The aim of the study was to determine daily changes in some egg quality parameters, indirectly reflecting egg freshness, and to assess the possibility of predicting time from laying using mathematical methods. The study material consisted of 365 table eggs of medium (M, ≥53 g and <63 g) and large (L, ≥63 g and <73 g) weight classes (commercial stock, cage system, brown-shelled eggs) collected on the same day. Eggs were numbered individually and placed on transport trays and stored (14 °C, 70% RH). Every day, for 35 days, egg quality characteristics were analyzed (10 eggs per group). The change of traits in time was analyzed on the basis of linear and polynomial regression equations, depending on the trait. Based on model fitting, eight traits were selected as those most affected by storage time: egg weight and specific weight, Haugh units, albumen weight, air cell depth, yolk index, albumen and yolk pH. These traits, excluding those related to the weight, were then used in a multiple linear regression model to predict egg age. All regression models presented in this study were characterized by high predictive efficiency, which was confirmed by comparison of the observed and estimated values.

The pharmacological activity of peppermint leaf (Menthae piperitae folium) for medical use is mainly attributed to the presence of essential oil, which, according to the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), should constitute not less than 12 mL/kg of raw material. The content of polyphenols in peppermint-based preparations, except peppermint leaf dry extract, has not yet been considered as an essential parameter in the pharmacopeial assessment of peppermint quality. This study concerns the evaluation of the presence of representatives of polyphenolic compounds in 23 commercial peppermint tinctures (ethanolic extracts) purchased in pharmacies in Poland. The non-volatile polyphenolic fraction was investigated, and the presence of flavonoids and phenolic acids was quantified. High performance liquid chromatography coupled with a diode-array detector (HPLC-DAD) and an electrospray ionization mass spectrometer (U(H)PLC-ESI-MS) were used in the experiment. The study showed that eriocitrin, luteolin-7-O-rutinoside, and rosmarinic acid were the main polyphenolic components of the peppermint tinctures, as previously reported for peppermint leaf. Despite this, the research shows the extremely diverse content of the mentioned compounds in analyzed commercial medicinal products. In light of these results, it seems that the pharmacopeial assessment for the peppermint leaf (Ph. Eur.) and peppermint tincture (Polish Pharmacopoeia (FP)) requires correction and supplementation.

The processing of feed by extrusion improves the level of absorption by animals. In the extruder, due to frictional forces, the grain mass is heated to a temperature of 120 ... 150 ° C and acquires thermoplastic properties. Due to the transition of the heated mass from the high-pressure zone to the atmospheric zone, adiabatic expansion occurs, as a result of which the volume of the extrudate increases due to the destruction of the granular structure of starch at the cellular level. The extrudate acquires a microporous structure, which contributes to a more complete absorption of nutrients by the animal body. The purpose of the work is to determine the rational values of the factors that most significantly influence the extrusion process and to evaluate the degree of their influence on the extrusion index of the grain mixture of cereals. The studies were performed using a sample of the model extruder section structure, the coils of the screw extruder can oscillate along its axis. A blend of corn, barley and winter wheat in a 5: 3: 2 ratio was used as the study object. The effect of the extruder parameters and modes on the extrudate expansion index was studied using the multivariate experiment planning method. The extrudate expansion index was defined as the ratio of the extrudate diameter to the diameter of the die. To study the process, the following factors were selected that most significantly influence the extrusion process and the extrudate expansion index: die diameter X1 (d, mm), relative humidity of the grain mixture X2 (W,%) and temperature of the extrusion process X3 (T, 0C). The levels of variation of the factors were as follows (initially recorded the zero level of factors, and after the interval of variation): X1 (6; 2 mm), X2 (16; 4%) and X3 (135; 25 0C). As a result of the conducted researches the following rational parameters and modes of operation of the extruder were established: diameter of die d = 4.9… 5.9 mm; humidity of grain mixture W = 17,7… 20%; the temperature of the extrusion process T = 140… 145 0C, and a die diameter of 4.9 ... 5, 9mm.

Targeted reforestation refers to ecosystems with natural and artificial energy reserves. Additional energy reserves are spent on grow-ing and harvesting, various types of forest care, forest use, and delivery of products to consumers, including energy costs for all types of preparation. The wood to be harvested must be assessed on the energy consumption required for its production. The purpose of this work was to develop a comprehensive methodology to assess the energy effect, model the process of plantation operation considering the soil type, tree species, and technical parameters of operating machines. According to the estimation results of the trunk wood energy value, it has been established that depending on the growth rate and maturity level, the target plantations are divided into two types, which should be taken into account during planting and subsequent rotation. It is shown that with regard to the technological features of machine sys-tems and the type of plantation, it is necessary to consider dimensional characteristics of the planting scheme and the technological cycle of exploiting the forest plantation. The results of mathematical modeling following the technological parameters of operating machines and all types of costs showed that the cost of the selected target species for reforestation can provide sufficient profit when optimizing the machine system operations. The principle of modular division of machines system on power, technological, and transport modules is offered, which vary in purpose, criteria of parameters optimization, and indicators of work. The obtained mathematical model and meth-odology of target planting optimization can be applied in forestry and agricultural complexes, as well as become the basis for further research in this direction.

Paddle mixers with horizontal shafts are common at building materials enterprises for the preparation of concretes, mortars, dry mortars. A new design of a horizontal paddle mixer with rod elements located in front of the working surfaces of the blades, changing the trajectories of material particles, increasing their mobility, which leads to an increase in the degree of homogeneity of the mixed material, is considered. The aim of the study was to assess the influence of rod elements on the quality of preparation of a cement-sand mixture, to establish patterns of influence on it by the design and technological parameters of a two-shaft paddle mixer and to determine the areas of their rational values. The following tasks have been solved. A bench installation of a two-shaft horizontal paddle mixer with rod elements has been developed, on which experimental studies have been carried out on the preparation of dry cement-sand mixtures. For the criterion characterizing the quality of the mixture, the ultimate compressive strength of the prism specimens made from it is adopted. Regression equations are obtained that adequately describe the compressive strength of prism samples from the design and technological parameters of the mixer: the angle of the blades, the distance from the working surfaces of the blades to the rod elements, the rotational speed of the blade shafts, and their analysis is performed. The analysis of the change in the ultimate compressive strength of the prism specimens from the parameters under study is carried out, the rational ranges of their values are determined. It was found that a mixer with rod elements allows to obtain a dry cement-sand mixture, products from which have a higher compressive strength. During the work, the method of mathematical planning of experiments was used. As a result of the study, an assessment of the influence of rod elements on the quality of preparation of a cement-sand mixture was carried out, the regularities of the influence on it of the design and technological parameters of a two-shaft paddle mixer and the area of their rational values were established.

We propose a new approach for railway path diagnostics on the basis of track line stress–strain analysis using the data provided by high-precision accelerometers. This type of sensor provides sufficient accuracy with lower costs, and enables the development of a railway digital twin, according to the concept of the Internet of Things. The installation of sensors on a railway track along its entire length allows real-time monitoring of the states of the technical parameters of the railway track, and using mathematical methods to evaluate its wear on the basis of constantly received data. This paper presents an original 3D model of a railway track line and the results of its analysis using a finite element method. To test the model, we performed an analysis of the normal stresses and deformations in the elements of a railway track by simulating the impact of rolling stock on a section of a railway track with intermediate rail fastenings, ZhBR-65SH. The research results were probated and tested at the testing ground of the Kuibyshev branch of Russian Railways, the Samara track. The proposed approach makes it possible to determine the load of the track, and knowing the movement of the rail, to calculate the structural stress in the elements of the railway track, to constantly monitor the parameters of the slope and rail subsidence.

A study of labour productivity was conducted in fully mechanised harvesting technologies. The study revealed that the productivity of harvesters was particularly affected by the average tree volume of the felled trees, and the productivity of forwarders was affected mainly by two factors – haulage distance and machine payload. Dependences of other factors such as natural and site conditions, technical parameters and skills of operators could not be demonstrated. Regression equations of dependences were created for all these three significant criteria and costs per cubic meter of processed timber were calculated for them according to the cost function. A regression function was then developed for the forwarder that takes into account both significant criteria influencing the forwarder productivity.
