ABSTRACT This study aims to (1) describe the values of character education contained, (2) describe the values of character education that often appear in, (3) describe character education values which rarely appears, and (4) describes the values of character education that are not in the short stories of the Singgalang Daily newspaper. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Based on the results of the study, the values of character education studied in the short story of the Singgalang Daily newspaper were found. First, the short stories contained in the Singgalang Daily newspaper contain eighteen values of character education, namely the value of religious character education, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, democratic, independent, curiosity, national spirit, love for the country , appreciates achievement, is friendly/communicative, loves peace, likes to read, cares about the environment, cares for the social, and takes responsibility. Second, the value of character education that often arises is the value of friendly/ communicative character education. Third, character education values that rarely emerge are the spirit of nationalism, love of peace, and love to read. Kata kunci: nilai, pendidikan karakter, cerpen, koran, Harian Singgalang

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang terkandung dalam cerpen “Batu Lumut Kapas” karya Gus tf Sakai. Nilai-nilai tersebut sebagaimana termuat dalam Buku Panduan Pendidikan Karakter yang dikeluarkan Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan Kemendiknas 2011. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, cerpen Batu Lumut Kapas mengandung nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter, seperti nilai: (1) relegius, (2) kejujuran, (3) kerja keras, (4) mandiri, (5) demokratis, (6) nasionalisme, (7) menghargai prestasi, (8) komunikatif, (9) cinta damai, (10) peduli sosial, dan (11) nilai tanggung jawab. Kesebelas nilai pendidikan karakter tersebut menyatu keberadaannya dalam teks cerpen. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa cerpen Gus tf Sakai yang berjudul “Batu Lumut Kapas” kaya akan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter di dalamnya. Gus tf Sakai telah bersumbangsih pemikirannya dalam memperbaiki krisis krakter yang sedang dialami masyarakat saat ini. Gus tf Sakai sangat peduli dan peka terhadap realitas yang ada di lingkungannya. Cerpen ini termasuk cerpen yang yang bermutu dan layak menjadi bacaan semua kalangan.Kata Kunci: Nilai, Pendidikan Karakter, Cerpen Abstract:This study aims to describe the values of character education contained in the short story "Batu Lumut Kapas" by Gus tf Sakai. These values as contained in the Character Education Handbook issued by the Ministry of National Education's 2011 Curriculum and Book Keeping Center. The results of the research obtained, the Batu Lumut Kapas short story contains character education values such as: (1) religious, (2 ) honesty, (3) hard work, (4) independent, (5) democratic, (6) nationalism, (7) respect for achievement, (8) commu-nicative, (9) peace-loving, (10) social care, and (11 ) value of responsibility. The nine values are integrated into the short story. Thus, it can be concluded that Gus tf Sakai's short story entitled "Batu Lumut Kapas" is rich in character education values inside it. Gus tf Sakai has contributed his thoughts in improving the character crisis that is currently being experienced by society. Gus tf Sakai is very caring and sensitive to the reality that exists in his environment. This short story includes short stories that are good of quality and deserve to be read by all groups.

The theme of illegitimacy Guy de Maupassant evolved in his works this article perceives as one of the factors of the author’s concept of a person and the plane of intersection of the most typical motifs of his short stories. The study of the author’s concept of a person through the prism of polivariability of the motif of a bastard is relevant in today’s revision of traditional values, transformation of the usual social institutions and search for identities, etc. The purpose of the study is to give a definition to the existence specifics of the bastard motif in the Maupassant’s short stories by using historical and literary, comparative, structural methods of analysis as dominant. To do this, I analyze the content, variability and the role of this motive in the formation of the Maupassant’s concept of a person, the author’s innovations in its interpretation from the point of view of literary diachrony. Maupassant interprets the bastard motif in the social, psychological and metaphorical-symbolic sense. For the short stories with the presentation of this motif, I suggest the typology based on the role of it in the structure of the work and the ideological and thematic content: the short stories with a motif-fragment, the ones with the bastard’s leitmotif and the group where the bastard motif becomes a central theme. The Maupassant’s interpretation of the bastard motif combines the general tendencies of its existence in the world’s literary tradition and individual reading. The latter is the result of the author’s understanding of the relevant for the era issues: the transformation of the family model, the interest in the theory of heredity, the strengthening of atheistic sentiments, the growth of frustration in the system of traditional social and moral values etc. This study sets the ground for a prospective analysis of the evolution the bastard motif in the short-story collections of different years or a comparative study of the motif in short stories and novels by Maupassant.

Abstrak Kritik sosial sebagai sebuah ide atau berbagai bentuk gagasan yang bertolak belakang dengan kenyataan yang tidak sesuai dengan tujuan dan harapan dari tatanan dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan membahas aspek sosial yang meliputi struktur cerita, masalah sosial dan kritik sosial bermuatan lokal Bali yang tercermin dalam kumpulan cerita pendek berbahasa Bali Nguntul Tanah Nulengék Langit karya I Made Suarsa. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan teknik interpretatif. Dalam pengolahan data dilakukan tahapan klasifikasi, pendeskripsian, penerjemahan, dan penganalisisan data. Untuk mengetahui masalah sosial dan kritik sosial dalam cerpen tersebut, digunakan teori sosiologi sastra dan teori struktural untuk mengetahui struktur formal yang membangun cerita tersebut. Hasil dan pembahasan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kritik sosial yang dapat terhimpun dalam cerita tersebut adalah kritik sosial terhadap kemiskinan, kritik sosial disorganisasi keluarga dan kritik terhadap adat dan tradisi serta serta kehidupan sosial masyarakat Bali. Dengan demikian, lahirnya cerpen karya I Made Suarsa ini memperlihatkan kemegahan pariwisata, masih terdapat ketimpangan sosial dalam masyarakat Bali. Kata kunci: cerpen, kritik sosial, masalah sosial, muatan lokal Bali Abstract Social criticism as an idea or various forms of ideas that are contrary to reality is not in accordance with the goals and expectations of the order in society. This study aims to discuss the social aspects which include story structure, social issues and social criticism with local Balinese content as re ected in a collection of short stories in Balinese language “Nguntul Tanah Nulengék Langit” by I Made Suarsa. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and note taking techniques. In data processing, the stages of classi cation, description, translation and data analysis are carried out. To nd out the social problems and social criticism in the short story, the sociology approach of Sapardi Djoko Damono’s view is used and is assisted by a structural approach to determine the formal structure that builds the story. The results of the study show that the social criticisms that can be collected in the story are social criticism of poverty, social criticism of family disorganization and criticism of customs and traditions as well as the social life of Balinese people who seem famous by tourism, but in fact there are still social inequalities in Balinese society. Tulisan ini membahas citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen yang dimuat di harian Radar Banten dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Budaya Banten melatarbelakangi para cerpenis dalam melukiskan perempuan Banten. Para penulis dapat memotret sebagian kehidupan para perempuan tersebut melalui tokoh-tokoh rekaan yang diciptakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji citra perempuan Banten melalui deskripsi para cerpenis dalam harian Radar Banten. Sumber data utama berasal dari empat belas cerpen yang dimuat tahun 2006—2010. Setelah analisis data melalui teori feminisme, diketahui bahwa citra perempuan Banten dalam cerpen tersebut adalah perempuan sebagai sosok pemimpin pemerintahan, penulis, perempuan berkekuatan magis, pemegang norma, pekerja keras, penyabar, penyayang, perempuan yang agamis, dan perempuan metropolis.Abstract:This paper discusses the image of Banten women in short stories published in Radar Banten. It  uses a qualitative descriptive method. Banten’s  cultural background depicts women in Banten. The writers of short story can capture some of the women’s real life through fiction’s characters. The purpose of this study is to examine the image of women through the description of the short story’s writers in Radar Banten. The main data sources were taken from fourteen short stories published in 2006—2010. Having analyzed the data using feminism theory, it is found out that the image of women in short stories of Radar Banten is the figure of woman as government leader, writer, woman with magical power, obedient norm woman, hardworking woman, patient and caring woman, religious woman, and  metropolitan woman.

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi: (1) nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang terdapat dalam petetah-petitih Sunan Gunung Jati; (2) pemanfaatan nilai pendidikan karakter dalam petatah-petitih Sunan Gunug Jati untuk menerbitkan dongeng dan fabel pembentuk karakter positif pada anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berupa kumpulan petatah-petitih Sunan Gunung Jati. Terdapat 43 nasihat yang tertulis dalam buku Kesusastraan Cirebon karya Untung Rhardjo. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan, peneliti menarik simpulan bahwa (1) semua petatah-petitih Sunan Gunung Jati yang berjumlah 43 memiliki nilai pendidikan karakter yaitu, religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, bersahabat/komunikatif, cinta damai, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, dan tanggung jawab. (2) Nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam petatah-petitih Sunan Gunung Jati dapat dijadikan sebagai materi dalam buku pengayaan berupa kumpulan fabel sebagai pembentuk karakter positif untuk memperkaya imajinasi dan mengembangkan literasi peserta didik.KATA KUNCI: nilai pendidikan karakter; petatah-petitih. EXPLORATION CHARACTER EDUCATION VALUE IN PETATAH-PETITIH SUNAN GUNUNG JATI ABSTRACT: This research aims to explore: (1) the values of character education contained in the petetahs of Sunan Gunung Jati; (2) utilization of the value of character education in the quotes of Sunan Gunug Jati to publish fairy tales and fables that form positive character in children. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with the data source in the form of a collection of Sunan Gunung Jati slabs. There are 43 pieces of advice written in the book Kesusastraan Cirebon by Untung Rhardjo. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, the researcher concludes that (1) all 43 pieces of Sunan Gunung Jati have character education values, namely, religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, spirit of nationality, love of the country, respect for achievement, friendly/ communicative, love peace, love to read, care for the environment, care for social, and responsibility. (2) The values of character education in the quotes of Sunan Gunung Jati can be used as material in an enrichment book in the form of a collection of fables as positive character builders to enrich the imagination and develop literacy of students.KEYWORDS: character education value; petatah-petitih.

Abstract— Literary work, directly or indirectly, is the realization and imagination of the author as a reflection and the reality that the author gets from society. Literary works can be found through the life forms of society. Thus, literary works cannot be separated from the elements around them. Literary work along its journey always implicate man, humanity, life, and life. In essence, literary works are born for the surrounding community. Literary works are the products of authors who live in the social world. That way, short story literary works in the form of fairy tales are the author's imaginative world that is always related to social life. There are interesting things that are given to our children to change attitudes and daily ethics. Keywords—: Literary works; short stories; fairy tales.

This study aims to express the trust and hegemony in the "Broker" short story by Sri Lima R.N. This research is motivated by the idea that language in fiction or short stories is meaningful and indicated not to be neutral.  The language in the short story, became the media for sending message content to the author as a reflection of the social community referred to. The approach used in this study is the sociology of literature, specific to the study of Gramsci hegemony. The research method used is descriptive qualitative.  Research data obtained from text, words, phrases, sentences, contained in short stories related to trust and hegemony. The research data is then described and expressed based on the approach used. The results of the study show that there was a change in the characteristics of Handoko's character as a broker who was initially good, become opportunist. Brokerage profession is used as a tool to hegemony the public to get profits. Community trust in brokers and people who are considered smart also grow. However, Handoko's figure was eventually protested by people who had used their services and failed. Handoko or brokers run away from the protests and demands of the people.

  This study analyzed social problems as reflected in the Preman, an anthology of short story by Tiwiek SA.  The social problems were encountered in the attitudes the characters of the stories occured.  The study used ontent analysis that use psycholinguistics as an analysis of a literary work.  Sources of the study was an anthology consisting of six short stories.  The study revealed that social conflict in the story reflected problems in social daily live where Javanese community normally faced. The problems include: thuggery, clashes, greedines, infidelity, prostitution, economy, and social inequality.  Themes of good and bad conducts also appeared as performed by the primary characters.

The study aims to determine the moral values and social values in a collection of short stories by Ahmad Tohari as learning material in class X SMAN 5 Pandeglang. The aim of this study to 1) Provide knowledge about the values contained in short story, 2) Growing motivation in reading short story literature, 3) Increasing interest in appreciating short stories, 4) Able to analyze the values contained in short story literature, 5) Instill the positive values of short stories in everyday life. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. Descriptive method is the method used to make broader conclusions. Research data collection techniques were carried out using literature studies or documentation studies on Ahmad Tohari’s short stories. The steps in this descriptive study are, 1) Identify significant problems that can be solved through the descriptive method, 2) Formulate the problem clearly, 3) Determine the purpose and benefits of research, 4) Conduct literature studies related to problems, and 5) Collect and analyze data qualitatively. The steps of data collection are reading Ahmad Tohari’s short stories carefully, recording the appropriate data, identifying and classifying data and making data education. The results of the study indicate that the collection of short stories by Ahmad Tohari contains many values, especially moral values and social values.

Abstrak Penelitian ini berupaya untuk menggambarkan pemakaian deiksis dalam teks terjemahan berbahasa Indonesia dari bahasa sumbernya, bahasa Arab. Deiksis dipahami sebagai bagian dari studi pragmatik, dengan begitu deiksis merupakan salah satu objek bidang kajian dari pragmatik. Masalah dalam penelitian ini: 1) bagaimanakah jenis-jenis deiksis; 2) bagaimanakan maksud dibalik penggunaan deiksis sosial pada kumpulan cerpen Al-Kabuus. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) untuk mendeskripsikan aneka jenis deiksis, 2) mendeskripsikan maksud penggunaan deiksis sosial pada kumpulan cerpen Al-Kabuus. Objek penelitian yang dikaji adalah jenis, maksud serta hubungan deiksis sosial dengan  yang terdapat pada cerpen Al-Kabuus. Subjek penelitiannya adalah cerpen karya Najib Kailani yang diterjemahkan oleh Zuriyati. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kata, frase, klausa, kalimat yang di dalamnya terdapat jenis dan maksud penggunaan deiksis sosial dalam cerpen Al-Kabuus. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari sumber data primer dan sumber data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 20 cerpen dari Al-Kabuus diperoleh 60 deiksis sosial, terdapat 5 deiksis sosial jenis gelar, 4 deiksis sosial jenis jabatan, 12 deiksis sosial jenis profesi, dan terdapat 36 deiksis sosial jenis julukan.---Abstract This study attempted to describe the use of deixis in Indonesian language translation text from the source language, Arabic. Deixis understood as part of a pragmatic study, so deixis is one of the object field of study of pragmatics. The problem in this research: 1) how the types of deixis; 2) how is the intention behind the use of social deixis on a collection of short stories Al-Kabuus. Goals to be achieved in this research are: 1) to describe the various types of deixis, 2) describe the intended use of social deixis on a collection of short stories Al-Kabuus. The object of research by reviewing the type, purpose and relationship with the social deixis contained in Al-Kabuus short stories. Subject of research is the short story by Najib Kailani translated by Zuriyati. The data in this study are words, phrases, clauses, sentences in which there are different types and the intended use of social deixis in short stories Al-Kabuus. Sources of data in this study consisted of primary data sources and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques in this study using documentation. The results of this study indicate that as many as 20 short stories from Al-Kabuus obtained 60 social deixis, social deixis there are 5 types of titles, positions four types of social deixis, social deixis 12 kinds of professions, and social deixis there are 36 kinds of nicknames.
