Effects of time management of educated working housewives on their marital satisfaction was investigated in this study. Among others was the determination of effective time management on working wives’ family satisfaction. A total of 435 working women were selected through the stratified random procedure with the survey method. Data collected were analysed using time management techniques and marital satisfaction. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) IBM version 23. Statistical procedure used included frequencies and percentages. Inferential statistics, Spearman rho correlation procedure along with multinomial logistic regression were used to determine the relationship between time management and marital satisfaction along with satisfaction in the family at a fixed probability level of 0.05. Result of the analysis revealed that effective time management is a significant factor of marital and family satisfaction of working wives in the study area. Based on the findings, it was recommended that working wives should adopt measures that would enable them to effectively reduce time spent on routine activities through the use of technological devices where economic power allows as a way of increasing leisure time and happiness for the family.

Children, brought up in foster families, experience various problems (diffi culties in interpersonal relationships with parents, diffi culties in communicating with peers, emotional instability), which lead to confl icts, quarrels, running away from home, destructive phenomena, etc. One of the eff ective forms of working with children brought up in foster families is individual counselling. Individual counselling is used by various specialists (psychologists, educators, psychotherapists), where a special place is taken by a social educator. His or her activity involves the implementation of social-protective, preventive, educational, informational, advisory functions. In the process of organizing individual counseling, the social educator takes into account the social situation of the family and the child, personal characteristics, social conditions, social and cultural characteristics and the nature of the relationship with the social environment. To organize individual counseling, a social educator needs to master various and eff ective techniques, and take into account a number of recommendations. An analysis of the literature and practical socio-pedagogical experience led to an understanding of the insuffi cient degree of elaboration of this issue. The purpose of this article was the solution to this problem.

This chapter examines the sociocognitive dimensions of cultural categorizations of deservingness. The social issue of poverty has been a persistent source of debate in the American system of policy development, influenced by conceptual distinctions between the “haves” and “have-nots,” “working moms” and “unemployed dads,” and the “deserving poor” and the “undeserving poor.” Although there is a wealth of literature discussing the ideological underpinnings of stratification systems, these discussions often focus on categorical distinctions between the poor and the nonpoor, with much less discussion of distinctions made among the poor. Moreover, while scholars of culture and policy have long referenced the importance of cultural categories of worthiness in policy development, the theoretical significance of these distinctions has been largely understudied. I expand the discourse on the relationship between cultural representations of worth and social welfare policy by exploring how these categories are conceptualized. Drawing on analytical tools from a sociology of perception framework, I create a model that examines deservingness along continuums of morality and eligibility to highlight the taken-for-granted cultural subtleties that shape perceptions of the poor. I focus on social filters created by norms of poverty, welfare, and the family to explore how the deserving are differentiated from the undeserving.

The COVID-19 pandemic represents a global threat and crisis situation, and its wide-reaching impact has also affected marital satisfaction. Dysfunction of the marital system puts the survival of the family unit at risk. This research aimed to determine the level of marital satisfaction of Portuguese families during the social lockdown and the association between the variables under study. A descriptive, exploratory study was conducted. During the social lockdown, 276 people of Portuguese nationality and residing in Portugal were recruited using nonprobabilistic convenience sampling. Marital satisfaction in the pandemic phase showed low values that may be associated with the social, economic, and political context experienced by the pandemic situation. Future research must be carried out in order to identify, prevent, and intervene in situations of violence. In addition, future research should explore not only marital satisfaction during the current pandemic but a more systemic assessment of marital relations during crises, expanding the impact of marital satisfaction in family functioning.

Qur’an Reading Courses for “Intellectuals” in Dakar, Senegal: Religious Adult Education in Francophone Middle Class Milieus Since 2015, a certain type of Quran reading course has been offered in Dakar. With their simple but efficient methods, these courses promise attendees the ability to read the Quran within three months. They are subject to fees and target a specific social group, identified as “intellectuals” and located within francophone educated urban milieus. The article examines the success of these courses and the social positioning of its participants, who are drawn from Arabic-speaking (teachers) and francophone (students) educated groups. Since Senegal’s independence, the latter have been ascribed an exclusive status as the national educated elite – a status that is increasingly questioned in ongoing Islamization processes ‘from below’. The analysis shows that the courses contribute to a weakening of the symbolic boundaries between francisants and arabisants and help the participants to reinforce a social status that embodies notions of respectable modernity. The specific method and pedagogy of the courses also play an important role in their success, as do their effective time management, their bureaucratic structures, and their spatial and material conditions, since these all correspond to the habitus of the target group whose members have been socialized within modern secular education systems.

Review of the book Mind Games: towards understanding the nature of prejudice and conflict, or how to learn to live in peace by Terrence Webster-Doyle. Mind Games: To understand the roots of prejudice and how to learn live peacefully: a scientific and educational publication. T. Webster-Doyle. Samara Cultural Society Artifact-Cultural Diversity. Samara: Samara Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences; 2020. 55 p. Reviewer considers that T. Webster-Doyles book is a brilliant example of how conflicts can be resolved most effectively without theorized distraction. T. Webster-Doyles book is small in volume, but very significant in content. The author offers a real program for taming the conflicts and violence that fill the entire human history. Until now, there is a clear lack of research on the universal determinants of the emergence and dynamics of conflict. A paradoxical situation arises when methods of conflict resolution are studied and modified, despite the fact that its initial determinants are not accurately determined. The models of taming conflicts that are being replicated in the social sciences almost do not solve the very problem of overcoming violence in society. Note that T. Webster-Doyle defines her book as the most significant work of her life. The author proposes an original approach to the determination of the conflict and defines the ways of its resolution in direct relationship with the understanding of its determinants. Also, the advantage of the book is a good literary presentation of the material. T. Webster-Doyle views conflict as a phenomenon created by the human mind, which at the same time, in a paradox, is trying to solve a problem which it itself creates. This work is devoted to the study of the determinants of conflict, which are considered comprehensively in the relationship of biological and social determinants: as generated by genetically programmed brain programs and at the same time as a function of peoples perception of the world around them and each other. The author notes that the universal basis of biological programming is the general motivation the desire to survive. Consequently, this work presents a program for resolving the conflict based on a comprehensive consideration of the conflict as a sociobiological phenomenon, which is based on the conditioned thinking of a person (primordial biological protection of his brain). The advantage of the book is its versatility. The author does not just consider the problem of the conflict, its components, the parties to the conflict, conflict genes, the incident, etc. He is looking for an approach that allows you to take a fresh look at this problem and find ways to prevent and destroy the conflict.

We studied the stylistic features of autobiographical memory structure which can be significant for the understanding the sources of intrapersonal propensity for deviant behavior among young people. From the standpoint of the Vygotsky's theory we studied 102 "parent-teenager" dyads in order to examine the mechanisms of cultural determination of autobiographical memory macrostructure in context of reproducing the life scenarios. We differentiate the social influences of various levels on the formation of system characteristics of autobiographical memory, which constitute individual style of fixation personal stories of the past. We have found а stable family-reproduced indicators of autobiographical memories belonging to the "family life" scenario, these include the emotional profile of the memories of lives, the level of scenario (fixation of socially approved events); representation of memories of other people (social orientation). The low values of these indicators can be the risk factors for asocial behavior.

Abstract Introduction The family life of a child with chronic illness is marked by several determinants and demands for care. Within that context, the greater the support received, the greater the resources available to face vulnerability, and to respond positively to guidance and care. Objectives describing the social network of families of children with chronic illness, and understanding the meaning of the relationship of the family caregiver with the members of his/her social network. Methods Qualitative research with nineteen relatives of children with chronic diseases at a rehabilitation center in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The theoretical framework of Sanicola's social network was used. Data were collected in November 2019 by semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the content analysis technique. The research was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of the participating institutions. The social network map showed the presence of few members and mothers as the main caregivers. The main problems among children were: autism, Down syndrome, cognitive disorders and cerebral palsy. Among the most involved people with the caregivers, friends, sisters and grandparents stood out as the ones who offered material, financial and emotional support. Rehabilitation unit support (secondary level) and dissatisfaction with the primary health unit were mentioned. Conclusions The social network of children with chronic illness is a small family network marked by social vulnerability and the female gender as responsible for care. It is noteworthy that the weakness in the relationship with health professionals at primary care level can compromise care continuity. Therefore, it is recommended to professionals to know the social network of the clientele served, as well as interacting and strengthening this network in order to provide more effective actions for health protection, rehabilitation and supported self-care strategies. Key messages Chronic childhood disease is a major public health problem. Being aware of social network favors the implementation of more actions toward health protection, rehabilitation and supported self-care strategies.
