ABSTRACT This article explains the result of Sa’Unine String Orchestra as one of Indonesian orchestras in popular culture. Main idea of this research is to uncover and describe the characteristic, func- tion, and role of Sa’Unine String Orchestra within the popular culture in Indonesia. This research used qualitative method with ethnographical approaches to identify all facts that discovered during research. The conclusions of this research show that Sa’Unine String Orchestra moves in two ways, there are; the idealism which had a vision to create a real Indonesian string orchestra and a part of music industry. At the end, these two ways are connected to each other because of the earnings of those. Music industry becomes a support factor which create the idealism of Sa’Unine String Or- chestra to be an Indonesian String Orchestra. Keywords: String Orchestra, Music, Popular Culture.

Media Features beautiful as an ideal body shape which is slim, not fat with a flat stomach.  There are various beauty concepts which have been adopted by the mass media which stick in the public's mind. This often leads to acts of discrimination and bullying, which happened to a plus body size woman. Plus size women federation community (KAGUMI) has become a place for self expression and help for women of plus size to increase their confidence. This research aims to determine the communication strategy of Kagumi as a place to motivate and increase self confidence of their members. This research uses qualitative method; interviewees are the founder and members of Kagumi. The data obtained were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques including reduction, data presentation and conclusion. Results of this research show that the community role of Kagumi is a place to motivate through a credible communicator in conveying motivational messages can be quotes, words of wisdom which contain positive values for life, using inspirational stories through social media facebook, television, tabloids and offline activities. Obstacles encountered in the implementation of the communication strategy are self control from members, cyber crime and the spread of the message on a large scale in media which is contrary to the purpose of Kagumi.

<p>The results of the first year of research show that there has been a group of business activities called UPPKS (Usaha Peningkatan Pendapatan Keluarga Sejahtera) but the results are less than optimal because there are still many obstacles and weaknesses in managing management and business activities. The existing activities turned out to be still individual, not in groups. The research objective is the development of sustainable business activity groups in the form of cooperative embryos related to efforts to increase the role of women for poverty alleviation.</p><p>This research uses a qualitative method which is a description of conditions in the field. The solution implemented is through training and assistance in establishing cooperatives.</p>The results obtained are increased motivation to develop business through group activities, namely cooperatives, this is evident from the willingness to establish cooperatives even though they are not in the form of legal entities (embryos). Training and assistance are needed for the continuity of the cooperative.

The outbreak of Covid-19 in Mandailing Natal has caused several problems in the economic, educational and social fields. The problems that occur certainly really need the role of Baznas in overcoming them. The purpose of this research is to find out how the distribution of zakat in the process of preventing Covid-19 in Mandailing Natal and to know the perspective of maqashid sharia on this distribution. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method in the review of maqashid sharia. The results of the research show that the zakat distribution mechanism is carried out by means of Baznas actively engaging the community to call for zakat, it is even recommended to the public to take part in paying without having to be visited by Baznas or other policies including the muzakki's own workplace. Zakat distributed is not only in the form of money or food but is adjusted to the needs of the people affected by Covid-19 and is distributed periodically and Baznas is actively monitoring and evaluating the program. Zakat as an Islamic fiscal instrument has helped ease the burden on people affected by Covid. Consumptive zakat or productive zakat can be a mental solution and make the mustahik prosperous. Zakat together with its derivatives has brought enormous benefits to affected communities or other mustahiks. Zakat can guarantee the continuity of life in various aspects including maintaining life, property, religion, reason and of course zakat is the main object of maqashid sharia towards a prosperous society

This paper presents a review of NGOs working for rural poverty alleviation in Pakistan and current situation of Pakistan particularly in rural context. The research has been conducted using qualitative method. The findings of research show that condition of poor has not been much improved across the country particularly in rural areas of Pakistan. The study is of good value as there are number of controversies among different stakeholders including government regarding NGOs while NGOs claim total success in their work areas particularly rural areas. The study will suggest further research on testing such claims made by NGOs.

ABSTRACT            This article focuses on the modification of Malangese Mask Puppet, a traditional art that has been developed in Malang, East Java, for long time. This research aims to finds out changes in Malangese Mask Puppet in order to maintain the existence of the art in this era, by which popular culture dominated. The article is written to answer questions, first, how do modifications of Malangese Mask Puppet were done both in performance and crafting aspects, and second, how do the modifications influence the fuction of Malangese Mask Wayang. The research uses a qualitative method with interview, observation, and document analysis as data collection technique. The data analysis is conducted through triangulation technique. The results are that modification is conducted by simplifying and beautifying the form of some elements such as clothes, accessories, and the material of mask crafting. Meanwhile, the modification of ideas are implemented through the changing of some traditional patterns, such as shortening the duration of performance, creating the new rule to involve women and kids as an active artist of Malangese Mask Wayang. The modification of Malangese Mask Wayang influences the function and role of the art as a commodity or product.   Keywords: Modification, Malangese Mask Wayang, Asmoro Bangun Art Center ABSTRAK            Artikel ini membahas perubahan atau modifikasi pada kesenian tradisional Wayang Topeng Malangan yang telah lama berkembang di kota Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan yang terjadi pada Wayang Topeng Malangan yang dilakukan oleh seniman dalam mempertahankan kesenian tersebut pada masa sekarang, yang cenderung didominasi oleh budaya pop. Artikel ini ditulis untuk menjawab beberapa rumusan masalah, yaitu pertama, bagaimana modifikasi Wayang Topeng Malangan dilakukan pada unsur pertunjukan dan kerajinan topeng, dan kedua adalah bagaimana modifikasi tersebut memengaruhi peran dan fungsi kesenian Wayang Topeng Malangan saat ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumen sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi bentuk pertunjukan dan kerajinan topeng dilakukan dengan menyederhanakan dan mempercantik bentuk busana dan ragam hiasan, mengubah material dan proses pembuatan topeng. Sedangkan modifikasi gagasan terimplementasikan pada perubahan pakem (aturan tradisi), seperti mempersingkat waktu pergelaran dan memberikan aturan baru keterlibatan perempuan dalam kesenian Wayang Topeng Malangan.  Modifikasi bentuk pertunjukan dan kerajinan topeng serta gagasan berkaitan dengan Wayang Topeng Malangan memengaruhi peran dan fungsi Wayang Topeng Malangan, yang tidak sekedar sebagai seni, namun juga sebuah komoditas (produk). Kata Kunci: Modifikasi, Wayang Topeng Malangan, Padepokan Asmoro Bangun

Finding a cure when people get sick is an important thing. One of the efforts done by Kediri people in finding for a cure is to come to a Dukun (Shaman/traditional healer) Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan. The purposes of this research are to know the profiles and methods of Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan, and their role in curing diseases. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The results of this research show that (1) the process of healing and problem solution performed by Dukun Suwuk uses prayer as a key source of power. And Dukun Prewangan uses the help of supernatural beings who become their working partners to cure or resolve the problem, (2) Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan has an important role in society because of their presence is needed and respected. In addition, Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan who have been offering the services had experienced a lot of things as a living experience, (3) healing process performed by Dukun Suwuk and Dukun Prewangan is one solution for patients to be free from the ambiguous conditions of liminal stage. Choosing to go to a traditional healer healing is a rational choice for each patient.

This research aims to explain the empowerment and capacity of an actor in dangdut music industry. Specifically, it tries to explain the knowledge, involvement, capacity and empowerment of a female singer acting in carrying songs containing what is considered vulgar values or not. Using the social praxeology concept by Bourdieu, this research argues that female singers are dominating actors in terms of dangdut music industry’s growth, though their own positions are not always special, and often enough, at its rock bottom. The stereotype role of a women’s sex and objectification both on the paper or visually can impacts her in social culture system, the self-sexualization of a women actor creates an instruct representation in public. This study uses a qualitative method with data collecting that consists of interviews with 5 female singer actors within dangdut orchestran music industry Alta Musik Pugung

<p><em><span lang="ES">The understanding and empowerment of waqf assets among Muslims has undergone significant changes in both paradigm and operational practices. The development of productive waqf aims to achieve social justice and improve the welfare of people. Therefore, productive waqf has two visions at once, destroying unequal social structures and providing fertile land for the welfare of the people. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The data used were secondary data, namely, literature studies or relevant previous research results. The results of his research show that waqf plays an important role as an instrument to empower the economy of the people. Waqf has played an important role in the social, economic, and cultural development of society. There are at least four basic problems with the Islamic da'wah movement. First, the problem of poverty, both in terms of the economy and limited facilities and physical needs, creates a culture of poverty. Second, the twisting of the kemikinan prompts the symptoms of underdevelopment. Third, there was an exclusive and involutive attitude. Finally, the weakness of the institutions for accommodating participation and the weakness of the cooperation mechanism to wage a systematic struggle. Thus, waqf is an alternative that is expected to provide solutions to these problems. Therefore, the optimal management of waqf objects is required.</span></em></p>

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahuiperanan Aseuk Hatong dalam tradisi pertanian ladang di masyarakat Tatar Karang PrianganKabupaten Tasikmalaya yang religius Islami, tapi masih mempertahankan tradisi tersebut.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan studi fenomenologi Schutz. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa 1) Seni berkomunikasi: (kakawihan) dalam tradisi Aseuk Hatong adalah upayaharmonisasi antara petani dengan alam yang sedang kemarau melalui senandung ringan yangkontekstual. 2) Teknologi Tani: (Aseuk Hatong) adalah suatu alat untuk mengolah untuk tanahladang pada musim kemarau yang dibalut dengan estetika musikal sederhana khas petaniladang, hasil pengembangan teknologi yang tepat guna, menyenangkan, inovatif, fungsional,terjangkau, murah, dan ramah lingkungan. Dengan demikian, dapat dirumuskan bahwa TradisiAseuk Hatong di Tatar Karang Priangan merupakan media persuasif bertani di kala ngahuma(berladang) tidak dibarengi musim penghujan. Tradisi Aseuk Hatong juga merupakanpengembangan teknologi yang sangat memperhitungkan kearifan lokal yang berlaku.Kata kunci: aseuk hatong, kawih, komunikasi seni, teknologi tani, pertanian ladangABST RACTOur inability to deepen our own original knowledge results in disharmony of technologywith the needs in the field, including the Appropriate Technology (TTG) in agriculture. It istherefore that in any development it is often not harmonious with the needs of society. Theobjective of the research is to know the role of Aseuk Hatong in the agricultural tradition in theTatar Karang Priangan community of Tasikmalaya Regency whicht is religiously Islamic yetstill maintains the tradition. The research method is Schutz phenomenology study. The resultsof research show that (1) the art of communicating (kakawihan) in Aseuk Hatong tradition isa harmonious effort between farmers and the dry nature through mild, contextual humming.(2) Farm technology (Aseuk Hatong)is a tool to cultivate the soil, plowing the fields during thedry season by wrapping with simple typical musical aesthetics of field farmers as the resultsof appropriate technology development, fun, innovative, functional, affordable, cheap, andenvironmentally friendly. As the conclusion, it can be said that Aseuk Hatong Tradition in TatarKarang Priangan as a persuasive media farming during ngahuma (farming) not accompaniedby rainy season is a technology development that takes into account local wisdom occur.Keywords: aseuk hatong, kawih, art communication, farming technology

This research is intended to find out the role of the regional environmental impact Control Agency of Batam City against the environmental problems that occur in industrial areas namely, Batam city, concerning sustainable development based upon the environment, the activities of the industry now aims to build an economic sector but has a negative effect that is the pollution of the environment. In this case in Batam city frequent occurrence of environmental pollution caused by industrial activity namely with disposal of waste which are not in place. This research is focused on environmental impact Control Agency area of Batam city authorities in the control of the environment . With the outline of the research issues namely how environmental impact Control Agency the role of the Regions in the control of pollution of the environment against industrial activity in Batam city in 2011-2014 and the factors restricting the role of the regional environmental impact Control Agency in controlling environmental pollution in Batam city in 2011-2014.Type of this research is a descriptive i.e. researchers provide a description and overview of the phenomenon or social symptoms examined by independent variables described in a systematic and accurate. Method of data collection is done by means of interviews and the documentation.The results of this research show that the role of environmental impact Control Agency area of Batam city in pollution control against industrial activity carried out according to its function but have not run well in accordance with the goals and targets that have been set. This is not in accordance with the duties and functions of the regional environmental impact Control Agency of Batam city, resulting in less the maximum role of Bapedalda itself in controlling pollution that occurred in Batam city. So it should be should be able to stake Bapedalda holder which is professional in the discharge of pollution control and must be capable of tackling the obstacles faced.
