The objective of the study was to know the effects of interaction between formative assessment frequency and learning independence toward Calculus learning outcomes with controlling university students’ prior capacity. Research using experimental methods with 2 x 2 treatment by level design, and can be concluded from the finding, that with controlling university students’ prior capacity:  (1) the  group with high learning independence and was given  formative assessment  each subject matter got lower score on calculus learning outcomes than the group was given conventional formative assessment, (2) the group with low learning independence and was given formative assessment  each subject matter got higher score calculus learning outcomes than the group was given conventional formative assessment, (3) the group was given formative assessment each subject matter and have high learning independence got lower score calculus learning outcomes than the have low learning independence, and (4) the group was given conventional formative assessment and have high learning independence got higher score calculus learning outcomes than the low learning independence. The result showed that there was  interaction between formative assessment frequency and and learning independence toward Calculus learning outcomes with controlling university students’ prior capacity. To improve  the quality of Calculus learning outcomes, the lecturers were supposed to evaluate the university stuents’ using formative assessment variously. It must be matched with level of the learning independence of university students’.

In this paper the behaviors and tendencies in the use of digital technologies by university students are analyzed. After a short discussion of former studies and the presentation of the model for digital literacy structure and assessment in students attending compulsory school, the investigation carried out by the authors is described and the results obtained from the analysis of the university students’ answers is reported. The survey was submitted to 331 students in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Cassino, Italy, and the students’ answers show a contradictory reality: on one side, digital technologies are mainly used to communicate in social networks or to play music and movies, on another side it is evident the students’ interest for the most recent aspects of the application of digital technology and for the improvement in the quality of their use.

The paper tries to find the relationship between quality of life and studying motivation and figure out the presupposition of studying motivation through the quality of life. The relevant descriptive method was adopted in the study. The population of the study is made up of (3466) students. The sample of the study for the first setting was of (465) students, the second setting was of (550) male and female students, they are selected in a random clustered way.  For collecting information, the researchers used two measures: the quality of life is taken and the measures of studying motivation is constructed, the results turned out that the quality of life of students is at an acceptable level. For constructing the measures of studying motivation, the analysis of principles of used dimensions, divided the measurement into three dimensions, it turned out that the studying motivation is at an acceptable level. There are statistical positive evidences for the relation between quality of life and studying motivation. This study focuses on the manifestation of speaking anxiety and the coping mechanism that used by the second semester of university students. Young (1991) claimed that anxiety may affect the quality of an individual’s communication or willingness to communicate. Students with anxiety show a passive attitude in their studies such as low motivation in learning and poor in performances and examination. Thus, this study used a descriptive qualitative approach, the data collection was carried out through observation and interview adopted from (Hadziosmanovic, 2012). There were 6 students who are belong to different levels of anxiety participated in this study. The result showed that students experienced hearth racing, dry throat and mouth, muscle twisted, trembling hands, embarrassed, and nervous feeling which belong to physiological manifestation, 3 students experienced lost the words and could not find the right vocabularies in English that leads to switched the language use which belong to linguistic manifestation. In coping mechanism, reminiscence, relearning, and remediation were used by the students. However, only 2 students learn to re-experiencing their previous experiences for the successful performances.  Future researches may considered the anxiety manifestation and its coping mechanism in online learning.

AbstractUniversity students spend most of their time in a sitting position. Prolonged sitting on ill-fitted furniture and the resulting lousy posture is making students having different musculoskeletal disorders and is strictly related to students learning outcomes. This study aims to improve postural comfort of chairs placed inside the Science & Technology Library at the University of Salerno. A previous study about these library chairs showed that the lumbar area was the most suffering part while perceived (dis)comfort was dependent on time. Based on this, an ergonomic redesign and, consequently, manufacturing of the chair has been done. A perceived-comfort comparison between the library chair and the redesigned one has been performed. A statistical sample of 28 healthy students performed a 20-min experiment two times, alternatively on the library chair and the redesigned one. The 20-min experiment was divided into two 10-min tasks (“Reading & Writing” and “Laptop use”) to simulate a study day. The participants’ postures were acquired non-invasively using cameras and processed by Kinovea; questionnaires were used to rate the perceived subjective (dis)comfort. A procedure for improving an existing product through a comfort-driven redesign is proposed. Results showed the redesigned library chair lead on increasing postural comfort (particularly in the lumbar area) thanks to the new design and modifications.

Food choices for adopting a healthy lifestyle are influenced by a set of factors. Early adulthood and university entry are crucial for the development of eating habits that will be decisive in quality of life. In Portugal, there are few studies that assess the nutritional status of university students. The main objective of this study, as a pilot study, was to characterize the dietary habits of university students at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal. This cross-sectional descriptive study included university students, aged between 18 and 28 years old. Anthropometric data were collected, and body mass index was calculated. The dietary habits were assessed through a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire, administered directly. The average daily intake values were: energy, 2282.9 ± 954.0 kcal, 243.2 g of carbohydrates, 114.2 g of proteins, and 100.9 g of lipids. These values include a protein intake of 25.40%, 52.11% carbohydrate and 22.47% lipids. It was concluded that there is an increase in protein and lipid intake in samples from the university students evaluated.
