Citizenship and social education education plays a role in the development and development of character in the younger generation, if the contribution given by citizenship and social studies education is successful in directing the young generation today to contribute to the national character. Therefore, it is very necessary to have an understanding of the character of the nation itself and provide a way for the development of the nation's character. the development of superior national character has existed since the republic was proclaimed on August 17, 1945. Our first national leader, Bung Karno, had stated the need for nation and character buildings. Although the statement is in a political context, it explicitly implies that Indonesia's development is not enough just to develop physically but must include building the character and culture of the nation. Some national figures of this nation such as Ki Hadjar Dewantoro also mentioned the need for character building as an integral part of national development. One effort that can realize these characters is using or injecting an educational institution that is very close to each of the nation's next generation. A media needs to be implemented namely through a course and citizenship education and social studies subjects

<p>Globalization always lead to various kinds of influences, both negative nor positive, on the national character. In Indonesia, globalization has caused a significant degradation of national character which ended by the poor national character of the Indonesia’s young generation. In order to minimalize this impact, the Indonesian government has launched a program, named State Defense Awareness Programme (<em>Program Pembinaan Kesadaran Bela Negara</em>), in order to perform the mental revolution program and building the national character of Indonesia’s young generation, which has influenced by the negative effect of globalization. But until now, the Indonesian citizens are still not convinced that State Defense Awareness Programme can be an appropriate means in building the national character of Indonesian citizens. This condition was supported by the emergence of negative stigma related to State Defense Awareness Programme, which ultimately reduces the level of people participation in the program. This article was written by using a systematic approach and contribution analysis method. The results of this study are expected to be a consideration for the Indonesian government and citizens in implementing and joining this program. Based on the analysis result, it can be concluded that State Defense Awareness Programme has a significant contribution towards national character building of Indonesia’s young generation. A comprehensive and integrated implementation of this program will produce citizens or state defense cadres who has highly character of nationalism, patriotism, solidarity, skill, collaboration, discipline, leadership and so on, especially for Indonesians who are born and grow up on border areas or foreign country and have experienced a significant shift of state defense awareness. This program will also produce resilient, militant, and nationally awareness citizens based on the State Defense, Pancasila values and the 1945 Constitution norms.</p>

The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the values of Pancasila as a national character development strategy in the era of globalization, whether they have been implemented properly or not. The research method that I use in this research uses non-interactive qualitative methods. The results of this study indicate that character building has been carried out by all means, but until now it has not been implemented optimally. This can be seen from the large economic, political and social disparities, unjust rule of law, corruption, collusion and nepotism that spread to all sectors. Seeing the dire situation and condition of the nation's character, our government took the initiative to prioritize the character building of the Indonesian nation. This can be seen from the national development mission itself which consists of eight missions and character education is the first mission in realizing the vision of national development.

The young generation is an essential element in a state life. The role of youth, as contained in Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 40 Year 2009 on Youth that says "youths play an active role as a moral force, social control, and agents of change in all aspects of national development". However, the reality of the situation is that there has been a moral degradation and the decreasing of cross-cultural leadership character in the younger generation. Political education as what Ansor PW GP of West Java implemented is one of many attempts to form a cross-cultural leadership character in young generation in order to create Pancasila political culture. Keywords: political education, cross-cultural leadership, Pancasila political culture, Ansor PW GP of West Java.

The social situation of young people and existing problems in this field in the context of post-conflict society, their perceptions of the development of economic and political processes and statehood in the “unrecognized republic” are analysed. The attitude and, thus, the influence of young people on the construction of the identification and value bases of South Ossetian society after the 2008 armed conflict and recognition of the independence of the Republic by Russia and a number of other States of the world are shown. The work analyses the possible projects of national development of South Ossetia and the perception of youth of the process of their formation: the construction of an independent state, the development of integration processes, associated relations with Russia and reintegration policy with Georgia, as well as the implementation of the European Union program “Involvement without recognition” in the territory of South Ossetia. Subject. After the collapse of the USSR, smaller countries chose different paths in their economic policy during the globalization and the multipolar world. The EU, USA and Russia made a palpable contribution to the economic policy of smaller countries. Some countries of the former USSR failed to find their course, while the others immediately followed their development strategy and stuck to it persistently. Objectives. I examine the economics of the monodirectional strategy of smaller countries of the former USSR. I also evaluate how the countries found their position among different leading countries as points of attraction. The study is based on the assumption that the single direction of the national development and adherence to the same point of attraction will ensure the sustainable development. However, the economic development level depends on the health of a certain economy as a point of attraction. Methods. The study is based on the systems approach, comparative and statistical methods for analyzing macroeconomic data series. Results. I investigated the dynamics of key macroeconomic data in the Republic of Belarus, Latvia and Estonia, such as GDP per capita in current values, unemployment rate and Purchasing Power Index. Given the current phase of globalization and multipolar world, it is crucial for smaller countries to choose a development strategy to follow persistently and achieve proper macroeconomic indicators that depend on the economic stability of counties they treat as their benchmarks. Conclusions and Relevance. I should mention the successful economic policy of Estonia and Latvia, which followed the same course as the other EU countries, as opposed to the Republic of Belarus tending to the policy of the Russian Federation. Nevertheless, the monodirectional development strategy also helps smaller countries ensure their economic stability.

Subject. To achieve a high level of economic security is a key priority of national development. Employment reveals one of the most important aspects of social development of the individual that is associated with his or her needs satisfaction in the sphere of employment and is boon to economic security. Objectives. The purpose of the study is to show the impact of unemployment on economic security in employment. Methods. I apply such scientific methods as dialectical, historical and logical unity, structural and functional analysis, traditional techniques of economic analysis and synthesis. The methods of multivariate statistical and comparative analysis serve as a methodological basis of the study. To determine the indicator of unemployment, I use the band theory. Results. I underpin the growing role of employment in ensuring economic security. The paper presents a comprehensive assessment of the unemployment status and a comparative analysis of the indicator in the Republic of Mordovia, the Volga Federal District, and the Russian Federation as a whole. I identify trends in the average duration of unemployment, show the distribution of unemployed by level of education and age groups. Conclusions. The average annual unemployment rate in the Republic of Mordovia is lower than in Russia and the Volga Federal District. The findings may be useful for public authorities to substantiate their employment policy at both macro- and meso-levels, for designing programs and strategies for socio-economic development of regions and the social security doctrine, as well as in practical activities of employment services.
