Ten years have passed and there has been no result of an empowerment program for remote indigenous Akit tribal communities in Riau. The Akit tribe is an ancient native Malay tribe (Proto Melayu) in Riau Province. These indigenous people are still less fortunate in terms of health and social. This study investigates the root causes of health inequalities in the Akit community to get a complete picture of the problem. By using a qualitative approach and case study methods, this research is conducted by means of in-depth interviews, observation, and literature study. The results of the study show that the root cause of failed empowerment is a lack of synergy between government agencies, in which each agency had its own program, thus it poses disadvantages to the society where there are still illiterate sufferers, people who are heavily dependent on the underdeveloped environment that make them ill, and cultural institutions that are not feasible and binding to the social system that prevents people from developing.

Gender-based stereotypes have hampered gender equality in the workplace opportunities, and females face identity crises and labeling by their coworkers, which mitigates their chances to climb on the ladder of Leadership. This study strived to explore female coworkers' perceived identity and the transformation in that perception when those females become leaders and the role of stereotypical thinking in it. With the qualitative approach, this study used case study methods. This research collects the data through nineteen in-depth interviews from private companies, and a framework developed using thematic analysis. The results revealed that employees positively perceive their female coworkers, but they are perceived with stereotypes and negativity when they become their leaders. Da’wa communication skills are needed in preaching to the converts community because the conditions of converts are different from those of Muslims in general. The success of this da’wa can be achieved if converts as the target of preaching carry out the da’wa message conveyed by the preacher. The research objective was to map the preachers' da’wa communication skills to the converts in Karomba, Pinrang district. This study used a qualitative approach and case study methods, so the primary data were in-depth interviews and observations. In addition, this study uses inductive data analysis. The study results indicate that the preachers apply three da’wa communication skills to the converted Muslim community to support da’wa's success. First, the skills to produce messages, especially messages of faith and morals. Second, the skills to receive and convey messages, mainly using local languages. Third, the skills to interact with the converts community through sharia consultation activities. This research is necessary because the findings of this study can serve as a guide for preachers to increase preaching success, especially preaching to converts.

The Jakarta Bay reclamation policy is an issue that is currently a public debate. This debate is strengthened by environmental issues, the marginalization of certain groups, the regulation of authority and also corruption in the Jakarta Bay Reclamation project. Some central and provincial government institutions take different stances on the issue. The first objective of this research is to analyse environmental policy in reclamation of Jakarta Bay with the approach of political ecology. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data were obtained from in-depth interviews with stakeholders involved in the policy making of the Jakarta Bay reclamation environment and the literature study. This study concludes that the Jakarta Bay reclamation policy creates a conflict between the central and provincial governments. This is due to the overlapping regulation of Jakarta Bay reclamation authority as well as differences in attitude and interests among stakeholders. In the approach of political ecology, the Jakarta Bay reclamation policy has failed to accommodate the three interests, are social, economic and environmental interests. The conflicts that occur also cause an omission that not only harms the economy, but worsens the social and economic impact.
