The five-part relief series The Development of the Human Soul (c.1887–1903) by the Finnish sculptor Sigrid af Forselles is a monumental work consisting of five large plaster reliefs. The artist’s esoteric interests have been noted in previous research, but their impact on her art has not been properly analysed. The first part of the relief series, which has for its subject a theme from Scandinavian mythology, belongs to the collections of the Finnish National Gallery, while the other parts, with seemingly Christian content, are situated in the Kallio Church in Helsinki. The separation of the parts and the apparent inconsistency in the thematic structure of the series has caused confusion among those who have attempted to interpret it as a whole, although occasionally a possible Ttheosophical inspiration has been suggested. This article presents the first attempt at a more profound, esoteric interpretation of the series, arguing that its main theme is a spiritual evolution that attaches itself to the idea of progress and liberation through art. The narrative evolves from materiality and physical strength towards spirituality and immateriality.

The motif of death in teaching literatureThis paper includes a survey of the affective and cognitive limitations in the students’ perception of the motif of death, particularly when it appears as the main theme in literary works analyzed in class. The author explores the frequency of such texts in the curriculum and provides specific psychological-pedagogical findings, which should be considered and applied. Furthermore, the paper contains certain methodological solutions applicable in some stages of interpretation that refer to the analysis of the motif of death. The solutions, on the one hand, take into consideration the values and the significance of the work itself, and on the other hand, the age of students and their individual characteristics such as personality, sensibility, the experience of the death of their loved ones or its lack. The insights and suggestions are related to the results of an online questionnaire conducted among teachers of literature about their approach to the motif of death in teaching, which is presented in this paper.

The main theme of the paper is the Concept of Military Leadership in the Slovenian Armed Forces, which currently represents the highest substantive and guiding normative act in the field of military leadership in the Slovenian Armed Forces (hereinafter referred to as the SAF). Due to the enormous importance of this field in working with people and the aim of influencing the change of the concept, the paper analysed and compared the concepts of military leadership in other selected armed forces and looked for similarities and divergences, especially in two segments - substantive and normative. On the one hand, we have shown the substantive obsolescence and inadequate normative rank of the Concept of Military Leadership in the Slovenian Armed Forces and, on the other hand, the necessity of substantive updating with concrete proposals and arguments for the development of the Doctrine of Military Leadership in the SAF. Key words Leadership, armed forces, Concept of Military Leadership in the SAF

Children short stories are one way among other literature studies to educate children about moral values and social life around them. In order to be able to socialize with other people, one of the important moral values that an individual must have is ethics. Most of children short stories, both classical and contemporary, are trying to present ethics as the main theme. This paper explores the way ethics is being conveyed in classical and contemporary children short stories. This paper uses Narrative Inquiry of Qualitative Method. This method is used to explore the background of the stories and authors with diverse culture as it is shown through the stories. There are 6 children short stories being analyzed. Three stories are classical, and the other three are contemporary. This paper also shows the results of comparison of ethic in classical and contemporary children short stories.

The relationship between John Locke and Isaac Newton, his co-founder of, in the apt phrase of one recent writer, ‘the Moderate Enlightenment’ of the eighteenth century, has many dimensions. There is their friendship, which began only after each had written his major work, and which had its stormy interlude. There is the difficult question of their mutual impact. In what ways did each draw intellectually on the other? That there was some debt of each to the other is almost certain, but its exact extent is problematic. Questions may be asked over a whole range of intellectual issues, but not always answered. Thus their theology, which was in many respects close, and which forms the bulk of their surviving correspondence, may yet reveal mutual influence. There is the question of their political views, where both were firmly Whig. But it is upon their philosophy, and certain aspects of their philosophy in particular, that this paper will concentrate. My main theme is the nature of their empiricism, and my main contention is that between them they produced a powerful and comprehensive philosophy.

ABSTRACTThe study reported in this paper is part of the Umeå 85+ project in Sweden. The aim was to investigate gender perspectives among ‘the oldest old’, by asking men and women in advanced old age living in a sparsely populated area of northern Sweden to reflect on how life might have been if they had been born the other sex. Thematic narratives from nine men and seven women were analysed using qualitative content analysis. The content of these narratives was resolved into eight categories in two domains, respectively men's and women's reflections about being born the opposite sex. The narratives of both the men and women indicated that they were satisfied with their actual birth sex. The men were aware that if they had been born female, they would probably have experienced more hard work and had a more restricted life, and they were conscious of both women's relative powerlessness and their greater ability to manage and organise work within the home. The women's narratives described a femininity characterised by longing for a state of being unconcerned when young, and their narratives also displayed awareness of women's physical strength and that men's lives had also been hard.

This article talk about maqāṣid al-Qur’ān on exegesis worked by Syaikh Ihsan Jampes, aspecially toward some verses at book of Sirāj aṭ-Ṭālibῑn vol. II. For that, there are three question should be answer; about the type of Quranic-exegesis, the operational process of Maqasid Alquran, and finally the main theme of Maqasid Alquran on the book of Sirāj aṭ-Ṭālibῑn vol. II. So, by using study of  library-research and descriptive-analysis writing, otomatically the researcher make those verses as object of material and the book as primary-object soon the other books as secondary, such as book of  Jawāhir al-Qur’ān worked by al-Ghazali. The results of this research are; firstly, the book of  Sirāj al-Ṭālibῑn use type of tafsir isyari just to explain the majority exegesis of those verses within. Secondly, by modelling of maqāṣid al-Qur’ān arranged by al-Ghazali, the researcher find at least 80 main-verses on the book of Sirāj al-Ṭālibῑn, which is talking about knowing of Allah and the prophectic-wisdom are more dominate themes than about life of mankind. Thirdly, the implication of those, there are two big groups of  maqāṣid following maqāṣid al-Qur’ān of al-Ghazali; monotheism-escatology, and wellnes during other themes such as morality, wisdom, islamology, and properiousity of mankind. Four of these big themes bring to some understanding that the main maqāṣid al-Qur’ān on the book of Sirāj aṭ-Ṭālibῑn is the wellness (kemaslahatan) on the world and hereafter for all mankind.

The paper examines Hildegard's use of metaphors in her visions of the human fall, and the way she combined the biblical motif of Original Sin with the philosophical question of a soul's embodiment, particularly in her moral play, Ordo virtutum, but also in her medical and visionary writings. The metaphor of the cloud sometimes blends with the metaphor of clothing (as in, "to clothe"), since the corporeal vestment of the soul before the Fall is said to resemble a cloud of light. Both metaphors are present in Hildegard's other works, particularly the image of the cloud, which is frequently used to illustrate cosmological implications of Original Sin. The metaphor of clothing, on the other hand, reveals parallels with certain Christian Gnostic revelations, blended with the Neo-Platonic doctrine of the soul as enslaved to the body.

ABSTRACT Talking about the concept of morals, is something that can not be ignored just so much more to provide enlightenment for the students or educators in the field of moral education in particular. The figure of Ibn Miskawayh (his famous name) is one of the most important classical Muslim thinkers in the field of morals. He contributes greatly in drawing concrete formulations about the human soul or more precisely about the faculties of the human soul that help humans develop their moral potential. He examines morality very detailed, both on the theoretical and practical level, so that the concept is more of a rational ethic or ethical philosophy. This paper on the one hand wants to clarify the concept of moral education according to Ibn Miskawayh in his essay Tahzîb al-Akhlāq, on the other hand wants to clarify his life journey and the background of the writing of Tahzîb al-Akhlāq.Keywords: Moral education, Ibnu Miskawaih, Tahzîb al-Akhlāq
