The development of e-Learning is very promising at all levels of education. Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) has developed an e-learning or known as Kelip in 2006. However, the impact of e-learning on student achievement has no further explanation. Thus this quantitative study is aimed at exploring whether the use of e-learning, also known as KeLiP at the University of Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), is able to improve student’s achievement among the excellent students of language (PCB) and the below-average students of language (PKCB). The comparisons between the achievements of both groups are also studied. This experimental study involved 69 UniSZA diploma students taking the Arabic Language Proficiency course level 2 (UBA 1022). The students have been learning through KeLiP for 10 weeks with content materials from the UBA 1022 module which were presented electronically in the form of graphics, images, sounds, videos and hyperlinks. Pre and post test was conducted to evaluate student achievement. The study shows that the use of KeLiP has improved PCB and PKCB achievements with a mean of 26.545 per cent. The excellent students’ performances (PCB) continue to maintain their excellence over PKCB with a mean difference of 11.72 per cent. This study proves that KeLiP is able to improve student’s achievement overall and thus serves as an encouragement for the wide use of KeLiP among students and lecturers.

This research aims at discussing the false friends in teaching and learning Arabic. This is shown by means of a theoretical approach which explicates the false friends concept origin, and types . It also presents the western implication of the false friends, their origin in the languages, as well as their influence upon teaching and learning a language. The research then presents an applied approach of those false friends in five languages, compared to the Arabic language, namely: Urdu, Indonesian, Turkish, Malay, and Hosa based on the analytical descriptive approach. The false friends are mostly common among languages that have relationship –or from the same language family- and are less common in the diverged languages. Furthermore, false friends emerged as a result of borrowing among languages, by hairing an effect on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers of Arabic in five languages.

The present study aims at exploring the under-investigated interface between SA and L2 phonological development by assessing the impact of a 3-month SA programme on the pronunciation of a group of 23 Catalan/Spanish learners of English (NNSs) by means of phonetic measures and perceived FA measures. 6 native speakers (NS) in an exchange programme in Spain provided baseline data for comparison purposes. The participants were recorded performing a reading aloud task before (pre-test) and immediately after (post-test) the SA. Another group of 37 proficient non-native listeners, also bilingual in Catalan/Spanish and trained in English phonetics, assessed the NNS' speech samples for degree of FA. Phonetic measures consisted of pronunciation accuracy scores computed by counting pronunciation errors (phonemic deletions, insertions and substitutions, and stress misplacement). Measures of perceived FA were obtained with two experiments. In experiment 1, the listeners heard a random presentation of the sentences produced by the NSs and by the NNSs at pre-test and post-test and rated them on a 7-point Likert scale for degree of FA (1 = “native” , 7 = “heavy foreign accent”). In experiment 2, they heard paired pre-test/post-test sentences (i.e. produced by the same NNS at pre-test and post-test) and indicated which of the two sounded more native-like. Then, they stated their judgment confidence level on a 7-point scale (1 = “unsure”, 7 = “sure”). Results indicated a slight, non-significant improvement in perceived FA after SA. However, a significant decrease was found in pronunciation accuracy scores after SA. Measures of pronunciation accuracy and FA ratings were also found to be strongly correlated. These findings are discussed in light of the often reported mixed results as regards pronunciation improvement during short-term immersion.

Arabic has been one of the most widely used languages in human communication not only because of its aspects surpassing those of other languages, but due to the Divine honor as the language of Holy Koran as Allah said ,”We made it an Arabic Koran that perhaps you will understand (alzukhruf , 3) This honor has enhanced and elevated the Arabic language status among the Arabs , its native speakers after all and among non-Arab Muslims, who found Arabic flexibility and potency of expression that their languages lack in addition to the holiness of Arabic as the language of the Koran and the Sunnah of the Prophet who is sent as Messengers for human beings. Due to the distinguished status of Arabic and its values for non-Arab Muslims, I addressed in this study not only the factors enhancing the usage of Arabic language by non-Arab peoples who embraced Islam and establishing. this language in the civilizations of these peoples, but also the impact of the Arabic language on their languages besides their cultural production , supporting my findings with the testimonies of objective researchers who had incontrovertible impact on the Arab civilization itself.

The aim of the current research is to develop the skills of creative written expression among middle school pupils (linguistically gifted preparatory first grade pupils) through a strategy based on contextualism theory. To achieve the aim of the research، the researchers followed both the descriptive approach and the experimental one-group approach. The research group consisted of a group of linguistically gifted first-grade pupils، whose number reached (37) male and female pupils، where they were selected according to the tools of detection and identification of gifted pupils identified in the current research. The two researchers prepared a List of characteristics of linguistically gifted students، a list of creative writing expression skills suitable for first grade linguistically gifted preparatory pupils، and tested creative writing expression skills for first grade linguistically gifted intermediate pupils. The teacher's guide on creative expression topics was prepared according to the proposed contextualism-based strategy، and the student's book on creative expression topics according to the proposed contextual-based strategy. The research concluded the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in developing creative writing expression skills at the level of (fluency - flexibility - originality). Where the differences were statistically significant at a level of significance (0.01) in favor of the post application in the test of creative writing for first-grade intermediate pupils who were linguistically gifted، and the size of the impact of the strategy was large. In light of the results of the current research، the research recommended the following: - Carrying out more studies concerned with creative written expression and developing his skills، as well as including the detection of language errors in creative written expression. - Use modern strategies in teaching expression، and raise the efficiency of teachers by holding periodic courses for them on how to use these strategies. - Attention to the areas of creative written expression that concern students، or relate to their lives، and present them to them. - Arabic language books include some topics of creative written expression. - Giving the share of expression adequate attention from the Ministry of Education، and explaining the importance of expression in their lives.
