Revision of the National Mediator Accreditation System, effective from 1 July 2015, removes the requirement for mediators to demonstrate understanding of neutrality as an ethical competency. The principle of impartiality has been retained and the principle of self-determination has been newly included as an ethical competency. The self-determination of participants, recognised in the original version of the NMAS, has been more clearly articulated as the aim of mediation practice. Abandonment of the principle of neutrality signals a need to reconsider the role of the mediator, which was once identified with control of the process of mediation, though neutral as to its content and outcome. Abandonment of neutrality calls for an alternative frame of reference for ethical practice in mediation. In this paper, the relationship of trust between mediator and parties is proposed as a suitable and defensible alternative ethical framework. It is argued that this relationship can be constructed according to principles associated with fiduciary and therapeutic relationships, in recognition of the distinctive socio-legal context of practice. Abandonment of neutrality also raises issues as to the mediator’s role in achieving fairness for participants. It is argued that relationships of trust provide a convincing framework within which to consider issues of substantive fairness in mediation.

Objectives. Studying the relationship of autonomy and attachment in relationships with parents with real self-determination in students. Background. The growing world globalization, intercultural contradictions, confrontation within society seriously complicate the path of self-determination of modern youth. At the same time, due to technical progress and digitalization of the communication and education environment, there are significant transformations in the interaction of people in almost all spheres, including in the family. Therefore, the question of studying the most important aspects in the relationship of young people with their parents for real self-determination is especially acute. Study design. The work studied the indicators of real self-determination, attachment to parents and autonomy among students. The presence of a relationship between these parameters was established by calculating the Spearman correlation coefficient. Participants. 60 college students aged 18 to 21. Measurements. Methodology “Scale of adult attachment for close relationships”; autonomy questionnaire (authors O.A. Karabanova and N.N. Poskrebysheva); questionnaire “ORS” (author D.A. Krasilo). Results. An inverse relationship of indicators of real self-determination of students with the level of intimacy and the level of anxiety (scales of attachment to parents) was established. A direct relationship was revealed between the indicators of real self-determination and the level of autonomy. Conclusions. Proximity and anxiety (components of attachment) have a significant inverse relationship with the level of real self-determination in students. There are no significant connections between reliability (a component of attachment) and real self-determination in the sample under study. Emotional autonomy, cognitive autonomy, behavioral autonomy, and value autonomy have significant positive correlations with the level of real self-determination in students.

This study aims to determine the relationship of the role of fathers with self-determination, the relationship of peer social support with self-determination, and the relationship between the role of fathers and peer social support with self-determination in adolescent drug addicts. The population in this study were adolescent drug addicts in Medan Plus Addiction Recovery Clinic. A sample of 54 teenagers were taken by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a scale of self-determination, the scale of the role of fathers and the scale of peer social support. The results of multiple regression analysis showed a Freg value of 11,071 with p = 0,000 (p 0,005), which indicated that there was a significant relationship between self-determination and the role of fathers with peer social support. Partially, there is a relationship between self-determination with the role of father rxy = 0.543 with p 0.01, and there is a relationship between social support of peers with self-determination rxy = 0.384 with p 0.01. R2 value of 0.303 means the role of fathers and social support of peers together make an effective contribution of 30.3% of self-determination.

The relationship of citizenship and human rights has become a central issue for contemporary politics. This chapter begins with a brief overview of theories of human rights, before addressing two pivotal topics for this relationship: a human right to citizenship (as membership of a state) and a human right to democracy. It then turns to consider the practical salience of the international human rights regime for citizenship and human rights, before concluding with a discussion of the relationship of human rights as cosmopolitan norms to the principle of the self-determination of peoples.

The article deals with the doctrine of Marius Victorinus (ca. 281/291‒382/386) on the Divine thinking or intellection, and provides a reconstruction of its possible philosophical sources. In the beginning the author after a breaf mentioning of Aristotle’s noetic theory in his “Metaphysica” emphasizes an important role of the neoplatonic doctrine of the “intelligible triad” in the Trinitarian doctrine of Victorinus, in which God is seen as the unity of the three Divine attributes, potencies or acts: being, life and thought, which correspond to the persons of the Christian Trinity. It is noted that the relationship between these Divine acts has a dynamic character, based on the logic of the eternal process of self-determination of God as the pure Being (Father), which defines himself as the Life (Son) and returns to himself as the Intellect (Holy Spirit), by which the fullness of Divine self-knowledge is achieved. This process Victorinus also connects with the idea of God as an absolute Spirit –a Substance that exists, lives and thinks of itself. Further the author consideres Victorinus’ concept of two actions and movements in God: one is internal, characterizing God the Father, the other is external, characterizing the Son-Logos. It has been argued that this doctrine goes back to the similar doctrine of Plotinus, which he applies to the One and the Intellect. It is noted that Victorinus in the light of the Neo-Platonic dialectics of the One and the Intellect reconsidered an Aristotelian theory of Divine intellect, which thinks of itself. He not only applies it to the Son-Logos, but also joins to it a Plotinian-Porphyrian conception of the “super-thinking” of the One, as a result of which Divine thinking according to Victorinus has two different forms: an internal, potential, hidden and unmanifest thinking (or “super-thinking”) of God the Father, and an external, actual and manifested thinking (or “self-thinking”) of the Son-Logos; the latter initially dwells in the internal thinking of the Father, and then was genereted from it as a Divine thinking that thinks both of the Father and of itself, becoming self-knowledge or self-thinking.

The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study of the interrelationships of the meaning-life and value orientations of the individual entrepreneurs and the indicators of their economic self-determination. The results of the correlation analysis showed the presence of multiple statistically significant relationships between the meaning-of-life orientations of entrepreneurs and indicators of their economic self-determination. The scales "Life process or interest and emotional saturation of life" and "Locus of control - life or manageability of life" found the greatest number of correlations with indicators of economic self-determination. The high importance values, the United Schwartz block "openness to change" (self-direction and stimulation) and "self-exaltation (power and achievement) combined with high significance values "hedonism", which, according to Schwartz, is a separate unit, and includes elements of both openness to change and self-exaltation, is positively correlated with indicators of economic self-determination, characterized by positive assessments of their business activity and the dynamics of its changes, the relationship of competition and risk, their own opportunities to increase the success of their business and the success of their business activities. The results of the study confirm the validity of considering the meaning of life and value orientations of the individual as factors of self-determination of entrepreneurs.

Previous studies on the relationship of barberry (Berberis spp.) and wheat stem rust suggested that, although some barberry species can serve as alternate hosts for the stem rust fungus Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici, barberry plants play no role in wheat stem rust development and virulence variation of P. graminis f. sp. tritici in China. In the present study, severe rust infections on Berberis shensiana, B. brachypoda, B. potaninii, B. soulieana, and B. aggregata were observed during field surveys in 2011 and 2012. Through artificial inoculation of wheat seedlings (‘Mingxian 169’) under greenhouse conditions with aeciospores from naturally infected barberry plants, 185 isolates of P. graminis f. sp. tritici were obtained. From the 27 selected isolates that were tested on a set of wheat genotypes used to differentiate P. graminis f. sp. tritici races in China, 18 races were identified, of which 8 races were new and others were of Chinese 21 and 34 race groups. In addition to the information of virulence or avirulence patterns on the Chinese differentials, none of the races were virulent to resistance gene Sr31. The virulence frequencies based on individual Sr genes or differentials ranged from 0 to 96%. Using molecular markers for P. graminis f. sp. tritici, 75 of 4,036 samples of single aecia were identified as P. graminis f. sp. tritici. The low detectable rate of P. graminis f. sp. tritici was verified based on both infection and molecular marker tests. This observation may be correlated with the low levels of wheat stem rust in the surveyed regions. This study shows that P. graminis f. sp. tritici can produce new races through sexual reproduction on Berberis spp. in China.

The scientific problem of economics “Managing the quality of human life” is formulated on the basis of artificial intelligence, algebra of logic and logical-probabilistic calculus. Managing the quality of human life is represented by managing the processes of his treatment, training and decision making. Events in these processes and the corresponding logical variables relate to the behavior of a person, other persons and infrastructure. The processes of the quality of human life are modeled, analyzed and managed with the participation of the person himself. Scenarios and structural, logical and probabilistic models of managing the quality of human life are given. Special software for quality management is described. The relationship of human quality of life and the digital economy is examined. We consider the role of public opinion in the management of the “bottom” based on the synthesis of many studies on the management of the economics and the state. The bottom management is also feedback from the top management.

This essay examines a polemic between two Baudelaire critics of the 1930s, Jean Cassou and Benjamin Fondane, which centered on the relationship of poetry to progressive politics and metaphysics. I argue that a return to Baudelaire's poetry can yield insight into what seems like an impasse in Cassou and Fondane. Baudelaire provides the possibility of realigning metaphysics and politics so that poetry has the potential to become the space in which we can begin to think the two of them together, as opposed to seeing them in unresolvable tension. Or rather, the tension that Baudelaire animates between the two allows us a new way of thinking about the role of esthetics in moments of political crisis. We can in some ways see Baudelaire as responding, avant la lettre, to two of his early twentieth-century readers who correctly perceived his work as the space that breathes a new urgency into the questions of how modern poetry relates to the world from which it springs and in which it intervenes.

Vertical axis wind turbine technology has been applied last years, very long after horizontal axis wind turbine technology. Aerodynamic problems of vertical axis wind machines are discussible. An important problem is the determination of the incidence law in the interaction between wind and rotor blades. The focus of the work is to establish equations of the incidence depending on the blade azimuth, and to solve them. From these results, aerodynamic torques and power can be calculated. The incidence angle is a parameter of velocity triangle, and both the factors depend not only on the blade azimuth but also on the ratio of rotational speed and horizontal speed. The built computational program allows theoretically selecting the relationship of geometric parameters of wind turbine in accordance with requirements on power, wind speed and installation conditions.

Abstract This four-part series of papers addresses the problem of systematic determination of the influence of several tire factors on tire treadwear. Both the main effect of each factor and some of their interactive effects are included. The program was also structured to evaluate the influence of some external-to-tire conditions on the relationship of tire factors to treadwear. Part I describes the experimental design used to evaluate the effects on treadwear of generic tire type, aspect ratio, tread pattern (groove or void level), type of pattern (straight rib or block), and tread compound. Construction procedures and precautions used to obtain a valid and functional test method are included. Two guiding principles to be used in the data analyses of Parts II and III are discussed. These are the fractional groove and void concept, to characterize tread pattern geometry, and a demonstration of the equivalence of wear rate for identical compounds on whole tread or multi-section tread tires.
