Academic freedom is an important and irreplaceable necessity by the faculty member and it is his right to practice his various activities and express his views, ideas and philosophy without any external pressure exerted on him, and the current research aimed to measure academic freedom in its fields (participation in decision-making, scientific research, teaching Community Service) and its impact on the organizational affiliation of faculty members at the University of Babylon / College of Fine Arts in the Republic of Iraq, the study tool was a survey list consisting of (32) questions, the group was (98), the results reached to That the level of both academic freedom and organizational affiliation was (average), And that there is a statistically significant relationship between academic freedom and organizational affiliation at a level of significance (0.05), and one of the most important recommendations is the need to pay attention to academic freedom by the university presidency and provide financial support to faculty members to conduct their scientific research.

Stress is defined as a dynamic condition in which an individual is confronted with an opportunity, constraint, demand related to what he or she desires and for which the outcome is perceived to be both uncertain and important. This study focused on the manifestations and the sources of stress on faculty members of Hail University for the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2018-2019.  A quantitative-comparative approach was employed in this study. There were 236 faculty who had participated in the study resulting to 94.4% response rate. Data collection started from February 2019 to April 2019. To measure manifestations and the sources of stress, the Total Teacher Concern Inventory was used. This consists of 48 distinct statements. Weighted mean, Analysis of Variance (F-test), and (t-test) were used.  All statistical analyses were performed at 0.05 level of significance. Results shows that the faculty disagreed that the sources of stress from work-related stressors (3.47). A significant difference between time management and sex (0.04) was determined. Likewise, a significant difference between gastrointestinal manifestations (0.01), behavioral manifestations (0.01) and the faculty’s age was obtained.

This paper explores the influence of higher forestry education and forestry science at the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Zagreb on the formation and preservation of forest wealth in the Republic of Croatia during the past 120 years as the basic, authentic, self-renewable, biologically diverse and distinctly natural element. In order to do so, we shall provide a survey of some significant achievements of the faculty and its distinguished professors by citing examples of important textbooks and scientific papers. In the year 2018, the Faculty of Forestry in Zagreb marked the 120th anniversary of its establishment. It was on October 20th, 1898, that the Academy of Forestry was founded within the University of Zagreb as the first higher forestry institution in Croatia and in the south-east of Europe. The continuity of higher forestry education at the University of Zagreb has been retained to date through the periods of activity of the Academy of Forestry (1898 - 1919), the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry (1919-1946), the Agricultural-Forestry Faculty (1946 - 1960) and the Faculty of Forestry (1960 - to date). Three characteristic periods can be singled out in the development of forestry education and science at the Faculty of Forestry in Zagreb in the course of 120 years: the first half of the 20th century, the second half of the 20th century and the first half of the 21st century. The first half of the 20th century witnessed a surge in the Croatian forestry, which can primarily be attributed to the development of higher forestry education and science at the Academy of Forestry and the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry of the University of Zagreb. Among the most important contributions of university forestry education and science in Croatia are the establishment of the Zagreb School of Silviculture and the beginnings of organized and systematic scientific research in forestry. The second half of the 20th century is characterized by the blossoming of higher forestry education and science in Croatia, which had a direct impact on the condition of forests and the development of practical forestry. During this period, the Croatian forestry, science and practice became an outstanding example of mutual cooperation and powerful development, which brought about an improvement in the condition of forests in Croatia as a whole. The forestry practice firmly adhered to the principles of the Zagreb School of Silviculture, an orientation towards natural regeneration, natural stand structure, and natural, diverse and stable forests. This trend has continued in the 21st century. The new age has given rise to vast changes and challenges in higher forestry education and science. The crisis of forestry, which has gradually been evolving over the past fifteen years, has had its repercussions on the basic activity of the Faculty: higher education and science. Today, the Faculty of Forestry is confronted with two serious challenges: lesser interest of young people in studying and a reduced intensity and scope of scientific research in forest ecosystems. There are no objective reasons for either of the above, however. Forests are the most widespread and the most important natural wealth in the continental part of the Republic of Croatia. There are currently a large number of job openings in forestry and urban forestry, as well as in nature and environment protection, and this trend will continue to rise in the future. The Croatian forest ecosystems are facing growing numbers of challenges and problems. On the other hand, there are fewer and fewer workers in forestry. In view of this, there is no reason for crisis in one of the most natural and oldest studies at the University of Zagreb. On the contrary, forestry experts have splendid prospects in today’s ecological, economic and social conditions. The task of the Faculty is to adjust itself and its basic products, experts in the management of forest ecosystems of the Republic of Croatia, to new challenges. Forestry practice and forestry science must work together, just as they have done throughout the long forestry history. Only be doing so will their development be ensured in accordance with the definition: forestry is a science, profession and art of managing and preserving forest ecosystems for the permanent benefit of man, society, environment and economy.

Copyright is a form of intellectual property protection granted under Copyright Act to the creators of original works of authorship. Libraries are the backbone of any organization or an institution. Alongside, libraries are also the torch bearers, in the creating awareness of the IPR aspects to its user community. A study on finding the awareness levels in the area of intellectual property rights in general and copyright in specific is the need of the hour in the universities, as they grooming the next generation of workers happens in there. Here is a study aimed at to see how the faculties in the university are aware of copyright and its implications. There are a total of 62 respondents participated in the survey. The data has been analyses and interpreted accordingly and presented in the form of tables and figures suitably. The study has dwells in detail about Awareness on copyright, Purpose of using the copyrighted material, Awareness on copyright policies and on type of the copyrighted material, Knowledge on copyright, Awareness on Indian copyright act 1957, Views on copyright protection for their work, Safeguarding the interest of copyright owners and Understanding on the IP concepts among the teaching community. The study focuses on Awareness on copyright, use of copyright, to access the user level of knowledge on copyright and awareness on implications of copyright violation for self-learning, research as well as teaching among the faculty members of Post-Graduation Departments of Tumkur University, Tumakuru.

Faculty members of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) perform research function in addition to instruction, extension and production. This study was conducted to look into the profile of the published research from year of entry up to year 2008 of the regular faculty members of the First Semester of SY 2008-2009 at the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) as affected by some personal and professional factors. It utilized the correlational design of descriptive method of research. Findings showed that the CBAA faculty is characterized by dominance of members of the female sex, of married status, of middle to senior age, with master’s degree, with academic rank of associate professor, and with official designations. Almost half of them have received monthly salary ranging from P10, 001 – P20, 000. Very few are members of scientific/research organizations. The CBAA faculty have published research since 2000. From 2000 to 2008, a total of 43 researches have been published. These were done by nearly half (19) of the 39 regular CBAA faculty members. More researches were done with co-authors than researches by single authors. Most of these researches are of college and curricular program levels, and over four-fifths were financed personally by the faculty researchers. All the researches were published in research journals and some of them were also disseminated in lecture fora and research dissemination and utilization seminars. One research was disseminated through poster exhibit. Majority of the regular CBAA faculty members have never participated in any research activity since their year of entry to the University up to year 2008. Educational attainment and membership in scientific/research organizations came out as good indicators of faculty research productivity.Keywords: Research, higher education, research productivity, correlational descriptive method,Philippines

The present study aimed to identify the scientific research obstacles facing faculty members in the College of Education at Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University (PNU) and to determine the differences in the obstacles according to age, academic rank, scientific specialty, marital status, number of completed studies, and time since the last academic rank was received. An initial data form and questionnaire were prepared to identify the obstacles to scientific research. The questionnaire assessed personal and family obstacles, social factors, technical skills, organizational and professional obstacles, and societal obstacles. The researcher assessed the validity and reliability of the survey instrument by testing it on a sample of 23 faculty members at the university. The results demonstrated a high degree of validity (i.e., high internal consistency) and reliability (Cronbach's alpha coefficient: .97). The study instrument was administered to a final sample of 69 faculty members (out of 111) at the university. The results demonstrated a decrease in the averages of the obstacles. The arithmetic averages for the obstacles were organizational and professional obstacles (2.76), societal obstacles (2.64), personal and family obstacles (1.87), and skills-related obstacles (1.70). The results demonstrated no significant differences for any obstacles with respect to age, academic rank or scientific specialization. There were significant differences in skills-related obstacles according to the number of completed studies; researchers with no completed projects faced greater obstacles. The results also demonstrated significant differences in societal obstacles associated with the length of time since the last academic rank was received.

A survey was conducted among foreign students studying at Natural Sciences Education Faculty of the I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University located in Cheboksary, the Republic of Chuvashia, Russia. The methodology was used to diagnose the learning motivation of students and a survey was conducted in order to identify socio-pedagogical conditions of students adaptation to the university. Leading motives have been established that determine the desire of foreign students to obtain higher education in Russian cities. The dynamics of student motivation changes has been revealed. It is also found that the assessment of the university and faculty management work by foreign students testifies to the favorable social and pedagogical environment that is developed at the faculty and university. Foreign students poor knowledge of special terminology used for the study of natural sciences is noted. The author identified that it is necessary for foreign students to acquire professional activities of pedagogical education bachelors. Studying at a pedagogical university is demanded by foreign citizens from Central Asia states. Working with foreign students enriches the teaching experience of faculty members. Strengthening multicultural relations, creating conditions conducive to the full self-realization of foreign students personality facilitates the process of their adaptation and integration into the educational environment. Training a prospective bachelor of pedagogical education as a specialist takes place in the context of motivations change throughout the learning process. At the same time, an important point is the confidence in the future profession. In such conditions, educational and cognitive motives become more important and stimulate students to acquire knowledge in the field of their chosen profession.

The present study aimed at investigate the reality of professional development Among Hail University faculty members from their point of view. In this study, the researcher used the descriptive and analytical method. To achieve the aim of the study, a questionnaire was done by the researcher. It was accredited valid and reliable. It included three areas (teaching, scientific research, community service) and 36 paragraphs. The study was conducted on a random sample of (126) members from the University of Hail in different disciplines. The results of the study indicated that the total score for the reality of professional development got moderate, with mean of (3.56), and the field of teaching values ​​got moderate and the highest arithmetic mean reaching (3.64), followed by the field of scientific research which got moderate with an arithmetic mean (3.53), It is followed by the field of community service, and he got moderate with a mean (3.50). The results of the study also revealed that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≤0.05). Due to the variable of gender, college, degree, and experience. The study recommended the following: encouraging the exchange of visits and experiences between faculty members, encouraging faculty members to participate in community service programs and to overcome all difficulties and obstacles and holding symposia in teaching, teaching methods and classroom management.

The purpose of this study is to know the status quo of the application of the Jordanian universities to E-Management from the viewpoint of the faculty members. The study used the descriptive approach by which a resolution of 28 paragraphs has been developed, and the truthfulness and consistency of the tool was validated, its sample of the faculty members was formed in Jordanian universities represented at the University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, and Mu'tah University, a number of 300 persons has been selected randomly. The study concluded the following results: The results of mean averages and standard deviations have shown that status quo of the application of E-Management by Jordanian universities from the viewpoint of faculty members is moderate. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (= 0.05 α) in the study sample estimates in the fact that the Jordanian universities applied E-Management from the viewpoint of the faculty members due to the gender variable and found statistically significant differences at the level of significance (= 0.05 α) due to the variable of the college and for the benefit of the scientific faculties, for the benefit of Assistant professor. The study recommended that Jordanian universities should publish an E-Management culture within university units by introducing departments to implement and apply E-Management at the university.

Welcome to this special issue of Learning and Teaching: The International Journal of Higher Education in the Social Sciences. As guest editors, we are delighted to be able to share the experiences of the Ethnography of the University Initiative (EUI, www.eui.uiuc.edu), a multi-disciplinary course-based initiative that fosters student research on their own universities and ishoused at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U of I). EUI is at once a pedagogical approach, a teaching community and a digital archive. EUI also works as a research agenda committed to student engagement with university practice and policy – and thus to institutional critique. In this editorial introduction, we provide an overview of EUI’s history, innovations, organisational structure and guiding values. We also introduce this issue’s authors – faculty members, an administrator and a former student – all of whom have taught with EUI and have documented here the ways in which taking the university as a research subject transformed their courses and teaching, and in some cases, their programmes and learning.
