The environmental parameters of power equipment are important in terms of minimizing the negative impact on the environment. Intermetallic infrared porous flameless burners are a new generation of burners with improved performance. Gas burners are among the most efficient devices for direct conversion of combustion heat into infrared energy. Despite the improved environmental characteristics of infrared porous burners compared to traditional burners, during operation they can emit unwanted and hazardous combustion products of gas mixtures (or other fuels), especially during transient and high-power modes. In this work, catalytic coatings based on cerium-based oxide systems with a small addition of silicon oxides were obtained. The deposition of the catalytic material on porous intermetallic substrates was controlled using the gravimetric method, optical analysis system, and scanning electron microscopy, and its chemical structure was investigated using IR spectroscopy. The uniform distribution of the coating over the substrate surface and the correspondence of the IR peaks with the chemical composition of the synthesized systems were detected.

AbstructWe succeeded in the preparation of strontium-barium niobate (Sr0.3Ba0.7Nb2O6 : SBN30)that have a tetragonal tungsten bronze type structure thin films on SrTiO3 (100), STO, or La doped SrTiO3 (100), LSTO, single crystal substrates by a spin coating process. LSTO substrate can be used for electrode. A homogeneous coating solution was prepared with Sr and Ba acetates and Nb(OEt)5 as raw materials, and acetic acid and diethylene glycol monomethyl ether as solvents. The coating thin films were sintered at temperature from 700 to 1000°C for 10 min in air. It was confirmed that the thin films on STO substrate sintered above 700°C were in the epitaxial growth because the 16 diffraction spots were observed on the pole figure using (121) reflection. The <130> and <310> direction of the thin film on STO were oriented with the c-axis in parallel to the substrate surface. However, the diffraction spots of thin film on LSTO substrate sintered at 700°C were corresponds to the expected pattern for (110).

In this study, an aqueous sol-gel synthesis method and subsequent dip-coating technique were applied for the preparation of yttrium iron garnet (YIG), yttrium iron perovskite (YIP), and terbium iron perovskite (TIP) bulk and thin films. The monophasic highly crystalline different iron ferrite powders have been synthesized using this simple aqueous sol-gel process displaying the suitability of the method. In the next step, the same sol-gel solution was used for the fabrication of coatings on monocrystalline silicon (100) using a dip-coating procedure. This resulted, likely due to substrate surface influence, in all coatings having mixed phases of both garnet and perovskite. Thermogravimetric (TG) analysis of the precursor gels was carried out. All the samples were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis. The coatings were also investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Magnetic measurements were also carried out.

A new system for converting combustion heat into electric power was proposed on the basis of countercurrent burner with thermoelectric element embedded in a wall separating incoming fresh mixture and combustion products. The wall serves as heat exchanger between combustion products and the fresh mixture. Numerical simulations showed that almost whole combustion heat may be transferred through the thermoelectric element in such system and the total thermal efficiency attained a value close to the conversion efficiency of the thermoelectric device itself.

Construction industry creates an environment for people's lives. On the other hand, construction activities have a negative impact on various aspects of the environment. It consumes natural raw materials, significantly contributes to carbon footprint, waste, etc. Appropriate choice of constructional, material, technical, technological and environmental parameters of buildings can partially reduce this negative impacts. By designing, implementing and using wood-based constructions it is possible to reduce the negative impact in the area of construction waste generation. Currently, the construction market offers a large number of construction systems of wooden buildings, which have both strengths and weaknesses. In this paper are identified construction systems of wooden buildings offered on the Slovak construction market. The aim of the paper is a detailed identification of construction waste generation during the realization of particular wooden structures and monitoring of waste generation in production factory (off site) and on construction site (on site) during the construction of wooden buildings. Based on the obtained information, the individual construction systems of wood-based constructions are compared in terms of construction waste generation

TiO2-ZrO2 mixed-oxide membranes were prepared via polymeric sol-gel technique. The final composition is already predefined during the preparation of the sols by using the corresponding quantities of the starting alkoxides. The mixed-oxide membranes were characterized by Xray diffraction, nitrogen sorption, and field emission scanning electron microscopy as well as filtration and corrosion tests. The observed results prove the positive influence on the investigated properties by addition of a second oxide. Depending on the composition of the mixed-oxide membranes, a remarkable increase in the crystallization temperatures is demonstrated. Using mixed-oxide systems, the retardation of grain growth is confirmed.

ABSTRACTSol-gel processes can provide a route to oxide ceramics with controlled microstructure and homogeneity. This feature can be exploited from an understanding of the inter-relationship between the characteristics of concentrated sols and the microstructure of the resultant gels produced on dehydration. Among several characterisation techniques employed (light scattering, incoherent neutron scattering, viscoelastic behaviour) neutron small angle scattering (SANS) has proved particularly powerful in the study of the mechanism of the sol to gel conversion process. Applications of SANS in the characterisation of sols containing (a) discrete particles (charge stabilised), (b) mixed oxide systems, and (c) particle aggregates, with fractal properties are illustrated.

A series of rare-earth composite catalytic material LZ1,LZ2 and LZ3 that contains mixture of La0.9Sr0.1Co0.5Mn0.5O3and Ce0.7Zr0.3O2in different proportion (3:7, 5:5, 7:3) were prepared by a sol-gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), specific surface analysis (BET) , Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The results indicated that in LZ3, a perfect crystal structure of perovskite and a cubic fluorite structure were formed. Besides LZ3 presented scattered spherical granules with a particle size of about 30 nm and a specific surface area of 20.9870 m2/g. The temperature of reduction peak was lowest (490°C) and peak area was larger, so it had the best catalytic activity for methane combustion.

The vanadium pentoxide ( V 2 O 5) films were obtained by using sol–gel procedure and then were annealed at different temperature in air. The effect of different annealing temperatures on the composition, the microstructure, the surface morphology and the optical properties of the films were characterized by methods such as by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and spectral transmittance. The results revealed that the film annealed at 150°C has amorphous structure and dense with a smooth surface and the films annealed at 300°C and 450°C have a polycrystalline V 2 O 5 structure with preferred growth orientation along (001) planes, the c-axis and perpendicular to the silicon substrate surface. From the spectral transmittance we determined the absorption edge using the Tauc plot. The results indicated that optical bandgap of V 2 O 5 thin films decreased with annealing temperature.

Increase in particulate matter air contamination and its negative impact on human health have resulted in efforts to monitor and identify the sources. Particles are produced by photochemical atmospheric reactions and the coagulation of combustion products from automobiles and stationary sources, with lifetimes of several days or more. The occurrence of particulate matters indoors depends on outdoor pollution and its transport indoors as well as on the presence of indoor sources. This paper aims to carry out a measuring of particular matters concentrations in indoor air of selected buildings and in outdoor air in village of Jasov. The mass concentrations of particulate matters for fractions of 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0, and 10.0 micrometers were measured and evaluated in order to determine the extent of exposure of people.
