The article reveals the historiographical approach of Transnistrian separatism in the works of pro-separatist authors, Russian and those publicized in the Eastern part of the Republic of Moldova. The author presents the works that appeared until 2005. As it is ascertained, researchers dwell upon the Transnistrian separatism problem from the position of the environment they were rooted in, projecting their research results on the present and the future, or out of the need to aliment and decode their identity, to feed their imagination. The pro-separatist historiography includes the same ideas regarding the MSSR history. This means nothing but “the translation” of the past into present or the mechanic and passionate protection of the present into the past, the positive or negative capitalization of historical events, or decline in the run of deformation and fabrication in pro-separatist historiography was produced due to an ideological approach of the Transnistrian problem. Albeit, generally speaking, all authors both from Transnistria and the Russian Federation recognize the impact of the Russian Federation in generating and perpetuating the Transnistrian separatism.

Before the outbreak of the pandemic and a radical change in the social and labor situation in the country, the main sources of the beginning of confrontations between workers and employers were non-payment of wages, low wages and violations of working conditions. In the context of the spread of the coronavirus infection, the top three included "reductions in workers", displacing "low wages". These reasons determined the key and main problems faced by the majority of the country's citizens.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of the regulatory-driven market structure on firm pricing behaviour by testing the structure-conduct-performance (S-C-P) hypothesis for both life and non-life insurance markets in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach – Using a panel data on 14 life and 22 non-life insurers from 2007 to 2011, the authors employed the Herfindahl Hirschman Index and concentration ratio as proxies for the S-C-P hypothesis while efficiency scores were estimated using the data envelopment analysis technique to proxy for the efficient structure (ES) hypothesis. The dependent variable, profitability was measured as return on assets while controlling for size, underwriting risk, leverage, GDP growth rate and inflation. The models were estimated using the panel corrected standard errors of Beck and Katz (1995) and random effects estimations. Findings – The results from the empirical estimation provide ample evidence in support for ES hypothesis for both life and non-life insurance markets. While conflicting results was found for SCP hypothesis in the non-life insurance market, it was rejected in the life insurance market. The findings also point to an increasing level of competition in both life and non-life insurance industry in Ghana though they still remain concentrated with the life insurance sector having high levels of efficiency compared to the non-life sector. Practical implications – The findings of the study will enhance the understanding of firm behaviour in the new markets created to shape regulatory and competition policies of the regulator to promote consumer welfare while ensuring a stable industry to enhance its role in economic development. Originality/value – This is the first study to test the market power and efficient hypotheses on the insurance industry in Ghana. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this study is the first to examine the determinants of profitability in the non-life insurance market.

Abstract. Taking into account the sanitary and epidemiological conditions in the Russian Federation associated with the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, the dynamics of occupational morbidity rates from exposure to a biological factor over the past 20 years and, in particular, for 2020 was analyzed. On the state of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population in the Russian Federation, an analysis of the structure of occupational pathology in the Federal districts of Russia was carried out with an emphasis on the contribution of COVID-19. The obtained data on Federal districts with a high scatter of indicators can be explained by the initially high levels of occupational pathology in a number of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as by the peculiarities of the spread of COVID-19, the suspension of the activities of occupational medicine centers, and various development of the algorithm for the examination of the connection between COVID-19 cases and working conditions for medical workers.
