AbstractThe main goal of the article is to describe the development and production of a prototype of an additional system for wheel motor bearing protection using additive technologies. These technologies include rapid prototyping and vacuum casting. These technologies greatly facilitate and speed up the whole process of developing a new component. Before the development itself, it was necessary to digitize the wheel hub using reverse engineering technology. Using a 3D scanner, a part model was created, based on which an additional system for wheel bearing protection was designed for the CAD system. The dimensional analysis of the produced prototypes was performed. Prototypes of the protection system made of different materials will be tested in common operation conditions.

This paper discusses the issues of integrating the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programs in commercial software. Integration was achieved through implementation of a computer-aided process planning (CAPP) system within the commercial software. The part model was imported into, or designed in, the commercial CAD system. Manufacturing information was then extracted from the part model by the CAPP system using commercial Application Programming Interfacing (API) methods. The CAPP system then uses the extracted information to produce a process plan consistent with the requirements of the commercial CAM module to produce Numerical Control (NC) code. The internal integration was accomplished using commercial API methods that dynamically bind the CAD, CAPP, and CAM into a single continuous application. These APIs are implemented using the Orbix middleware following the CORBA standard. A case study demonstrating the integration is presented. Strengths and weaknesses of integrating the CAD and CAM domains using APIs and middleware are discussed.

The heat treatment technology is a weak link in engineering technology in china. For the traditional microwave heat treatment system, the microwave electric field inside the oven can not be well-distributed. In case of the traditional oven heat treatment system, however, the materials dried process is very long. In this paper, we introduce a microwave-oven hybrid heat treatment system related to industrial production line, the proposed with both advantages of high efficiency of microwave and good thermal distribution of the oven, which can be applied for the determination of degree in heat treatment process according to the concentration of the produced gases. Based on the computer and LabVIEW, the control system can control the whole process of heat treatment directly and accurately in real-time.

In this paper, we present a solution-based cooperation approach for strengthening the image segmentation. This paper proposes a cooperative method relying on Multi-Agent System. The main contribution of this work is to highlight the importance of cooperation between the contour and region growing based on Multi-Agent System (MAS). Consequently, agents’ interactions form the main part of the whole process for image segmentation. Similar works were proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution. The main difference is that our Multi-Agent System can perform the segmentation process ensuring efficiency. Our results show that the performance indices in the system were higher. Furthermore, the integration of the cooperation paradigm allows to speed up the segmentation process. Besides, the tests reveal the robustness of our method by proving competitive results. Our proposal achieved an accuracy of 93,51%± 0,8, a sensitivity of 93,53%± 5,08 and a specificity rate of 92,64%± 4,01.

This chapter outlines the important of e-business in today‘s world and how one thinks it affects decision making. In today‘s world e-business is extremely important for many reasons, some of which are due to the fact that it can speed up the whole process of ordering. This means that the lead time can be decreased because the ordering of products can be done much more quickly because the Internet is a fast running wide area network. This chapter shows how better procurement and supply chains make sales teams more effective. The ability to outsource functions such as, accounting, remote access to systems, linking management teams in different locations, being able to locate the lowest cost supplier improve customer services, improved collection of customer information for databases and more effective management of remote manufacturing sites.

Defining the collision-free C-space is crucial in robotics to find whether a robot can successfully perform a motion. However, the complexity of defining this space increases according to the robot’s degree of freedom and the number of obstacles. Heuristics techniques, such as Monte Carlo’s simulation, help developers address this problem and speed up the whole process. Many well-known motion planning algorithms, such as RRT, base their popularity on their ability to find sufficiently good representations of the collision-free C-space very quickly by exploiting heuristics methods, but this mathematical relationship is not highlighted in most textbooks and publications. Each book focuses the attention of the reader on C-space at the beginning, but this concept is left behind page after page. Moreover, even though heuristics methods are widely used to boost algorithms, they are never formalized as part of the Optimization techniques subject. The major goal of this chapter is to highlight the mathematical and intuitive relationship between C-space, heuristic methods, and sampling based planner.

Relevance Biotechnological methods are generally used to speed up breeding programs and to enhance genetic diversity, so the culture of isolated microspore in vitro can be regarded as one of very suitable methods. Nontraditional and uncommon vegetable crops belonging to Brassicaceae Burnett. are becoming more popular. Methods Accessions of sarepta mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern.) and rocket salad (Eruca sativa Mill.) were taken for the study with the aim to optimize the basic protocol for these species. Results As a result of the study the optimum cultivation conditions have been determined for the species. Sizes of buds 2.5-3.5 mm long for sarepta mustard and 7.0-7.5 long for rocket salad which were used for cultivation had been experimentally defined. It was also shown that the cold pretreatment had improved the embryo yield. The nutritional NLN-13 medium with pH 6.1 and pretreatment at 32°C during a cultivation day had been shown to be more favourable for all accessions. All conditions that had been used were suitable for embryo formation. First divisions had been seen after 4 days of cultivation, while the embryos at primary cotyledonary stage only appeared after 2 weeks of cultivation. The embryo yield per 5 buds reached 25-30 and 5-7 in the sarepta mustard and the rocket salad, respectively. It is worth noticing that the root formation and plant adaptation had passed better and faster in sarepta mustard than in rocket salad. Thus, whole process of homozygous line developing can be completed for 4-5 months, making the breeding program 3 times shorter.

Abstract The several loops characterizing the design process used to slow down the development of new projects. Since the 70s, the design process has changed due to the new technologies and tools related to Computer-Aided Design software and Virtual Reality applications that make almost the whole process digital. However, the concept phase of the design process is still based on traditional approaches, while digital tools are poor exploited. In this phase, designers need tools that allow them to rapidly save and freeze their ideas, such as sketching on paper, which is not integrated in the digital-based process. The paper presents a new gestural interface to give designers more support by introducing an effective device for 3D modelling to improve and speed up the conceptual design process. We designed a set of gestures to allow people from different background to 3D model their ideas in a natural way. A testing session with 17 participants allowed us to verify if the proposed interaction was intuitive or not. At the end of the tests, all participants succeeded in the 3D modelling of a simple shape (a column) by only using air gestures in a relatively short amount of time exactly how they expected it to be built, confirming the proposed interaction.
