Today, the world of design has been grown and developed, even though there are many questions still leaves need to discuss. One of the most fundamental questions in design research is an understanding of the meaning of design itself. The emergence of such question, in particular, what is design, based on an understanding that many students or people translete design into the styling process only, and did not understand that design process has begun when people start to think to overcome limitations and meet the needs. The problem of understanding design has been answered through a design process which based on material approach, so it is found that the design activity has involved thinking from the beginning until embodiment. In the design process which based on material approach, discovering and adressed a material property into a product is the most important thing has to be sought. The conditions is the same thing to find DNA and the identity of a product, so that it can bring up the purposes (utilitarian), and aesthetic (decorative) aspects. The methods used for answering a problem are qualitative research with emic persepective and material-based design research, so that through those methods, there is a better understanding of meaning for design by Indonesian people and has been known as rekayasa. Through this paradigmshift, design is more easily to understand and taught as well, as it is very close to reality.

Abstract Based on an analysis of the product development process and the study of relevant product development models, the paper presents a new approach aiming at modeling and supporting the design activity as the substantial activity within the product development process. The Autogenetic Design Theory is an approach advancing general design theories. It facilitates the integration of intuition, creativity and artificial intelligence into the conventional design process. To this end, a phase-like allocation of the design process is assumed as the essential structure and an evolutionary algorithm is integrated as the core facilitating purposeful searching and combining. Hence, the flow of the design process can be influenced as all requirements can be included and, on the other hand, intuition and creativity are ensured through the evolutionary algorithm.

The main concern of maqoshid shariah is to creating the benefit of the people or creating the benefit for all off the creatures . This concept is very appropriate in the world of accounting, because modern accounting is full of materialistic matters, which will create capitalistic life. capitalism causes the stronger party to get stronger, and the smaller parties suffer even more. Capitalistm is inhuman, because it can lead to exploitation either from human to other human beings, or the state to other countries. So, modern accounting must be changed, starting from the definition. Definition is an important thing, because of this definition will form the mindset to the practice. The writer uses qualitative research and uses a postmodern paradigm approach in the point of view of maqoshid shariah. Maqoshid syariah consists of three categories among them are like dharuriyyat, hajiyyat, and tahsiniyyat. The purpose of this research is to make a new definition of accounting based on maqoshid shariah. The results of this research is new accounting definition based on maqoshid syariah. The definition off accounting based on maqoshid syariah is a science that have to provide information to stakeholders and shareholders about the operational and the condition of the company both quantitatively and qualitatively without any engineering conditions in order to help create a harmonious life in all lining. Keywords: definiton, accounting, capitalism, maqoshid shariah and harmonious life

Editorial Summary With a focus on experiential qualities Maria da Piedade Ferreira distinguishes her research object from classical (rather technical) quantities such as load-bearing capacities. In her text she illustrates how she employs methods, techniques, and instruments from performance art and neurosciences to investigate the effects of spatial conditions on the human body. In doing so, she explores a mix of qualitative and quantitative approaches, namely by experimenting with emotion measurement: Qualitative research, by including methodologies which attribute measurable values to the felt experience, might help us better understand the effects of the built environment in the human body during the design process itself, and after building. Accordingly, her aim is to integrate art and science methodologies that allow us to design spaces as intelligent extensions of the human body and positively impact how this feels and acts in the world. AbstractHackathons are short design events at which participants collaboratively progress through the entire design process. They pose opportunities for design research, but the existing research is limited, as is the understanding of design activity at hackathons. In our study, we summarize the hackathon design process of 10 interview participants from varying disciplines, levels of experience, and hackathon events. The summarized account reveals a decreased emphasis on the beginning phases of the design process, mainly problem definition, but an increased emphasis on the end, specifically the pitch portion of the event. These differences are mainly due to the limited time frame. We further assess the effect of time limitations at hackathons by comparing hackathons to other instances of design, emphasizing the impact of time constraints on iteration. We conclude our discussion with an exploration of the role expertise has on the design process by comparing the accounts of designers and developers.

An accurate understanding of users' needs is essential for the development of innovative products. This article presents an exploratory method of user centered research in the context of the design process of technological products, conceived from the demands of a large information technology company. The method is oriented - but not restricted - to the initial stages of the product development process, and uses low-resolution prototypes and simulations of interactions, allowing users to imagine themselves in a future context through fictitious environments and scenarios in the ambit of ideation. The method is effective in identifying the requirements of the experience related to the product’s usage and allows rapid iteration on existing assumptions and greater exploration of design concepts that emerge throughout the investigation.

This paper addresses the fields of social and service design in development contexts, practice-based and constructive design research. A framework for social design for services will be explored through the survey of existing literature, specifically by drawing on eight doctoral theses that were produced by the World Design research group. The work of World Design researcher-designers was guided by a strong ethos of social and service design for development in marginalised communities. The paper also draws on a case study in Namibia and South Africa titled ‘My Dream World’. This case study presents a good example of how the social design for services framework functions in practice during experimentation and research in the field. The social design for services framework transfers the World Design group’s research results into practical action, providing a tool for the facilitation of design and research processes for sustainable development in marginal contexts.

In recent history, different design approaches have been entering fields like management and strategy to improve product development and service delivery. Specifically, entrepreneurship has adopted a user-centric mindset in methodologies like the business canvas model and the value proposition canvas which increases the awareness of the users’ needs when developing solutions. What happens when a service design approach is used to understand the entrepreneurs’ experience through the creation of their startups? Recent literature suggests that entrepreneurial activity and success is conditioned by their local entrepreneurship ecosystem. This study investigates the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem of Medellín, Colombia - an ecosystem in constant growth but that lacks qualitative analysis. The sample consists of 12 entrepreneurs in early-stage phase. The data was gathered with two design research methods: Cultural Probes and Semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the information collected facilitated the development of 4 insights about the entrepreneurs and an experience map to visualise and interpret their journey to create a startup. The results of this study reflected the implications of the ecosystem, the explanation of the users’ perceptions and awareness and propose a set of ideas to the local government to improve the experience of undertaking a startup in Medellín.
