The literatures showed that the important of assessment has brought so significance works and studies. Currently, the teacher’s conception and belief to conduct assessment being questioned because of its nature, the cheating habit among students while assessing summative kind of test becomes the roots of all the problems occurred during the classroom test. They, especially EFL teachers should not determine by the test as the only gear to measure learning outcomes, using formative as assessment for learning is better proposed and understood rather than spotlighting the assessment of learning. Dispute summative can someway use feedback for formative purpose, it seems the roles of the teachers would take so little function for students’ improvement. It is then suggested for EFL teachers, they should immense formative procedures over summative to enhance the learning target which has been previously shared with students. Eventually, if it is successfully offered and applied massively by teachers, the earlier problems found such as cheating, lower students’ grade, would be diminished, and positively change the learning behavior. In addition, will not possible to transform teachers’ conception and practice from being an “assessment of learning” into assessment for learning”. The formative teachers will always examine their students based on the dynamic situation of their students, they viewed every dynamic problem found during classroom teaching and learning could be as feedback for teaching improvement and re-designed their teaching method in the classroom.

Purpose This paper aims to explore the impact of differences in educational traditions on conventions of teaching and learning, and on the measurement of learning outcomes. These are critical issues within the context of business schools that are steeped in one dominant tradition but have a large population of international students previously educated in other traditions. The paper argues that international students face the challenge of satisfactorily demonstrating learning according to foreign conventions that are different from what they would have been accustomed to within the framework of their home educational tradition. Design/methodology/approach This study draws on a bilingual literature review to capture differences in educational traditions between Australia and China. It then uses logistic regression to analyze the performance of 800 domestic and international Chinese students across a range of different assessment formats at a large Australian business school. Findings The study finds statistically significant differences in the performance of these two student groups on different assessment types. It concludes that the conventions on approaches to the assessment of learning shaped by a specific educational tradition can hamper the effective demonstration of learning among students from other educational traditions. Originality/value The paper focuses on issues related to the assessment of learning in multicultural higher education contexts, which has received less attention in the literature compared to issues on teaching approaches in multicultural contexts. The paper also highlights important implications on the validity of the measurement of learning outcomes and on the subsequent impact on graduate recruitment.

The subject of aqidah-akhlaq has a contribution in providing motivation to students to practice the values of religious belief (monotheism) and moral behavior in daily life. In this study, supporting factors in the implementation of the learning process of this subject at Islamic senior high schools (MAs) were the factors of the teachers and the environment. The research is concerned with, firstly the delivery of the teaching and learning process on the aqidah-akhlaq subject at MAs, and secondly the supporting factors of teachers in the learning process of the aqidah-akhlaq subject in MA students. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive research method. Meanwhile, the data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research subjects were MA teachers who were in the West-South Aceh covering 5 regions: Aceh Jaya, West Aceh, Nagan Raya, Southwest Aceh, and South Aceh. The results showed that (1) there were several steps in the learning process carried out by the teachers, i.e. preparing lesson plans, delivering subject consisting of two aspects: firstly varied teaching methods and secondly varied learning media, conducting an assessment of learning outcomes, and performing follow-up efforts through individual approaches to deal with problematic students, and (2) in terms of supporting factors from both parents and society, it showed that some were supportive and some others did not care of their children.

AbstractWe present progress made in doctoral thesis «Configuration of the assessment practices of mathematics teachers at university». Preliminary analysis shows the predominance of «summative assessment» of learning, content-centered, aside from the teaching and study activities, producing poor operative learning outcomes. This didactic phenomenon entails the problem of establishing the conditions and constraints that hinder the development of a more functional kind of assessment that mediates these activities and obtain more operational learning. Finally, we construct the concept of assessment of mediated interactivity as a contribution to the design and management of didactic and mathematical praxeology.

With the economic development in our country, there are more and more international exchanges and communications. Hence, the ability to read, write, and communicate in English is essential and very necessary. In traditional English classroom teaching, teachers are the disseminators of knowledge, whereas students only receive knowledge passively. Due to the limitation of teaching hours and the lack of teaching approaches, it is necessary to make up for the insufficiency in the teaching activities through computer technology and multimedia technology. Abundant teaching approaches can cultivate the independent inquiry ability of students, and the establishment of such an English learning platform is conducive to improving the students’ ability to make full use of the information technology. Through teaching and learning, the students can become the main entity in the English teaching, which can stimulate their enthusiasm and form a good awareness for English learning. In this paper, the radial basis function (hereinafter referred to as RBF for short) algorithm is adopted. Combined with the constructive English teaching method, practical design and construction are carried out by analyzing the concepts, principles, and application strategies of smart classroom teaching in the multimedia background. The practice has proved that the method proposed in this paper is effective and has certain research value and positive significance for the research on English teaching.

The development of quality education in the teaching and learning process must be able to choose and apply various approaches and methods to improve student learning achievement. The quality of learning achievement of students in Islamic Education (PAI) subjects with scores below the KKM (Not Complete) reaches 70%. Even though the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) of PAI subjects in class VIII 2 of Kuantan Hilir 1 Junior High School are 77. Therefore, this study was tried to deal with the problem of low student learning outcomes. One method that can be applied is the Peer Group Teaching method. The Peer Group Teaching method provides an opportunity for students who have completed learning to provide assistance to their peers, so they will not be awkward to ask if something is unclear.<p> The purpose of this study were: (1) to determine the application of the Peer Group Teaching method in PAI Subjects in Class VIII 2 of Kuantan Hilir 1 Junior High School, (2) to find out the application of the Peer Group Teaching method to improve results student learning in PAI learning in class VIII 2 of Kuantan Hilir 1 Junior High School.</p><p> This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design of 3 cycles, namely pre-cycle, Cycle I and Cycle II. Each cycle consists of one meeting and four stages, namely: (1) action planning stage; (2) the stage of implementation of the action; (3) observation stage; (4) Analysis and reflection stages. The target of this study was class VIII 2 of Kuantan Hilir 1 Junior High School. Meanwhile, the data obtained in the form of the results of competency test and observation of group learning activities.</p><p> From the results of research data analysis, PAI learning with the use of the Peer Group Teaching method (peer tutoring) can improve student learning outcomes. This is evident from 30 students, 26 students (87%) have reached the specified KKM, 77, although there are 4 (13%) students who have not achieved individual completeness. But this has exceeded the set of success indicators as many as 80% of students reach KKM (Completed).</p><p> However, it seems that further efforts are still needed in empowering student learning outcomes in the school. The teacher is expected to deliver material not only with oral and monotonous information but also by using various learning methods. In addition, it is expected that this learning model can be used as one of the PAI learning alternatives because with this method students become more active in thinking and doing during teaching and learning activities.</p><p><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong><em>: Peer Group Teaching Method</em><em>;</em><em> Learning Outcomes</em><em>;</em><em> Islamic Education</em></p>

Despite that converging evidence has led to the mandate of phonics instruction in primary education in the UK, U.S. and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) China and Taiwan, teachers across the board (native or EFL, experienced or novice alike) have been found to lack the knowledge required for delivering high-quality synthetic phonics. While reforms to improve current practices are underway, it is vital that teachers are supported with well-designed educational technology (e.g., interactive synthetic phonics software) to maintain teaching standards and boost learning outcomes. Although well-designed interactive synthetic phonics software is available, it is not suitable for Chinese L1 EFL teachers and pupils. The current article introduces Easy Phonics (interactive synthetic phonics software designed specifically for Chinese L1 EFL teachers and pupils), presents preliminary findings using the software in classroom teaching, and confirms its potential to assist ‘phonics-untrained’ teachers in maintaining teaching standards and boosting learning outcomes. The current article, while supporting the use of educational technology in phonics teaching, does not suggest that educational technology can ‘replace’ teachers in phonics instruction.

Background: Learning outcomes are changes in student behavior due to learning. Behavior change is caused by achieving mastery over a number of materials given in the teaching and learning process. These results can be in the form of changes in cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. This study aims to determine the increase in student learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 1 Kairatu on the excretion system in humans which is taught by applying the inquiry learning model combined with the POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model. Method: The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. In this study, tests were given at the beginning and end of learning aimed to determine the level of student understanding of the material excretory system in humans. Non-test techniques in the form of affective assessment sheets and psychomotor assessment sheets. Results: Students' understanding of material in the Excretion System in humans prior to the implementation of the inquiry learning model combined with the POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model is very low but, when integrating these two learning models there are many changes in student understanding that can be seen from their learning outcomes. Conclusion: There is an increase in student learning outcomes after conducting the teaching and learning process by using the inquiry learning model that is integrated with the POE (Predict-Observe- Explain) learning model on excretory material in humans
