Abstrac :Plastic pollution / waste has an impact that will disturb the stability of the ecosystem, especially aquatic organisms such as fish. The main source of plastic contamination comes from household waste that is not managed properly, especially in coastal areas that make the sea as a place of final discharge. Plastic pollution is currently the main problem that is accepted by the environment, especially water. Plastic will dissolve in the waters and will form small sizes (micro-plastic) impacting biota, including fish. Fish including aquatic organisms that can not distinguish between food and plastic particles clearly, thus providing an effect on digestion and growth. The results showed the growth rate of silver Pompanoo with the highest plastic concentration will cause slower growth, the control treatment is the best growth yield compared to treatments that have a plastic content mixed with feed. Growth of weights with the highest concentration of plastic particles is 0,48 gr/week, length growth is 0.75 cm / week, and survival is 69.17% and shows the growth and survival rates are worse or there is a tendency to worsen with an increase in the concentration of plastic contamination . Plastic particles consumed by fish are not digested properly and can even cause the growth response of fish to be slow even to death.

Betok fish is very popular with the people because of the delicious and tasty taste of the meat, therefore this type of fish is quite potential for cultivation. (Muslim 2008) in (Anggara et al 2013). Most people who cultivate betok fish (A.testudineus, Bloch) do not understand their character or behavior, so that many farmers experience complaints in maintenance, especially in their growth and survival. As an alternative to the maintenance of Betok fish (A. testudineus, Bloch), the growth rates and viability of the Betok (A. testudineus, Bloch) fry were reared in a container using a shellter. The research design used was an environmental design RAL (completely randomized design) consisting of 4 (four) treatments and 3 (three) replications. The treatments were as follows: Treatment A: Betok fish seeds (A. testudineus, Bloch) without treatment (control), Treatment B: Betok fish seeds (A. testudineus, Bloch) were given a bamboo shellter ,, Treatment C; Betok fish (A. testudineusBloch) was given a coconut shell shellter, Treatment D: Betok fish (A.testudineusBloch) was given a paralon shellter. The results showed that betok (A. tetstudineus, Bloch) seeds were maintained using a shelter (Treatment C and B) resulted in better survival rates (99.35% & 98.07%) than treatments A and D (96.15% & 96.79%).

Field regeneration of three (3) medicinal plants - Securidaca longepedunculata (violet tree), Ocimum gratissimum (scent leaf) and Pterocarpus mildebraedii by means of rooting of stem cuttings at different lengths of 10 -15 cm and 15 -20 cm were studied. The effect of the plant hormone Indole-3-Butyric acid (IBA) at 5g/l was tested on rooting, bud sprout and leaf formation of the rooted stem cuttings of the plant species as well as the effect of the length of the stem cuttings on their growth and survival rates. The results of the study revealed that stem cuttings of O. gratissimum treated with IBA and the control treatment sprouted within 5 - 8 days. The treated O. gratissimum stem cuttings produced a slightly higher number of buds (2.58 ± 0.86) when compared to the control (2.00 ± 0.89) with no significant difference at P ≤ 0.05. Stem cuttings of the treated P. mildbraedii cuttings sprouted within 8 -10 days with 1.40 ± 0.37 number of buds, with the control showing no sprouts. Consequently, IBA application produced more leaves (13.00 ± 5.58) and roots (1.33 ± 0.01) than the control. However, O. gratissimum stem cuttings had the highest leaf (13.08 ± 4.47) and root numbers (135.00 ± 13.45) followed by the control with values- 13.00 ± 5.58 for leaf development and 61.66 ± 2.34 for root number respectively. Irrespective of the treatments, none of the stem cuttings of S. longepedunculata sprouted. This study showed that exogenous application of IBA to stem cuttings of the tested plants, except S. Longepedunculata, improved the root number, number of leaves and number of buds. Keywords: Stem cuttings, Indole-3-Butyric acid (IBA), Rooting

Goldfish is one of the most popular freshwater cultivated fish because it is one of the freshwater commodities that has economic value and is sold at a price that is affordable to all groups. Ginger is a natural ingredient that can stimulate fish growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding ginger to feed and to determine a good dose of ginger for growth and survival rates of carp (Cyprinus carpio). This research was conducted by experimental method using completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments given were Treatment 1: 0 grams, without adding ginger / kg of feed (control), Treatment 2: 2.5 grams of ginger / kg of feed, Treatment 3: 5 grams of ginger rhizome / kg of feed, Treatment 4: 7.5 grams of ginger / kg of feed, Treatment 5: 10 grams of ginger / kg of feed. The results showed that the addition of ginger had no significant effect on absolute length growth, absolute weight growth, feed conversion ratio, and feed efficiency, but had a significant effect on the survival rate of goldfish (cyprinus corpio). And a good dose of ginger is in P2 treatment with a dose of 2.5 grams of ginger, because it has been able to show a good survival rate of 100%.

<p>Heavy metals are serious pollutants of the aquatic environment because of their environmental persistence and ability to be accumulated by aquatic organisms. <em>Oreochromis niloticus </em>exposed to 0, 0.16, 0.5, and 1.0 ppm Hg for 30 days. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of mercury in water on survival rate, growth rates, hematological, and histological parameters of <em>Oreochromis niloticus</em>. This study was conducted from Mei to June 2009. The experimental design was arranged in completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. Stock density was 8 fish/aquarium with mean initial body weight was 15.70±1.13 g. Growth and survival rates of test fish were decreased with increasing the Hg concentration. Red blood cell (RBC) count, haematocrit content, and haemoglobin content decreased when compared to the control. The number of white blood cells (WBC) increased in mercuric treated fish. : Skin cancer, among the various kinds of cancers, is a type that emerges from skin due to the growth of abnormal cells. These cells are capable of spreading and invading the other parts of the body. The occurrence of non-melanoma and melanoma, which are the major types of skin cancers, has increased over the past decades. Exposure to ultraviolet radiations (UV) is the main associative cause of skin cancer. UV exposure can inactivate tumor suppressor genes while activating various oncogenes. The conventional techniques like surgical removal, chemotherapy and radiation therapy lack the potential for targeting cancer cells and harm the normal cells. However, the novel therapeutics show promising improvements in the effectiveness of treatment, survival rates and better quality of life for patients. Different methodologies are involved in the skin cancer therapeutics for delivering the active ingredients to the target sites. Nano carriers are very efficient as they have the ability to improve the stability of drugs and further enhance their penetration into the tumor cells. The recent developments and research in nanotechnology have entitled several targeting and therapeutic agents to be incorporated into nanoparticles for an enhancive treatment of skin cancer. To protect the research works in the field of nanolipoidal systems various patents have been introduced. Some of the patents acknowledge responsive liposomes for specific targeting, nanocarriers for the delivery or co-delivery of chemotherapeutics, nucleic acids as well as photosensitizers. Further recent patents on the novel delivery systems have also been included here.

Soil salinity and sodicity are among the main problems for optimum crop production in areas where rainfall is not enough for leaching of salts out of the rooting zone. Application of organic and Ca-based amendments have the potential to increase crop yield and productivity under saline–alkaline soil environments. Based on this hypothesis, the present study was conducted to evaluate the potential of compost, Ca-based fertilizer industry waste (Ca-FW), and Ca-fortified compost (Ca-FC) to increase growth and yield of maize under saline–sodic soil conditions. Saline–sodic soil conditions with electrical conductivity (EC) levels (1.6, 5, and 10 dS m−1) and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) = 15, were developed by spiking soil with a solution containing NaCl, Na2SO4, MgSO4, and CaCl2. Results showed that soil salinity and sodicity significantly reduced plant growth, yield, physiological, and nutrient uptake parameters. However, the application of Ca-FC caused a remarkable increase in the studied parameters of maize at EC levels of 1.6, 5, and 10 dS m−1 as compared to the control. In addition, Ca-FC caused the maximum decrease in Na+/K+ ratio in shoot up to 85.1%, 71.79%, and 70.37% at EC levels of 1.6, 5, and 10 dS m−1, respectively as compared to the control treatment. Moreover, nutrient uptake (NPK) was also significantly increased with the application of Ca-FC under normal as well as saline–sodic soil conditions. It is thus inferred that the application of Ca-FC could be an effective amendment to enhance growth, yield, physiology, and nutrient uptake in maize under saline–sodic soil conditions constituting the novelty of this work.

Water stress is an important approach to use water resources efficiently and remit the agricultural water shortage. Hemarthria compressa is one of perennial grasses, a pasture of high quality, which has abundant species resources in China. To explore the response of the growth, yield and water use efficiency(WUE) of Hemarthria compressa under water stress, this study, adapting pot experiment, imposed three water stress degree (LD, MD and SD) treatments and a control treatment on Hemarthria compressa. The data of growth indicators during control period, yield and total water consumption were obtained. The results show a noticeable inhibitory action of water stress on the growth of Hemarthria compressa. Along with the intensifying of water stress, plant height increment, leaf area, total biomass, dry matter of each organ and yield decreased, and the root-shoot ratio increased firstly and inclined to slump finally. Plants under the middle water stress treatment achieved the greatest WUE of 38.25 kg/m3. The first 10d in the water control period was the most sensitive period of the pasture responding to water stress.

The high demand for mud crabs in North Kalimantan causes catch to increase in the wild. If it is not balanced with efforts to increase its aquaculture of mud crab, in the future there will be a decline in population. This study aims to determine the growth and survival rate of mud crab seed (crablet, Scylla serrata) in the application method of different types of trash fish. This research used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The Crablet used carapace width average 0.07-0.09 cm and weigh average 0.05-0.07 g with total 150 crablets. The treatments applied by trash fish were (A) Tilapia Fish (Oreochromis mossambicus), (B) Longfin Herrings Fish (Ilisha elongata), (C) Sword Fish (Trichiurus lepturus) and (D) Snails (Telescopium telescopium). The results were The best weight growth of crablet occurs in the treatment of T. lepturus (P>0.05) and  the highest of survival rates of crablet were found in treatment T. telescopium (P<0.05)  than the other. The trash fish were used turned out to be able survival of crablet mud crab (Scylla serrata).

This research aims was to determine the effective pressure on fine bubbles technology on the growth of Siamese catfish fry in the aquaponic system. This study uses a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. Treatment A (Control), Treatment B (FBs at a pressure of 4,5 atm), Treatment C (FBs at a pressure of 5 atm and treatment D (FBs at a pressure of 5,5 atm). The parameters observed were Specific Growth Rate, Survival Rate and water quality (Temperature, pH, DO, Ammonia) Data were analyzed using variance with the F test at a 95% confidence level. The best treatment for catfish growth was treatment D (5,5 atm pressure), which gave the highest SGR value of 7,24% and the highest SR value of 100%. The value of water quality parameters were in good condition for the growth and survival of catfish.
