This article reports on the results of action research conducted in a university ESP classroom in Oman. The impetus for this research was the practitioner’s dissatisfaction with the current practice of introducing the grammatical concept of the English passive and its subsequent results. Framed within the sociocultural theory of cognitive development, this paper investigates the effectiveness of concept-based instruction (CBI). As a pedagogical approach, CBI targets a learner’s internalization of the concept of a language constituent that assists the learner with the meaning making abilities of sentences where the English passive is used. Twenty-two university students enrolled in an ESP course participated in the study. The data was collected through the teacher’s observations, students’ artifacts, and students’ feedback on the effectiveness of CBI. Data analysis reveals the effectiveness of CBI in heightening learner awareness of the concept of a language constituent, developing learner knowledge of the English passive, and improving their meaning-making abilities at the phrasal and sentential levels.

The study aims to determine the increase in student learning outcomes. This type of research is class action research (PTK) using a learning model of Problem Based Instruction and Make a Match.  In Cycle I show the average class earned at 63.8. The results of the final cycle II data analysis with the same learning is obtained by the average grade of 80.4. Based on the classical learning criteria, this learning has reached the target of learning. It can be concluded that through the learning model of Problem Based Instruction and Make a Match, there is an increase in student learning outcomes VIIII SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan increased. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Learning Model Problem Based Instruction, Make a Match

This paper presents the influences of self-spirituality for prosperous Counselling attitudes among youths with particular focus on Nigerian students in Malaysian Universities, towards becoming positive agents of change in the society. The research paper analyses ways in which self-spirituality can be applied independently as a Counselling means to achieve positive attitudes among these university students. The Null hypothesis stated that there are no significant and direct relationships between self-spirituality and counselling attitudes. To carry out the research, two instruments were combined in a quantitative survey involving 394 students that were systematically drawn from ten randomly selected universities in Malaysia. The results of the data analysis indicate the fact that self-spirituality has a positive impact on counselling attitudeswith (β =0.212 and p value = 0.002). The null hypothesis was therefore rejected. The analysis ends with a discussion that provides recommendations that can be adopted to ensure success of the self-spirituality use in counselling. The paper suggested with remarkable conclusion that since spirituality plays such an important role in every society, there should be more nurturing of it in the society while the Guidance Counsellors work towards directing the young people on the right path of God.

Building on practice, action research, and theory, the purpose of this paper is to present a 10-step method for applying the Constant Comparative Method (CCM) of grounded theory when multiple researchers perform data analysis and meaning making. CCM is a core qualitative analysis approach for grounded theory research. Literature suggests approaches for increasing the credibility of CCM using multiple researchers and inter-coder reliability (ICR), but documentation of methods for collaboration on CCM data analysis is sparse. The context for developing the10-step CCM approach was a qualitative study conducted to understand the impact of webcams on a virtual team. To develop a methodology for the study, the researchers reviewed grounded theory literature to synthesize an approach for conducting CCM with multiple researchers. Applying action research, an integration of literature and practical experience conducting the qualitative study resulted in a model for using CCM with multiple researchers performing data analysis. The method presented in this paper provides practical guidance for applying CCM collaboratively and shares the researchers’ perspectives on the value of ICR.

Mobile learning applications can be categorized into four generations: non-adaptive, learning-preferences based adaptive, learning-contexts-based adaptive and learning-contexts-aware adaptive. The research on our learning schedule framework is motivated by some of the challenges within the context-aware mobile learning field. These include being able to create and enhance students’ learning opportunities in different locations by considering different learning contexts and using them as the basis for selecting appropriate learning materials. We have adopted a pedagogical approach for evaluating this framework, an exploratory interview study with potential users consisting of 37 university students. The observed interview feedback gives us insights into the use of a pedagogical m-learning suggestion framework deploying a learning schedule subject to the five proposed learning contexts. Our data analysis is described and interpreted leading to a personalized suggestion mechanism for each learner and each scenario and a proposed taxonomy for describing mobile learner preferences.

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of children's cognitive development through the media of cardboard number cards in PAUD CERIA, Pagar Agung Village, Seluma Barat District, Seluma Regency, to find out whether the use of used cardboard number card media can improve children's cognitive development in PAUD CERIA, Pagar Agung Village. Seluma Barat District, Seluma Regency. Classroom Action Research (CAR), which focuses on classroom situations, or commonly known as classroom action research, the procedure used is in the form of a cycle. The main subjects in this study were children of PAUD CERIA Desa Pagar Agung Kec. West Seluma Kab. Seluma group B numbered 16 people. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation methods. Data analysis was carried out in a descriptive qualitative-quantitative manner with the emphasis being used to determine the improvement in the process expressed in a predicate, while quantitative data analysis was used to determine the increase in yield using a percentage. The research concludes that the cognitive development of children through the media of card numbers from used cardboard in PAUD Ceria Pagar Agung Village, Seluma Barat District, Seluma Regency is well developed.

This research is motivated by poor teacher performance. For this reason the aim of this research is to improve teacher performance by carrying out academic supervision. This study uses a school action research design that has stages of planning, implementation, observation, reflection. This research was conducted at the target schools in Dumai city from March 4 to April 27. The subjects of this study were grade IV elementary school teachers totaling 11 people. Data analysis instruments use observation sheets that are analyzed and described according to the criteria set. The results showed that the teacher's performance in the first cycle had an average percentage of 65% with sufficient criteria, classically the number of teachers who achieved the indicator of success was 3 people (27%). After repairs with academic supervision, the performance of teachers in the second cycle increased with a percentage of 81% with sufficient criteria. Classically the number of teachers who achieved good performance was 9 people (81%).
