What is Confucianism? What are its teachings? What is its culture? How did it grow in Indonesia? What is Confucianism like in West Kalimantan? The book, Agama Konghucu (Confucianism) written by Samsul Hidayat, was written to answer those questions. The author of this book, a lecturer at the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) of Pontianak, has long been doing a study on Confucianism in his capacity as an expert in the field of comparative religion.

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan karena proses pembelajaran di laboratorium Biologi IAIN STS Jambi yang masih minim sarana prasarana yang ada di laboratorium, sehingga menghambat proses pembelajaran khususnya untuk mata kuliah Morfologi Tumbuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan buku ajar praktikum dan mengetahui praktikalitasnya. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan 4-D Models yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate. Karena adanya keterbatasan waktu dan biaya maka tahap disseminate tidak dilakukan. Produk yang dikembangkan berupa buku ajar praktikum yang divalidasi oleh validator. Produk yang telah divalidasi dan dinyatakan valid oleh validator, kemudian diujicobakan pada proses pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk melihat nilai praktis buku ajar praktikum di laboratorium Biologi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah data deskriptif untuk memvalidasi perangkat pembelajaran oleh pakar pendidikan. Selain itu juga diteliti data praktikalitas penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran ini yang diperoleh dari observasi dosen dan respon siswa. Nilai validitas produk 83,31% yang dikategorikan valid. Sementara nilai kepraktisan berdasarkan data observasi keterlaksanaan SAP, angket respon dosen dan siswa dikategorikan sangat baik atau sangat praktis. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran di Laboratorium Biologi yang dikembangkan adalah valid dan sangat praktis digunakan baik dosen maupun siswa. Kata Kunci : Pengembangan, buku ajar praktikum, laboratorium biologi Abstract [The development of a course book for plant morphology at biology laboratory] This research was triggered by the limited facilities of the biology laboratory at the State Institute of Islamic Studies Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi which became a constrain in the teaching and learning process of Plant Morphology classroom sessions. The objective of this research was to develop a course book as well as to reveal its practicality. The researcher did a research and development using 4-D Models consisting of four stages namely; define, design, develop, and disseminate. Considering the limitation of time and finance, the disseminate stage was not executed. The test revealed the validity score of the product was 83,31% which categorized as good. For its practicality, the product was considered as very good based on observation of lesson plan execution and lecturers’ and students’ response. In summary, the course book developed for the course at Biology Laboratory was categorized as valid and practical to be used by both students and lecturers. The differences  of  views  about Islam is single or  plural impact on the debate on the use of terminology of Indonesia Islamic education. This  debate on terminology actually arose among the Muslims who have more understanding about the conception of Islamic education. Therefore, this  study aims to explore the attitudes of the academic community of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Science Teachers (FTIK) of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Salatiga against the use of Islamic education terminology in Indonesia, so as to know the views of  respondents about Islam is single or plural. This research  uses quantitative descriptive research type. The population of this study are students of the third semester and the fifth semester at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN)  at Tarbiyah and Science Teachers (FTIK) Salatiga as many as 1763 respondents. Researcher took  355 samples of  respondents  with cluster random sampling technique. Data collection use questioner method. Data were  analyzed with descriptive  statistics. The data that has been collected then followed the stages of description, reduction, selection, discussion, analysis and conclusions. This research concluded that the majority of the academic community of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Salatiga were disagree  with the terminology of Islamic education of Indonesia. They are more amenable to use the term Islamic education in Indonesia. This shows that the academic  community of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Science Teachers (FTIK)  of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Salatiga views   that   Islam as   single rather   than plural. The study   also found  that  respondents who have more  understanding about the conception of Islamic education  who  reject the terminology   of  Islamic education in Indonesia  are greater  than   those   who   have less understanding of     the   conception   of  Islamic    education. Therefore, it   is   suspected  that   there is  a   negative   correlation  between  the   level   of   understanding of the concept of Islamic education with plurality attitude.

The historicity of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Pontianak actually brings us to an understanding that in fact IAIN Pontianak has so far taken part in preparing alumni who are skilled and competent in the field of Islamic religious sciences, such as Islamic education, Islamic law, and Islamic dakwa. This also signifies the responsibility of IAIN Pontianak in shaping the ‘considerate and tolerant understanding of religion’ and minimizing forms of religious radicalism on campus. This will be discussed further in this paper.

In general, people of West Kalimantan have slight understanding relating to the existence of Baha’i religion. They built some stereotypes and judgments based on interaction and daily communication with Baha’i followers. This research focuses on how the under-graduate student of State Institute of Islamic studies (IAIN) Pontianak perceive and understand Baha’i during the class of Interreligious Communication (Komunikasi Lintas Agama). Dealing with the under-graduate student of the seventh semester, this research aims to analyze such paradigm construction through Thung Ju Lan idea of “foreigners” and “cultural differences”. This research found that students have constructed their perception on Baha’i through theological denial or cultural assessment of other religious tradition. [Secara umum penduduk Kallimantan Barat memiliki pemahaman yang tidak mendalam terkait dengan agama Baha’i. Mereka membangun prasangka, stereotip, dan keyakinan sendiri tentang Baha’i, berdasar pada interksi dan komunikasi sehari-sehari dengan pemeluk Baha’i. Penelitian ini fokus pada bagaimana mahasiswa Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Pontianak membangun pandangan dan pemahaman mereka terhadap Baha’i dalam kelas matakuliah Komunikasi Lintas Agama. Meneliti para mahasiswa yang duduk di semester ke-7, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagunan kerangka berpikir tersebut melalui konsepnya Thung Ju Lan, foreigners and cultural differences. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa sebagian mahasiswa membangun persepsi teologis terkait agama Baha’i sebagai “sesuatu yang semestinya ditolak” dan “tidak sesuai dengan agama Islam.]

This research was motivated by preliminary research findings which show the level of academic procrastination among the students of Islamic Religious Education Department (PAI) of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK) of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Pontianak at 71.88% which is in the high category, even at 8.75% which is in the very high class and the findings of several studies which stated that SFBC effectively overcomes various psychological problems . The research aims to prove the effectiveness of the Treatment Model of Academic Procrastination based on FSBC to reduce the behavior of academic procrastination among students who are writing their undergraduate thesis. In practice, this research used the Research and Development (R&D) approach and the model effectiveness testing, which was is conducted with One Group Pretest-Posttest Experimental Design. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using percentages and t-test. The results showed that the outcomes of the pretest-posttest average score decreased by 36.533 (from 231.666 to 195.133). Furthermore, the SFBC Model t-test showed a significance value of 0.00 (less than the alpha value of 0.05). Thus, the SFBC is sufficient to reduce the behavior of academic procrastination among the students of the Department of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Pontianak.

This article aims at investigating the perceptions of undergraduate students from theIslamic Broadcasting Communication Department at the State Institute of Islamic Studies(IAIN) Kudus to the use of video in enhancing their speaking proficiency in broadcasting.This study belongs to a qualitative research. In order to gather data, the writer administereda 15- item questionnaire to the students. Further, an in-depth interview was conductedto get detail information related the perceptions of using video in speaking English andneeded strategies to encourage their career development in broadcasting. The findingsreveal that the majority of students in Islamic Broadcasting Communication Departmentat the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Kudus agree that video facilitates them inbroadcasting using English. It can be shown by their positive attitudes towards using videoand high percentages of the perceptions that video can motivate them to speak English,video encourages them to be confident when speaking English, and video can enhancetheir appearance or performance when broadcasting using English. Besides, it is neededthe role of lecturers to design the English speaking skills that are integrated into the coursematerials using technology in millennial era.

This article aims to describe the paradigm and scientific philosophy of State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol Padang that has just been transformed from State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) into State Islamic University (UIN). Hence, a qualitative method is used to gather data by using documentation and interview. In addition, a focus group discussion was employed to get valid information. The result of the study indicates that the  State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol adopts an interaction-dialogue paradigm. This offers every discipline to collaborate and produce integrated sciences by positioning Islam, cultures, and science as the sources of knowledge equally. Then, these three sources act together as the basis of knowledge to create benefits for humanity.

This article discusses the management of the improvement of lecturers' professionalism in Banten. There are some important research questions studied in thi  article:  (1)  what  are  the  aspects  in   manag ement   of  the  improvement  of lecturers' professionalism in Banten?; (2) How is the implementation of the improvement of lecturers' professionalism in Banten?; (3) What are the problems and weaknesess faced by the management of the improvement of ledurers'professionalism in Banten?; and (4) What are the steps that will be done by the management university in improving the lecturers' professionalism in Banten in the future? This research uses qualitative method. The descriptive study is used in analyzing the data. The data of this research are obtained from lecturers and university bureaucrats in The State Institute for Islamic Studies of IAIN ''SMH" Banten,  Islamic Universityof Syekh  Yusuf  Tangerang,  and University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa Banten. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of instructional strategies and thinking style on reasoning ability. The study was conducted at the State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, with of method 2x2 factorial design. This study finds that (1) reasoning ability of the students who use metacognition strategy is higher that of those who use conventional strategy, (2) reasoning ability of the students with divergent thinking style who use metacognition strategy is higher than those who use conventional strategy, (3) reasoning ability of the students with convergent thinking style who use metacognition strategy is lower than that of those who use conventional strategy, and (4) there is an interaction between instructional strategies and thinking style that effects students’ reasoning ability. The study concludes that instructional strategies of metacognition effects the reasoning ability in learning, particularly for students who have divergent thinking style.
