This descriptive quantitative research study was conducted to determine the gender involvement in the Manide Tribe's contemporary economic activities and formulate a capacity development program for Mamanide people to acquire knowledge and uplift their economic condition. Findings reveal that the 53 Mamanide respondents, obtained by complete enumeration, are involved in contemporary economic activities like the external labor market for males and the sale of agricultural products for females. The majority of females are involved in saving and storing compared to males. Both respondents are interested in buying basic needs and producing crops and farm products. Their very high level of gender involvement has been accounted for in the external labor market, spending, and production; however, in saving and storing, the male has no involvement while the female has a high level of involvement. As to the contributing factors, the social, economic, environmental, and political factors have a very high contribution to the changes in their economic systems. The study identified areas that need to be addressed through the formulation and implementation of the Capacity Development Program.

Introduction. Disclosing unfavorable information is a very important moment in both diagnostic and therapeutic processes. It is also a highly stress‑inducing factor, both among patients and physicians. During our research we tried to establish how exactly bad news is communicated to patients and the amount of stress that Polish physicians are under in such situations.Material and Methods. Quantitative research was conducted in a university clinical hospital. With the use of an anonymous questionnaire, physicians (n = 100) from oncology, internal diseases, cardiac surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, and urology clinics were asked about the sources and the intensity of stress involved in BBN (Breaking Bad News). Similarly, patients (n = 378) of said clinics were asked to evaluate the relationships they had with their doctors. Results. Most (66.7%) clinicians declared they always conveyed unfavorable information to their patients fully and in detail. Exactly 50.0% admitted they were experiencing high or very high level of stress while doing so. They were mostly (56.1%) anxious about depriving their patients of hope and (38.5%) feared they were letting their patients down. 37.3% of clinicians were afraid of emotional response. Significantly fewer physicians (43%) than patients (84.6%) were of the opinion that all of the medical orders must be followed to the letter.Conclusions. Results suggest that BBN was a stressful experience for physicians. It was mostly related to the fear of disrupting the patient's well‑being. Low level of effective communication was caused by the insufficiency of BBN skills. Social and cultural aspects also played a role.

This case describes social, technological, economic and political factors impacting on transnational learning in the Master of Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development program at the Australian National University. Using the experiences of students working in areas of conflict, poverty and injustice across the world, this case shows how flexible delivery of postgraduate education not only allows development workers to continue their career progression while remaining fully active in the field, but also enables them to engage in stimulating high-level discourse with their development practitioner peers as they apply theory to practice. Giving development workers the opportunity to engage in advanced study in a stimulating and peer-supported learning environment without leaving home both enriches their career functionality and long-term prospects, and enhances their day-to-day work activities. As a bonus, host communities benefit from a development worker with greater access to expertise, experience and support, and a reduced sense of professional and/or cultural isolation.
