scholarly journals WIRELESS CHARGING TROLLEY WITH VEHICLE-PILE COLLABORATION

Most of the built carts will use a combination of lithium batteries, but the types of lithium battery connectors are cumbersome and their charging time is too long. In this project, a Faraday capacitor is used instead of the car's power source to store power in a wireless charging mode, by providing DC power to the transmitter coil along the road to induce a certain voltage to the secondary coil carried by the car to achieve the effect of storing power for the Faraday capacitor. A camera module openmv in the centre of the track captures images and uses a target detection algorithm to intelligently identify the position of the car to control the activation and deactivation of the coils to improve efficiency.

An autonomous coil alignment system (ACAS) using fuzzy steering control is proposed for vehicles with dynamic wireless charging. The misalignment between the power receiver coil and power transmitter coil is determined based on the voltage difference between two coils installed on the front-left/front-right of the power receiver coil and is corrected through autonomous steering using fuzzy control. The fuzzy control is chosen over other control methods for implementation in ACAS due to the nonlinear characteristic between voltage difference and lateral misalignment distance, as well as the imprecise and constantly varying voltage readings from sensors. The operational validity and feasibility of the ACAS are verified through simulation, where the vehicle equipped with ACAS is able to align with the power transmitter in the road majority of the time during operation, which also implies achieving better wireless power delivery.

As the population grows, people will consume more natural resources. This issue will lead to a low petrol supply for all land transportation, especially supplies for car consumption. Therefore, the electric vehicle (EV) has been introduced to overcome this issue. Currently, wired charging of EVs has been implemented in most of the developed country, including Malaysia. However, some drawbacks have been found from this technology. Therefore, wireless charging comes into the picture to solve this issue. Charging pad on the road and at the car are required for both wired and wireless charging. Various designs of charging pad are available. However, this paper will only focus on the circular design. There is many software that can be used to design the coil pad. Each software has a different procedure and steps to design the coil pad. In this paper, JMAG Designer software will be used to design the circular coil pad. Then, three coil pair were simulated using JMAG Designer to investigate the magnetic flux density between primary and secondary coil when varying the misalignment of 0 cm, 4 cm and 8 cm. From the simulation, there is no specific trend in the relationship between magnetic flux density and misalignment.

As an important part of the smart grid, Electric Vehicles (EVs) could be a good measure against energy shortages and environmental pollutions. In this paper, based on the relevant EVs development policy, the private EVs charging load is investigated. Based on statistical data, the Monte Carlo method is applied to determine the one-trip driven distance for the private EV. And by analyzing the EVs driving habit and the charging characteristics of EVs battery, we derive the initial state-of-charge (SOC) of charging, charging power and initial charging time. As a result, a more accurate mathematical model of computing the charging load used by private EVs is proposed. Furthermore, the EVs charging loads in 2015 and 2020 are computed and compared in plug-in charging and wireless charging mode. The results of simulation show that the daily load peak of private EVs charging caused by wireless charging mode is significantly lower than that of plug-in charging mode. And the charging load of large-scale EVs would have significant impacts on the planning and operation of power grid. It is very important to predict and analyze the EVs charging load for the construction and scheduling of the smart grid in the future.

In recent years, portable electronic devices have flourished, and the safety of lithium batteries has received increasing attention. In this study, nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning using different ratios of nylon 66/polyacrylonitrile (PAN), and their properties were studied and compared with commercial PP separators. The experimental results show that the addition of PAN in nylon 66/PAN nanofibrous film used as separator of lithium-ion battery can enhance the porosity up to 85%. There is also no significant shrinkage in the shrinkage test, and the thermal dimensional stability is good. When the Li/LiFePO4 lithium battery is prepared by nylon 66/PAN nanofibrous film used as separator, the capacitor can be maintained at 140 mAhg−1 after 20 cycles at 0.1 C, and the coulombic efficiency is still maintained at 99%, which has excellent electrochemical performance.

FPGA and ASIC implementation of the algorithm for traffic monitoring in urban areas This paper describes the idea and the implementation of the image detection algorithm, that can be used in integrated sensor networks for environment and traffic monitoring in urban areas. The algorithm is dedicated to the extraction of moving vehicles from real-time camera images for the evaluation of traffic parameters, such as the number of vehicles, their direction of movement and their approximate speed. The authors, apart from the careful selection of particular steps of the algorithm towards hardware implementation, also proposed novel improvements, resulting in increasing the robustness and the efficiency. A single, stationary, monochrome camera is used, simple shadow and highlight elimination is performed. The occlusions are not taken into account, due to placing the camera at a location high above the road. The algorithm is designed and implemented in pipelined hardware, therefore high frame-rate efficiency has been achieved. The algorithm has been implemented and tested in FPGA and ASIC.

Lithium battery has been employed widely in many industrial applications. Parameter mismatches between lithium batteries along a series string is the critical limits of the large-scale applications in high power situation. Maintaining equalization between batteries is the key technique in lithium batteries application. This paper summarizes normal equalization techniques and proposed a new type of lithium Battery Equalization and Management System (BEMS) employing the isolated DC-DC converter structure. The system is integrated both equalization functions and management functions by using distributed 3-level controlled structure and digital control technique. With this control method the flexibility of the balance control strategy and the compatibility for different battery strings are both improved dramatically. The experimental results show optimizing equalization, efficiency and the battery string life span has been extended.

AbstractConsiderable efforts are in progress to develop rechargeable batteries as alternative systems to the nickel-cadmium battery. In this regard, several advances have been made in ambient-temperature lithium battery technology, and specifically in the engineering of rechargeable lithium/manganese dioxide cells. This paper reviews the current state of the art in rechargeable Li/MnO2battery technology; particular attention is paid to the structural features of various MnO2electrode materials which influence their electrochemical and cycling behaviour in lithium cells.

Automatic detection of pavement cracks is one of the very hot topics. For the characteristics of “small data, poor information” in the surface image processing, we construct ed a grey image relational model to characterize the local image edge feature, by selecting the appropriate threshold to extract the edge of appropriate level. Finally, simulation experiments show that the new algorithm can effectively improve the road edge detection results, and it is an effective good method worthy further study.

Based on the target detection of alignment template, the paper designs a lane alignment template by using correlation matching method, and combines with genetic algorithm for template stochastic matching and optimization to realize the lane detection. In order to solve the real-time problem of lane detection algorithm based on genetic algorithm, this paper uses the high performance multi-core DSP chip TMS320C6474 as the core, combines with high-speed data transmission technology of Rapid10, realizes the hardware parallel processing of the lane detection algorithm. By Rapid10 bus, the data transmission speed between the DSP and the DSP can reach 3.125Gbps, it basically realizes transmission without delay, and thereby solves the high speed transmission of the large data quantity between processor. The experimental results show that, no matter the calculated lane line, or the running time is better than the single DSP and PC at the parallel C6474 platform. In addition, the road detection is accurate and reliable, and it has good robustness.
