This study was conducted as an attempt to discover the effect of applying Demonstration Method on students’ achievement in speaking skill. It was an experimental research. The subject was students of Grade XII, Vocational High School (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan: SMK), which consisted of 79 students. The research was divided into two groups: experimental and control groups. The instrument used to collect the data was speaking test. To obtain the reliability of the test, the writer applied Kuder Richardson 21 formula. The result of the reliability was 0.7, and it was found that the test was reliable. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The analysis showed that the scores of the students in the experimental group were significantly higher than the scores of the students in the control group at the level of significant m = 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 77, t-observed value 8.9 > t-table value 1.99. The findings indicate that using Demonstration Method significantly affected the students’ achievement in speaking skill. So, English teachers are suggested to use Demonstration Method in order to improve students’ achievement in speaking skill.

Background: Type 2 diabetes needs a better understanding of etiological factors and management strategies based on lifestyle and constitutional factors, given its high association rate with many cardiovascular, neurological disorders, and COVID-19 infection. Purpose: The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of Diabetes-specific integrated Yoga lifestyle Protocol (DYP) on glycemic control and lipid profiles of diabetic adults. Along with the DYP intervention, the individuals residing in Chandigarh and Panchkula union territories in the northern part of India were assessed for Ayurveda-based body–mind constitutional type. Ayurveda describes body–mind constitution as “ prakriti,” which has been discussed from two angles, namely physiological and psychological as body and mind are correlated. Methods: Cluster sampling of waitlist control study subjects was used as the sampling method for the study. A total of 1,215 registered subjects (81 diabetic) responded in randomly selected clusters in Chandigarh and Panchkula. Ayurveda physicians did Ayurveda body–mind constitutional assessment called prakriti assessment (physiological body–mind constitution assessment) in 35 participants (23 diabetic, 12 prediabetic) as a part of the study. Results: A group of 50 subjects was randomly selected for yoga intervention out of 81 diabetes mellitus adults, and 31 subjects were enrolled as waitlist controls. A significant decrease in the glycosylated hemoglobin levels from 8.49 ± 1.94% to 7.97 ± 2.20% in the intervention group was noticed. The lipid profiles of the DYP intervention and control groups were monitored. Three-month follow-up results of lipid profile diagnostic tests in intervention and control groups showed a significant difference between the two groups ( P < 0.05). Most diabetic and prediabetic individuals were found to have pitta dosha ( pitta controls all heat, metabolism, and transformation in the mind and body) as dominant constitution type. Conclusion: The study results demonstrated significant positive effects of yoga in diabetic individuals. This study has indicated the evidence for the safety and efficacy of the validated DYP for community-level interventions to prevent maladies like brain damage and stroke.

Setting: The current study was conducted in operating room at Emergency Hospital of Menoufia University, Menoufia Governorate. Subjects: A purposive sample consists of 100 adult patients undergoing major abdominal surgery were randomly divided and assigned alternatively into two equal groups; 50 for each group. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection. Structured interview questionnaire: knowledge assessment sheet, perioperative assessment sheet, and shivering scale. Results: There was a highly significant difference between study and control groups regarding mean perioperative temperature at all times of interval of measurements p<0.001.Also there was a highly significant difference between study and control groups concerning postoperative shiveringP<0.001. Conclusions: Usage of perioperative warming measures for major abdominal surgery has a positive effect on the prevention of postoperative hypothermia and shivering. Recommendations: All staff of surgical nurses should be encouraged to be familial with perioperative warming measures and use these measures in order to maintain perioperative normothermia and prevent postoperative hypothermia.

ABSTRACTThis study was initiated by the students’ low learning outcomes on Chemistry subject and the teachers’ preference in using lecture method in teaching learning process. This study aimed at 1) finding out the differences of students’ learning outcomes between the use of flash media-assisted practical method and lecture method on hydrocarbon class at grade XI MIA of SMA Muhammadiyah I Pontianak. Using quasi experimental design and Control Group Posttes Design, this study employed the students of grade XI MIA 2 as the samples of experiment group, andthe students of grade XI MIA 2 as the samples of control group. The data collection techniques used were measurement and observation. While the instruments employed were observation sheet and essay. TheU-Mann Whitneytest revealed that the post test score of 0,0140< 0,05 Ho was rejected, while the Ha one was accepted. It means that there was correlation of students’ learning outcomes between the experiment and the control groups. In addition, the effect size result was 1,086 > 0,8 and considered high which indicated the positive effect of flash media-assisted practical method in enhancing students’ learning achievement. Keywords: flash, learning outcomes, hydrocarbon, practical method

Vocabulary is the basic aspect of language. The ability to master vocabulary holds an important part in learning a language, including English. That becomes one of the researcher's considerations to conduct this research when observing at one of Indonesia's high schools since the students show difficulties in vocabulary mastery. Modifying the teaching media can become a problem solving for students' lack of vocabulary mastery. In this case, using Rosetta Stone CALL software is suggested to overcome the problem. The research's objective was to determine whether or not the use of Rosetta Stone CALL software can improve the tenth-grade students' vocabulary mastery. The researcher applied a quasi-experimental method, with two group pre-test and post-test design. The research sample was forty students from two classes taken from the population of the 10th-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Barru. The data analysis result showed that the pre-test's mean score in the experimental class was 2.21, and the post-test was 3.04. It proves that the tenth-grade students' vocabulary mastery improved using Rosetta Stone CALL Software. After analyzing the data using SPSS version 21, the probability value in the post-test was 0.01, and the significance value was 0.05. It means that the probability value (0.01) was lower than the significance value (0.05). It was indicated that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It revealed that the vocabulary mastery of the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Barru for the experimental and control groups was significantly different.

The present paper is focused on Lyuben Georgiev’s innovative ideas concerning Bulgarian language teaching. The author’s new ideas presented in his work The Mother Tongue in Our Junior High Schools and High Schools (a Language Teaching Endeavour) (1933) have not been the subject of scientific research so far. L. Georgiev’s set of didactic ideas is important evidence for the overcoming of the Herbartian model and the orientation of language teaching towards the formation of communicative competencies. Emphasizing the creative nature of pedagogical interaction, Lyuben Georgiev offers a comprehensive system of ideas – a system that is in line with modern trends in language learning.

The therapeutic effectiveness of chlorpromazine, dibenamine, l-norepinephrine, 1-ethylsulfonyl-4-ethyl-piperazine hydrochloride, serotonin, ascorbic acid, human plasma cholinesterase and a bacterial polysaccharide (Piromen), has been studied in experimental tourniquet and burn shock in mice. Employing survival as an indication of therapeutic effect, simultaneous comparisons were made of the survival of groups of animals receiving these agents in saline and control groups receiving saline alone. Chlorpromazine pretreatment (8–20 mg/kg) produced reproducible positive effects on survival whether given alone or in conjunction with saline replacement therapy. Dibenamine pretreatment (5–25 mg/kg) produced positive effects on survival but this response was not always reproducible. No beneficial effect was demonstrable following administration of the remainder of these agents when compared to control groups given saline alone.
