The outbreak of the present pandemic Coronavirus (official designation COVID-19 or 2019-nCov) forced us to adopt “new normal” and give a greater use and reliance on virtual space than ever before with physical spaces. In the context of the library, shifting of the user assistant programme from physical to virtual face a problem in this transition. This paper based on the probable solution with the use of practical implementation of conversational AI i.e. “Bot” or “Chatbot” to fulfil user needs 24*7 without human intervention. A chatbot is a computer program that can simulate conversation and interact with humans — spoken, written or both. It acquired a set of pre-programmed commands and continue learning based on the inputs it receives. This paper gives a general overview of conversational AI, Chatbot and its multitasking features and a practical overview of the implementation of one of the famous chatbot provider Kore.ai using its free to use plan. Additionally, the paper explained the requirement of the present situation & long term benefits of chatbot in the library.

The reflections in this article were instigated by the repeated and brutal clashes since 2007 between peasants and the state government’s militias—both official and unofficial—over the issue of industrialization. A communist government engaging peasants violently in order to acquire and transfer their lands to big business houses to set up capitalist enterprises seemed dramatically ironic. De- spite the presence of many immediate causes for the conflict, subtle long-term change to the nature of communist politics in the state was also responsible for the present situation. This article identifies two trends that, though significant, are by themselves not enough to explain what is happening in West Bengal today. First, the growth of a culture of governance where the Communist Party actively seeks to manage rather than politicize social conflicts; second, the recasting of radical political subjectivity as a matter of identity rather than an instigation for critical self-reflection and self-transformation.

Abstract—KSI infrastructure is a time-stamping and server-based signature solution deployed in Estonia to provide the integrity and timing information of data. With the goal of providing a personal signature that does not depend on the long-term secrecy of signing keys, Buldas et al. have proposed a BLT scheme that is based on the KSI infrastructure. Although Buldas et al. have shown that the (modified) BLT scheme is secure in the theoretical model, the fact that its practical implementation does not follow that description. In this paper, we will evaluate and provide two attack scenarios if the BLT schema is implemented in such a way, and then propose a solution to that problem. Tóm tắt—Hạ tầng KSI là một giải pháp chữ ký dựa trên máy chủ chứa thông tin thời gian được thử nghiệm triển khai ở Estonia để cung cấp tính toàn vẹn và thông tin về thời gian của dữ liệu.Với mục tiêu tạo ra một chữ ký số cá nhân mà không phụ thuộc vào tính bí mật lâu dài của các khóa ký, Buldas và các cộng sự đã đề xuất lược đồ BLT dựa trên nền của hạ tầng KSI. Mặc dù, Buldas và các cộng sự đã chỉ ra rằng lược đồ BLT (sửa đổi) là an toàn trong mô hình lý thuyết, nhưng triển khai thực tế của lược đồ này không hoàn toàn tuân theo mô tả đó. Trong bài báo này, chúng tôi sẽ đánh giá và đưa ra hai kịch bản tấn công nếu lược đồ BLT được triển khai như vậy, và sau đó đề xuất một giải pháp cho vấn đề đó.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to contribute an actor-network-theory (ANT) perspective of how algorithms are used and whether this reflects positively on organisational practices and related perceptions of organisation performance, by both customers and employees. Furthermore, the organisation’s view of adopting algorithms to manage their performance is explored. Design/methodology/approach The current study is a study set in this virtual space, as it seeks to use data available online from different stakeholders of the case organisation. Online “virtual space” studies have become more common over the past few years. Primary and secondary data are shared online, for instance on relevant rating websites for customers (such as TrustPilot) and employees (such as Indeed), which serve as a reflection of the organisational performance and the communication of their values. This type of study has become more prevalent, either as a study undertaken online fully (Hine, 2007) or partially (for instance Baxter et al., 2019), which provides a different perspective to traditionally carried out face-to-face interactions. Findings The current study has contributed insights from a global case organisation in the logistics sector originating in the Middle East (ME). The case organisation clearly indicates that its algorithm, in line with particular presentations and discussions on online platforms, is focussed on analysing limited factors, which are prediction of accurate delivery timeslot, preferred and precise location for delivery and speed of delivery overall. This reflects an inherent bias of the delivery industry, which the case organisation operates in, and may focus attention on delivering on those objectives, with a detrimental effect on the organisation’s broader organisational mindset. This refers to long-term values and sustainability-related objectives. Originality/value Findings will reflect on whether algorithms can be used to align a multi-national organisation to achieve its desired performance and related desirable results. This will be one of the main contributions of the current study, which engages with a multi-national organisation in the logistics sector that is based in the ME region.

The paper provides a comprehensive perspective of the critical aspects to be taken into account when planning the long-term management of water meters in a utility. In order to facilitate their quick understanding and practical implementation, they have been structured into nine steps. Ranging from an initial audit up to the final periodic meter replacement planning, these steps cover three aspects of the problem – field work, laboratory work and management tasks; and each one is developed in detail paying attention to the particular data needed and noting the practical outcome it will yield.

Abstract In-service integrity management (IM) of steel lazy wave risers (SLWRs) can benefit significantly from quantitative assessment of the overall risk of system failure as it can provide an effective tool for decision making. SLWRs are prone to fatigue failure within their touchdown zone (TDZ). This failure mode needs to be evaluated rigorously in riser IM processes because fatigue is an ongoing degradation mechanism threatening the structural integrity of risers throughout their service life. However, accurately evaluating the probability of fatigue failure for riser systems within a useful time frame is challenging due to the need to run a large number of nonlinear, dynamic numerical time domain simulations. Applying the Bayesian framework for machine learning, through the use of Gaussian Processes (GP) for regression, offers an attractive solution to overcome the burden of prohibitive simulation run times. GPs are stochastic, data-driven predictive models which incorporate the underlying physics of the problem in the learning process, and facilitate rapid probabilistic assessments with limited loss in accuracy. This paper proposes an efficient framework for practical implementation of a GP to create predictive models for the estimation of fatigue responses at SLWR hotspots. Such models are able to perform stochastic response prediction within a few milliseconds, thus enabling rapid prediction of the probability of SLWR fatigue failure. A realistic North West Shelf (NWS) case study is used to demonstrate the framework, comprising a 20” SLWR connected to a representative floating facility located in 950 m water depth. A full hindcast metocean dataset with associated statistical distributions are used for the riser long-term fatigue loading conditions. Numerical simulation and sampling techniques are adopted to generate a simulation-based dataset for training the data-driven model. In addition, a recently developed dimensionality reduction technique is employed to improve efficiency and reduce complexity of the learning process. The results show that the stochastic predictive models developed by the suggested framework can predict the long-term TDZ fatigue damage of SLWRs due to vessel motions with an acceptable level of accuracy for practical purposes.

Median timing of reproduction in salmonid populations is generally consistent among years, reflecting long-term patterns of natural selection from characteristics of the local environment. However, altered selection from factors related to climate change or human intervention might shift timing over generations, with implications for the population’s persistence. To study these processes, we modeled median timing of redd (nest) counts as an index of spawning timing by natural-origin Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) in the Skagit River system in Washington State, USA. Over the last 2–6 decades, natural-origin salmon have been spawning later by 0.03–0.52 days·year–1, while a naturally spawning group that is influenced by strays from a hatchery has been spawning earlier by 0.19 days·year–1. Trends in the spawning timing of hatchery-origin strays may reflect opposing selection from the hatchery, where egg take for propagation has become earlier by 0.58 days·year–1. As mean August river temperatures have risen over the period of record, hatchery timing trends may be moving in the opposite direction from the plastic or adaptive patterns expressed by natural-origin fish.

AbstractIn the present work, we assess the chronology of archaeological sites known as earthen mounds, commonly found at the Pampas biome, among the lowlands of Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. We focused on the Pontal da Barra settlement, which is a testimony of the long-term occupation of indigenous groups in the swamp and wet environment of Patos Lagoon, southern Brazil. A Bayesian chronological model based on the radiocarbon (14C) dating of 17 samples of fish otolith, 5 charcoal fragments, and 2 bones (human and dog) allowed determination of the beginning of the occupation as well as the occupational synchronism of the different mounds. The nature of the samples allows us to study the local 14C reservoir effect through the comparison between the group of marine and terrestrial samples, deriving a reservoir offset value of 63±53 14C yr for this particular area, indicating a strong freshwater influence in the lagoon system. We estimate the start of human intervention in the landscapes of southern Patos Lagoon to be around 2200 cal BP, with the most intense activity between 1800 and 1200 cal BP.

It is well kown that microangiopathy is associated with shortened platelet survival. Therefore a pilot study was performed to test several antiplatelet drugs with respect to their ability to increase platelet survival. The study was confined to 18 patients with long standing Diabetes mellitus and microangiopathv of I.- II. degree, exhibiting platelet survival times less than 7 days. The patients were treated with antiplatelet drugs. Dipyridamole with several combination of Acetylsali- cylicacid (ASA) and Sulfinpyrazon.1. 225 mg Dipyridamole and 990 mg ASA per day, 2. 225 mg Dipyridamole and 300 mg ASA per day, 3. 150 mg Dipyridamole and 150 mg Sulfinpyrazon per day.Platelet survival was determined by the method described by Harker. The resultant survival curves were analysed by a computer program written by Murphy and Francis which is based on the multine hit model for platelet survival.The results of the study are: After 10 days treatment the platelet survival was markedly increased under each of the combination.If one assumes that there exists a causal relationship between microangiopathy and platelet survival,a long-term treatment by antiplatelet drugs may be a prophylaxis against microangiopathy in diabetics.

This clinical review outlines a practical approach to the use of acitretin in the treatment of psoriasis. Acitretin is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of adult patients with chronic moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. It is an oral retinoid and is the only systemic agent that is not clinically immunosuppressive; it works primarily by enhancing differentiation and maturation of cells. Side effects associated with this medication are usually mild and manageable; serious adverse events are rare. Therefore, it can be used for long-term maintenance therapy or in combination with other topical or systemic agents and phototherapy.
