The authors investigated several import retail e-commerce sellers through questionnaires and selected several types of variables based on Porter's competitive strategy theory. Then the authors used the panel data to empirically verify theoretical consumptions based on samples got by Python method from Jingdong Global Purchases and Tmall International, the top two e-commerce platforms in China. Results validated the three major competitive strategies that could enhance the competitive advantages to import retail e-commerce sellers. As it was not applied to all platforms and commodities, sellers should make different strategies through different platforms and commodities. This article has theoretical significance that filled in the gaps on import retail e-commerce sellers' competition. It also has certain practical significance by providing references for sellers on how to improve their competitive advantages, promote healthy competition and development of the import retail e-commerce, even to facilitate the structure adjustment of consumption and foreign trade in China.

Despite the importance of green innovation, empirical evidence on its relationship with firm performance is mixed. This study endeavors to address this inconsistency in the evidence by investigating the value-capturing role of competitive strategy. It argues that firms tend to choose appropriate a competitive strategy to maximize performance of green innovation, especially in highly competitive contexts. We collected data from 195 firms in China. Our results suggest that the performance implications of green innovation (including green product innovation and green process innovation) are moderated by competitive strategies (including differentiation strategy and cost-leadership strategy), and these moderating effects are more prominent when competitive intensity is high. The findings of this study enrich theoretical understanding both of green innovation and of competitive strategy and have practical implications for green innovation management.

This paper investigates the relationship between marketing channels and underwriting service quality with focus on two major channels: salesperson and bancassurance. Based on the data of life insurance in Taiwan, the empirical analysis shows that the traditional salesperson channel has competitive advantages in underwriting service quality. This result supports the coexistence of salesperson and bancassurance because previous literature indicated bancassurance more cost-efficient than a salesperson. The empirical result shows that insurers with more dependence on salesperson channel present lower complaint ratio and higher contract persistency due to better service quality. The empirical result also indicates that service quality has a significantly positive impact on insurer’s reputation. This finding implies that the insurers with more dependence on bancassurance should take additional competitive strategies to maintain the long-term customer relation.

While developing and implementing strategies to stimulate the food industry development in Ukraine, it is necessary to take into account not only structural changes in industry, but also immediate prerequisites and ability of the participating companies to increase the level of adaptability. Modern food industry does not provide incentives for participating companies to increase the level of adaptability. In the market economy, the basic condition for the food business viability is the availability of high level of adaptability. In today's economic environment, it is important to form and maintain the competitive advantage of food business over a long period. Further research is concerned with the development of the process for improving the adaptability and implementation of initiative enterprise competitive strategy, as well as the ability to provide sustainable competitive advantages. The adaptability of the enterprise is based on the level of its competence in relation to other competing enterprises in the accumulation and use of production potential of a certain direction. The essential feature of adaptability is stability of economic potential of the enterprise, which makes it possible to create a stable market advantage. Due to the timely disclosure of the peculiarities of adaptability formation, it is possible to achieve not only the sustainable market advantage, but also the state of sustainable development of the enterprise and industry as a whole. In order to maintain and increase market share, food companies should properly carry out the process of adaptability formation, that is, consistently carry out the stage of creating initiative competitive strategy and the stage of its implementation, taking into account the internal reserves of increasing the enterprise competitiveness, due to the rational use of resource potential, modernization of existing production capacities. Thus, the main factor influencing the adaptability formation of the food enterprise is market environment, which includes real consumer needs, requests to the enterprise from suppliers and consumers, which it can meet by producing the relevant products and forming well-established system of supply and marketing.

This paper argues that price competition is inevitable in the airline markets because passenger air service is a search good. For the same reason, the optimal long run competitive strategy for the airlines is cost leadership, although qualitative advantages should be exploited by a differentiation strategy in the short run. The airlines have devised a variety of creative pricing strategies which are analyzed for their economic content.
