Children’s role in the research process is often limited to a passive role as subject, recipient or object of data rather than as active contributor. The sociology of childhood considers children to be competent social actors and advocates for them to be recognised as such. This recognition is yet to filter into mainstream research agendas with children often remaining a passive provider to research that seeks to elicit their perspectives. This article presents an examination of the processes that children use when analysing their own qualitative research data as observed within a qualitative research project. It provides insight into the ability to increase the richness of data obtained when researching with children, by including their perspectives and contributions in the data analysis process. Children’s capacity as capable and competent contributors to research beyond the more passive role of participant is described and the ways that children can have a greater participatory role in qualitative data collection and analysis processes are discussed.

A number of dangerous tendencies that generate turbulence of social relations lead to active desocialization of people. Among these tendencies are: leading role of pragmatics, transformation of the ideal of culture; “spirit of haste”, modification of communicative and ethical norms, digital addiction, digital dementia, digital autism, problems connected with the ecology of language and culture, destruction of the desire to obtain the cultural values, etc. All of these factors restrict, destroy and, eventually, make impossible the most important form of human interaction − communication. The effectiveness of communication is ensured, in particular, by the amount of knowledge provided by the so-called communicative disciplines. Knowledge of the linguistic norms and general rules of communication guarantees its success and, thus, on the one hand, meets the high requirements of the communicative competence of a modern person, and on the other hand, actively allows to resist the aforecited dangerous social tendencies. This determines the priority of communicative disciplines in modern education, in particular, practical stylistics and culture of speech. The article debunks the stereotypes about communicative disciplines as “secondary” row ones; demonstrates the multidirectionality of these ideas and modern educational requirements, which are formed as “the request of the modern time”. Specific measures are outlined to actualize the teaching of practical stylistics and culture of speech in modern educational programs. An attempt is made to draw the attention of the philological community to the crisis in teaching communicative disciplines and its possible consequences.

On the example of works of the classic of Belarusian literature Maksim Bogdanovich, there is studied the role of literary canon in aesthetic selfidentification of national literature. It is noted that the literary canon acts as a strategy of cultural identity, one of the effective forms, and important condition of formation of the cultural symbolic world of meanings funded by the general cultural values of humankind. It is stated that historical, cultural, artistic, ontological, existential values and meanings explicated in the poetic canon of Maksim Bogdanovich became an important part of spiritual dimension, cultural integration, harmonization of social relations. A distinctive feature of the poet’s appeal to the canonical art form is securing for it the role of a symbolic consolidating referential sign designed to form a “cultural consciousness”, to instill the sense of general aesthetized ethnocultural unity, to serve as a means of spiritual integration and national consolidation of society.
