scholarly journals NETWORK CONFLICT AS A SOCIAL PHENOMENON

The paper provides a conceptual study of network conflict phenomenon, identifying the essence and specifics of its manifestation in the social system. The process of modifying the system of social interaction, which leads to the formation of many political, economic and social contradictions, contributes to the formation of network conflicts. The paper identifies such essential characteristics of network processes that affect the dynamics of a conflict situation, such as, first, physical distance and the anonymity of network actors. They contribute to the formation of a sense of responsibility lack for the consequences of the conflict, create the illusion of absence rules, which can lead to a wrong perception of the problem and increase conflict. Secondly, sensory reduction, the inability to create a complete image with visual information leads to a deterioration of mutual understanding. Third, the appearance of the illusion of understanding the actor’s actions due to the creation of a distorted representation and incorrect perception of the information provided. Fourth, the absence of sanctions for violating values and norms makes it impossible to control the development of a conflict situation. Fifth, shortening the time interval for transmitting information creates, on the one hand, opportunities to control the speed of communication and forms additional opportunities for thinking about the problem, on the other hand, leads to the creation of the illusion of control over the situation. The article deals with the ontological, phenomenological and axiological modes of interaction of network structures in the situation of conflict confrontation. The paper concludes that the most effective way to reduce the impact of destabilizing factors on the system is systematically changing the network of interactions between its structural elements. Any system tends to adapt to the changed conditions of existence. Lack of regulation can lead to the destruction of network education. At the same time, the transformation of the conflicting form of interaction between actors leads to a change in the network. The study of conflicts, features and specifics of network elements interaction is practically significant, because this analysis will help to detect and activate integrative social mechanisms.

With the discovery of the new continent in the fifteenth century, a number of existing literary traditions contributed to the creation of the early image of America. In particular, Utopian features were projected onto the terra incognita. The equation of the New World with the earthly paradise and the Promised Land placed America in the tradition of ancient and medieval Utopian texts. The early picture of America is an indirect continuation of an ambivalent gendered view of the world predominant in most Utopias and pastorals. On the one hand, America becomes the positive projection of a benevolent female Mother-Earth who provides for all basic human needs; on the other, a number of intimidating gendered topoi are intricately interwoven with these new territories. The “feminine” appears to be a central issue of literary as well as pictorial imagery in the first narratives on America. As early as Columbus and Vespucci, America was stylized or allegorized through female symbols and metaphors. This paper will try to show how ancient Utopian concepts such as visions of a gendered paradise, myths of Amazons and role reversals, as well as notions of “women communism” were integral components in the creation of America as a myth. They can be traced in the writings of Columbus and Vespucci as well as in the early illustrations of their books. A selection of textual samples and pictures will serve as a basis for the discussion of these inherent gender issues.

The lexicographic activity of Ivan Kotlyarevsky, the founder of the new Ukrainian literary language, has constantly attracted and attracted the attention of researchers. The further in time his figure moves away from us, the more noticeable is his influence on the present. In the field of linguistic interests, the most prominent place is the issue of selection and extension of lexical and phraseological means, syntactic constructions of the author of “Aeneid”. Less attention is given to the research of I. Kotlyarevsky's work as a lexicographer – the founder and sponsor of the author's lexicography. The article attempts to trace the impact on the following Ukrainian lexicographic works of the Dictionary of the Lesser Russian words contained in “Aeneid” and many other Little Russians used for the fourth part of I. Kotlyarevsky. Small in size (1,125 words) and composed mainly to the text of the one work (“Aeneids”), Kotlyarevsky's dictionary is valuable both as the first Ukrainian-Russian dictionary with a vocabulary register of the new Ukrainian literary language, and as a model for compilling similar dictionaries in different editions. The lexical and phraseological units, attested in the annex to the “Aeneid” in 1809, are traced to the presence in the following Ukrainian lexicographic works of the 19th – beginning of the 21st centuries. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of Ivan Kotlyarevsky as the originator of Ukrainian author's lexicography in connection with the creation of the vocabulary of the creative personality language.

ABSTRACT: This paper presents and discusses the assumptions and challenges for developing an online panel of Internet users, focusing on the pioneering experience of the Living Lab on Media Content and Platforms (LLMCP). Throughout 2018, LLMCP developed a Google Chrome extension able to monitor, in real-time, the navigation of Internet users through this browser - the most widely used by the Portuguese. In order to initiate the collection of empirical information through an online panel of Internet users, the project adopted a set of theoretical, methodological and operational procedures in the development of both the monitoring tool and to attract participants. The dissemination of information and communication technologies (ICT) has been changing the way people live in society and how they organize their social relationships. Understanding that the information society involves the creation of technologies and procedures to investigate these new forms of organization and structuring of individuals' behaviors. In addition to the LLMCP case study, this article briefly discusses the impact of inquiry methods, such as interview and questionnaire, on online behavioral research. The results point two lines of reasoning. On the one hand, to the idea that mass adoption of ICT has contributed to the creation of new opportunities in the field of research methods in the social and human sciences. On the other hand, innovative approaches still need to overcome surveillance and control fears existing in hyper connected societies. KEYWORDS: behaviours; monitoring; privacy; social research methods; Internet.

The book traces major concepts including: the creation of the visual effects of accuracy through careful action and training; the development of visual judgment and connoisseurship; the role of a network in the production of knowledge; balancing readers’ expectations with representational conventions; and the effects of acts of collecting on the creation and circulation of knowledge. On the one hand, this study uncovers that approaches to knowledge production were different in the seventeenth century, as compared with in the twenty-first century. On the other, it reveals how the early modern struggle to sort through an overwhelming quantity of visual information - brought on by major changes in image production and circulation - resonates with our own.

In this essay, which starts from the current scenario triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and from the impact it has had on various sectors, the Authors lay the foundations for the study of a welfare of the heritage to accompany the cultural welfare through the creation of a model of integrated management of the same (heritage) both in aspects related to the enhancement and in those inherent in the process of cultural innovation, aiming attention at an international audience. A welfare that bets on the creation of “ecosystems” of welfare of the heritage able to connect to European clusters for a participatory management of the same, in the renewed scenario of economic recovery where the combination of culture and employment is central. All is analysed and contextualised in the welfare dimension/view. This essay, according to a definitive methodological approach in the opening paragraphs, reviews the value of culture and heritage in the European scenario - including a focus on the National Recovery and Resilience Plan - along with the themes of sustainable development and cultural indicators 2030, passing through the analysis of cultural activators and circular business models. In the second part, the effects of the pandemic on cultural employment are analysed, as well as scenarios of new professionalism in the job market in the sectors of heritage and culture, without neglecting the focus on the relationship between tourism and culture. According to a circular path, which is connected to the incipit of the essay that at the beginning refers to the Assembly of “Gli Stati Generali del Patrimonio Italiano” (The General States of the Italian Heritage), the Authors outline the perspectives de iure condendo also related to the workshop activities of the Assembly and to the need to iitiate among stakeholders (public and private) a continuous and participatory confrontation in order to promote, on the one hand, a new and sustainabe entrepreneurship of cultural heritage, and on the other hand, structural policies aimed at creating employment. Keywords: Cultural heritage; Welfare; Employment; Economic asset.

Gasoline come primarily from petroleum cuts, it is the preferred liquid fuel in our lives. Two gasoline samples of octane numbers 91 and 95 from Saudi Arabia petrol stations were studied. This study was achieved at three different temperatures 20oC, 30oC and 50oC representing the change in temperatures of the different seasons of the year. Both the evaporated gases of light aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX) of gasoline samples inside the tank were subjected to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively via capillary gas chromatography. The detailed hydrocarbon composition and the octane number of the studied gasoline samples were determined using detailed hydrocarbon analyzer. The idea of research is indicating the impact of light aromatic compounds in gasoline on the toxic effect of human and environment on the one hand, and on octane number of gasoline on the other hand. Although the value of octane number will be reduced but this will have a positive impact on the environment as a way to produce clean fuel.

Subject. The study focuses on the impact of the digital economy determinants of the education transformation. Objectives. The article provides our own approach treating the education capital as a specific asset of the digital economy, which has an acceleration effect and sets up new trends in education through integrative networks. Methods. The study is based on principles of the systems integration, cross-disciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. Results. The socio-economic progress was found to be determined with properties of human capital, which are solely specific to the digital economy. In new circumstances, it gets more important for actors of global, national, corporate and social networks to more actively cooperate within distributed networks in order to train high professionals, who would have skills in information networks. Thus, they would raise a new form of human capital – the capital of network education (network-based education capital). We describe positive externalities that arise when the educational sector joins communication processes. We illustrate how educational forms evolves, which are typical of a certain phase of the socio-economic development. The education capital was discovered to grow into a specific asset generating the quasi-rent and working as a social ladder only provided more actors are involved into the network. Conclusions and Relevance. Studying the evolution of educational forms through the cross-disciplinary method, we discovered the need for a system approach, which would help substantiate its transformation in the time of the digital economy, and the emergence of network-based education. These are technologies and tools of the digital economy that become unique factors generating the acceleration effect of the educational capital and ensuring the use of diverse network effects for the formation of intellectual capital and their social transformation.

Podkarpackie Voivodeship is one of the regions of Poland in which the number of agritourism entities is very high. Therefore tourism plays a significant role in its development strategy. The aim of the paper is to identify the current state of agritourism and the changes that have occurred in the region in the years 2000–2016. Specific objectives are to determine the distribution of agritourism farms and their offer, together with a comprehensive analysis of the environmental and socio-economic factors, as well as the impact of the Slovak-Ukrainian border. The report was developed on the statistical materials from the Polish Central Statistical Office, Podkarpackie Agricultural Advisory Centre in Boguchwała and data collected from municipalities and district offices that is published on their websites, as well as through interviews with 100 owners of agritourism farms in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The research has shown, on the one hand, the decline in the number of farms in the region and, on the other hand, the increase in the diversity of the tourist offer of these entities. Distribution of agritourism farms is closely linked to the attractiveness of natural environment and quality of secondary tourism resources. Traditional agritourism has not yet fully used its countryside, as well as cross-border advantages of its location.

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) enable the creation of videos in which a person appears to say or do things they did not. The impact of these so-called “deepfakes” hinges on their perceived realness. Here we tested different versions of deepfake faces for Welcome to Chechnya, a documentary that used face swaps to protect the privacy of Chechen torture survivors who were persecuted because of their sexual orientation. AI face swaps that replace an entire face with another were perceived as more human-like and less unsettling compared to partial face swaps that left the survivors’ original eyes unaltered. The full-face swap was deemed the least unsettling even in comparison to the original (unaltered) face. When rendered in full, AI face swaps can appear human and avoid aversive responses in the viewer associated with the uncanny valley.
