Organizational and graphical elements from 30 ministry websites from Egypt, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia were examined using content analysis method. The results suggest that Hofstede’s model of culture does not fully reflect the design characteristics of these interfaces.Cette étude examine un ensemble de caractéristiques dans la conception d’interfaces Web de trois pays arabes, à l’aide des dimensions culturelles d’Hofstede. This study examines the design characteristics of Web interfaces from Arab countries using Hofstede’s cultural dimensions. Organizational and graphical elements on a sample of 15 home pages of government Web portals are examined using content analysis. Element frequency scores were correlated with Hofstede’s dimensions and interpreted based on Marcus and Gould’s (2000) study. The results suggest that Hofstede’s model of culture does not fully reflect the design characteristics of Arabic interfaces. The environmental problem, defined as "global warming" in recent years, has developed as a result of human activities. This problem affects humanity with its economic, social and cultural dimensions as well as many other living species. Policies are being developed at national and international levels to cope with this problem and various opinions and practices are put forward. However, studies show that individuals have misconceptions about this issue. For this purpose, this study aims to understand the perceptions of 87 participants, 65 women and 22 men living in the TRNC, about global warming through a "metaphor analysis". The study was conducted using a qualitative phenomenology design. The data obtained were evaluated by content analysis method. Semi-structured forms were distributed for data collection. The first part of the form is based on demographic information, and the second part is to determine the perceptions of the participants about global warming. The analyzed metaphors were gathered under 13 different conceptual categories. Since this study does not consist of an equal number of male and female participants, gender differences should not be taken into account in the findings. Keywords: Global warming, environmental management, metaphor analysis, environmental education

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the largest Arab countries with a moderate annual problem of tuberculosis that is either pulmonary or extra-pulmonary. TB is still one of the most significant health troubles in the KSA, affecting different nationalities (Saudis, non-Saudis), ages, provinces, and genders. The control of TB still faces some challenges in different provinces of the KSA. Data were collected, arranged, analyzed and presented in tables and figures. In this retrospective study, we appraised TB surveillance data for the period between 2013 (1434H) and 2018 (1439H). Data were handled using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 23. Data were checked for normality using Shapiro-Wilk normality test at 0.05 levels to determine whether they are parametric or nonparametric. Chi-squared, Kruskal Wallis, and analysis of variance tests were used to evaluate trends at a significance level of p< 0.05. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM-SPSS version 23 for Mac OS. We appraised TB surveillance data for the period between 2013 (1434H) and 2018 (1439H). The data included the region of the country (province), age, sex, and nationality (Saudis, non-Saudis). The study evaluated the impact of TB on various nationalities (Saudis and non-Saudis), age groups (0-14, 15-34, 35-55, more than 55 years old), and genders (males and females). Non-Saudis had a higher incidence rate than Saudis in 2013-2018. The number of cases and incidence rates of TB recorded in males between 2013 to 2018 were about two to three times greater than estimates for females. The Makkah, Riyadh, and Jeddah regions attract enormous numbers of non-Saudi migrant workers, who account for ~60% of all TB cases in the KSA. Assessing the main TB risk factors contributing to high TB rates in non-Saudi workers is essential. Furthermore, periodical accurate studies, including evidence-based studies for optimum surveillance, avoidance, spread risk, inspection, control procedures and treatment of TB, should be conducted. These assessments would lead to evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of KSA-NTP’s TB action plan.

This paper examines the influence of capitalism and globalisation on the role of Shariah-Compliant Investment Funds (SCIFs) in promoting social justice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) using content analysis method. This is to analyse the Terms and Conditions (T&C) of SCIFs as they appear in Tadawul (Saudi stock market) in 2019 and compared with the findings in 2013. This research critically evaluates the findings of the content analysis through aspects of globalization and insights from the literature review. The content analysis shows that SCIFs in KSA are disjointed and decoupled from Islamic principles and do not fulfil the ideal social justice role in society.

This quasi-experimental, longitudinal, quantitative study investigated the impact of Extensive Reading (ER) on developing second language (L2) reading comprehension and writing skills among primary school EFL learners in two Arab countries, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The study is based on an experiment conducted over a nine-month period on a convenience sample of 112 primary school students (n=112) divided into five groups, three experimental groups and two control group, where the students belonged to two different private schools in Egypt and two different international schools in two cities in Saudi Arabia. The experiment, in the form of an enrichment ER program, used graded readers for young learners and was designed to foster ER for pleasure. The study, guided by three hypotheses, incorporated two types of statistical analysis tests, paired samples t-tests and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The statistical analysis tests performed indicated marked improvement in English proficiency in the two experimental groups, with particular reference to reading comprehension and writing. A number of pedagogical implications and recommendations for future research are given. Additionally, the study highlights the issue related to insufficient exposure to English for young Arab EFL learners in their daily lives, which, unfortunately, seems to cause relapses in their L2 intake, despite having an age advantage.

This paper examined the impact of restructuring macroeconomic policy for sustainable development in Nigeria. The paper examines the various efforts aimed at restructuring macroeconomics policy in Nigeria. These efforts were captured in the SAP of 1986, NEEDS of 2004, the Transformation Agenda of 2011 and the ERGP of 2016. The paper adopted content analysis method of qualitative research given the peculiarity of the subject matter. There were documented evidence that during the aforementioned periods, the economy showed signs of growth and development. Despite the gains of the reforms, Nigeria is still grappling with economic growth and development issues-unemployment, poverty and rising cost of living. This paper however recommends that there should be continuity in programmes and policies of government. Programmes and policies should not change with regime change. There should be a deliberate and conscious effort on the part of government and policy makers to design programmes and policies that are people oriented, home grown and have the capacity to promote and sustainable growth and development.

This article purports to examine how the expectations of the educational reforms in Moroccan higher education have impacted the teaching and testing of tertiary level grammar. In particular, the hypothesis we defend here is that teaching and testing tertiary level grammar remain constant; therefore, the impact of the various reforms on tertiary level testing is of little consequence. In pursuance of this aim, this paper uses a qualitative approach and content analysis method of the course descriptions of the grammar courses that were suggested across the various reforms. The course descriptions we attempt to analyze are adopted in the English Studies tracks of four major departments in Moroccan universities. The main dimensions that we look at and examine here as the measures for our comparative evaluation are; course objectives, time allotted, the syllabi they contain, teaching methodology, and evaluation modes. The findings confirm that the various reforms, have had little impact on the teaching and testing of grammar in higher education. The paper concludes by suggesting a few pedagogical recommendations vis-à-vis the teaching and testing of grammar in Moroccan Departments of English studies.
