stump and stemps may affect the nutrient quality of silage.

This study was aimed to determine the nutrient quality of the ramie plant (Boehmeria nivea) at various cut ages. The research was conducted in the village of Kampung Marga Marga Mulya Bakti RT. 01 RW. 13 Cikandang districts, Garut. The design used was completely randomized design with four (4) treatments and five (5) replications, namely; the treatment of 15-days cutting-age, 30-days cutting-age, 45-days cutting-age, and 60-days cutting-age. The results showed that the cutting age had significant effect (p <0.05) on crude protein, crude fiber content, and the lignin content of ramie forage. The older cutting age had the decreased crude protein content, while increased the crude fiber and lignin content. The best cutting age of ramie plant as forage for optimal nutrients quality was 30 days.

ABSTRACT. This study was conducted in UPTD (Unit Pelaksana Tugas Dinas) Saree Aceh Besar about 4 weeks. The matter of this study are 4 kinds of grass there are rumput benggala (panicum maximum) rumput BD (Brachiaria decumbent). The grass that use in this study ditanam mixe with stylosanthes guyanesis legume, while the additive in silage is molasses. The study was designed into Completely Randomized Design (CDR) Factorial 4x3. There were 3 replications. First factor was R1 (Rumput Benggala + Stylosanthes guyanesis), R2 (Rumput lampung+Stylosanthes guyanesis), R3 (Rumput BD + Stylosanthes guyanesis), R4 (Rumput Star grass + Stylosanthes guyanesis) and the second factor were 3 level there were M1 (0%0,M2(3%) dan M3 (5%). Invetigated variabes included pH, Dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, ash and water containet..The data were analyzed by an analysis of variance and as a significant effect was detected, the analysis was contained by Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT), Steel and Torrie (1991). The result of this study showed that the different of several grass have hight significantly (P,0.010 of dry matter, crude protein, ash and water containing but have no significantly on pH and crude fiber silage. The diferent among molasses have significantly on pH, crude protein and crude fiber silage. From BNT test showed that molasses increased dry matter and crude protein of silage compared to no molasses added. However, th used of molasses decreased crude fiber and water contain compared to no molasses added. The quality of silage found at level of 5.5% molasses especially on star grass (R4M3). The study concluded that using different level molasses es on several grass producted better silage than without molasses.

(Improvement of fermented bagasse quality as animal feed by fermentation through administration of sago flour at different levels)ABSTRACT. Feed plays an important role in livestock production system. Due to limitation of pasture and forege areas, it needs to find new feed alternative as replacement of forage as animal feed. One of feed alternatives as replacement of forage is bagasse. Bagasse has low nutritive content and digestibility. One of the efforts to improve bagasse quality is by fermentation. The purpose of this experiment was to improve nutritive values of bagasse by fermentation method by using Trichoderma harzianum as inoculum. This research was conducted at Animal Nutrition Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Department, Agricultural Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh from January to April 2015. The experiment was designed by completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments (addition of sago flour at defferent levels); R1 control (0% sago flour), R2 (5% sago flour), R3 (10% sago flour), R4 (15% sago flour) of fermented material. Each treatment has 4 replications, therefore there were 16 units of treatment. Parameters observed in this experiment were nutritive values of fermented bagasse including the contents of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber and ash. The results of the experiments indicated that fermented bagasse with Trichoderma harzianum by addition of various levels of sago flour had significantly effect (P0, 05) on crude fiber and ash contents. However, there were not significantly difference (P0, 05) on dry matter and crude protein contents. In conclusion, addition of various levels of sago flour by using Trichoderma harzianum at fermented bagasse was able to improve nutritive values of fermented bagasse.

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in protein content and decrease in crude fiber in complete feed silage based on rice straw and lamtoro leaves as ruminant feed. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatment levels and 3 replications namely J0 = 100% rice straw (control), J1 = 60% rice straw and lamtoro leaves 40% J2 = 70% rice straw and lamtoro leaves 30% J3 = 80% rice straw and lamtoro leaves 20%. The results showed that the combination of rice straw and lamtoro leaves had a very significant effect on the value of crude protein and crude fiber in complete feed silage. The highest average to the lowest protein content was J1 (11.45), J2 is equal to (9.50), J3 is equal to (8.44), and J0 is equal to (6.60). The average value of the highest crude fiber content to the lowest is (35.19), J3 is equal to (33.82), J2 is equal to (32.35), and J1is equal to (30.55). From the results of the study it is known that the best treatment that can be recommended is J1 treatment with a combination of 60% rice straw and lamtoro leaves 40%. This study was conducted from January to March 2013 in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau and analysis of the nutrient content in Ruminant Nutrition Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Andalas University in Padang. This study aimed to determine the effect of buffalo feces with different levels of fermentation fruit oil palm fiber (SBKS) for 21 day against pH, fermentation quality, dry matter content, crude fiber, crude protein, ash and BETN. The method used in this study is completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment given is the number of buffalo feces levels (0%, 10%, 20% and 30%). The results showed that the addition of up to 30% buffalo feces fermentation SBKS gave highly significant effect (P <0.0 l) on the pH, but not significant effect (P> 0.05) increase levels of dry matter, crude protein and BETN, and declining levels of crude fiber and crude fat levels.

There seach objective was to determine the productivity and nutrient content of Paspalumconjugatum, Brachiariadecumbens, Digitariamilanjiana by buffalo fermented compost. The research was conducted at the Goat Farm Research Station SeiPutih, SubdistrictGalang, LubukPakam, North Sumatra from October 2015 through February 2016. The design used was split plot design (plots divided) with mainplotwas kind of grass A1 (Paspalumconjugatum), A2 (Brachiariadecumbens), A3 (Digitariamilanjiana) and the subplot was fertilizer dose as the level (0, 10, 20 and 30 t/ha/y). The parameters studied were production of fresh, high plant, number of tillers, dry matter, crude protein, and crude fiber. The results showed that administration of buffalo fermented compost better than without the use of fertilizers. Dosing compost significant affect (P<0.05) in increasing production of fresh, high plant, number of tillers, dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber. The conclusion of this study that the best dose was 30 t/ha/y of buffalo fermented compost and the best interactions was dose of 30 ton/ha/year on Digitariamilanjiana.

Waste vegetable of traditional market provided very abundant and rarely used. German mealworm known as giant meal worms are the larvae of insects named Zhopobas morio parent has a size larger than the hongkong mealworm. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of vegetable waste in feed media of German mealworm which has a different nutrient content. This experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial design with treatment G1P1 (GE 4000 kcal / kg, PK 10%), G1P2 (GE 4000 kcal / kg, PK 12%), G1P3 (GE 4000 kcal / kg, PK 14% ), G2P1 (GE 4500 kcal / kg, PK 10%), G2P2 (GE 4500 kcal / kg, PK 12%), G2P3 (GE 4500 kcal / kg, PK 14%), G3P1 (GE 5000 kcal / kg PK 10 %) G3P2 (GE 5000 kcal / kg PK 12%), G3P3 (GE 5000 kcal / kg PK 14%), each treatments replicated 3 times. The results of the research showed that the application of vegetable waste in german worm feed media is able to increase the use of feed concentrates containing gross energy and crude protein low. Vegetable waste treatment in feed media which containing gross energy of 4000 kcal / kg and 14% crude protein showing the highest value on dry matter feed intake, weight of the harvest, and worm weight gain.

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui proses fermentasi yang tepat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas protein kasar dan serat kasar pada biji kecipir dan menentukan level terbaik penambahan jamur Trichoderma viride yang mampu meningkatkan kualitas protein kasar dan serat kasar pada biji kecipir sehingga mampu meningkatkan kualitas dan tingkat kecernaan. Produk yang akan dihasilkan pada penelitian ini adalah alaternatif pakan fermentasi biji kecipir (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) untuk peternak unggas. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan yaitu P0 = biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung tanpa fermentasi; P1 = Biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung + 0,1% jamur Trichoderma viride (Tv); P2 = biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung + 0,2% Tv; dan P3 = biji kecipir dengan 10% tepung jagung + 0,3% Tv. Materi yang digunakan adalah biji kecipir yang dihaluskan digunakan sebagai substrat dan dihomogenkan dengan cara diaduk. Masing-masing sampel perlakukan ditimbang sebanyak 100 g, kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam kantong plastik dengan ketebalan 2 cm  dan dilubangi agar tercipta suasana aerob. Selanjutnya diinkubasikan dalam ruang fermentor pada suhu 30oC selama 7 hari. Masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Peubah yang diamati pH, suhu, protein kasar dan serat kasar. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi perubahan suhu, penurunan pH, serta kenaikan pada protein kasar dan penurunan serat kasar.Kata kunci: biji kecipir, Trichoderma viride, pH, suhu, protein, serat kasar ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to determine the proper fermentation process used to improve the quality of crude protein and crude fiber in winged beans and the best level of addition of Trichoderma viride fungus which could improve the quality of crude protein and crude fiber in winged beans to improve feed quality and digestibility. The result product of this study is an alternative fermented winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) feed for poultry farmers. This study utilized completely randomized design with four treatments. P0 = Unfermented winged beans with cornstarch, P1 = winged beans with 10% cornstarch + 0,1% Trichoderma viride fungus (Tv), P2 = winged beans with 10% cornstarch + 0,2% Tv, P3 = winged beans with 10% cornstarch + 0,3% Tv. The material used were powdered winged beans as substrate then homogenized by stirring. Each sample was weighed 100 g, then put into a plastic bag with a 2 cm thickness and perforated to create an aerobic atmosphere. Subsequently, the sample was incubated in a fermenter room at 30oC for 7 days. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Variables observed for pH, temperature, crude protein, and crude fiber. The result of this study concluded that there were change in temperature, decrease in pH, increase in crude protein, and decrease in crude fiber.Keywords: winged beans, Trichoderma viride, pH, temperature, protein, crude fiber

An experiment with aim to study the effect of probiotics combination level and length of fermentation on qualityimprovement of rice straw had been conducted at the Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed of Animal HusbandryFaculty, Mataram University. The research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design in factorialarrangement 3 x 3 with 3 replications. The first factor was the level of probiotics (0, 2 and 4%), the second factorwas the period of fermentation (2, 4 and 6 weeks).The variables measured were crude protein, crude fiber, NDF,ADF, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and in vitro digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. Data wereanalyzed by analysis of variance and tested further by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The result show thattreatments combination of the probiotics level and fermentation period did not affect (P>0.05) the chemicalcomposition and digestibility. The level of probiotics increased (P<0.05) the crude protein and in vitro dry matterdigestibility. Meanwhile, the lenght of fermentation increased the crude protein and in vitro digestibility of drymatter and organic matter, but decreased the crude fiber, NDF, ADF, cellulose, and hemicellulose of Amofer ricestraw.

<p>The study was conducted to evaluate the forage production of arbila (Phaseolus lunatus) and sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) in intercropping grown on different spacing of arbila and number row of sorghum, and was designed as completely randomized design of factorial pattern with two factors. The first factor was the spacing of arbila (J) i.e. J1 (120 cm) and J2 (180 cm). The second factor was row number of sorghum (P) i.e. P1 (1 row), P2 (2 rows), P3 (3 rows) with 3 replications. The variables were dry matter (DM) production, organic matter (OM) production, crude protein (CP)<br />production of forage, and Land Equivalent Ratio (LER). The results showed that highest DM production at J1P2 and J1P3 (5.33 and 4.53 tons/ha), highest OM production at J1P2 and J1P3 (5.33 and 4.57 tons/ha), highest CP production at J1P1, J1P2 and J1P3 (0.55, 0.77, and 0.55 tons/ha), and highest LER at J1P2 and J1P3 (2.53 and 2.38). It can be concluded that the intercropping arbila and sorghum at planting space of 120 cm with 2 and 3 row of sorghums between arbilas produces the best forage production as ruminant feed.<br />Key words: Phaseolus lunatus, Sorghum bicolor, intercropping, spasing, row number, forage</p>
