This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry on critical thinking in the classification of living things. This research was conducted at SMPN 25 Pekanbaru. The research was carried out in the form of an experiment. The study population was class VII. The sample was taken using simple random sampling technique, which consisted of 3 classes, namely the experimental class 1 using the guided inquiry model, the experimental class 2 using the modified free inquiry model and the control class using the conventional method. The research design used a pretest and posttest control group design. Data were analyzed by using ANOVA test (one way ANOVA). Based on the result data, the average critical thinking result of the classification of living things with an average value of the experimental class 1 is 77.84 (good), the experimental class 2 is 70.93 (good) and the control class is 43.29 (poor). In the experimental class class 1, the critical thinking average is higher than the experimental class 2 and the control class. Based on the results of the ANOVA test, it was stated that the use of guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry had a significant effect on students' critical thinking in the experimental class 1, the experimental class 2 and the control class with a significant value (0.000) <alpha (0.05).

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan peserta didik yang diajar dengan model inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis pada mata pelajaran fisika dan mendeskripsikan berapa besar pengaruh model inkuiri terbimbing tehadap keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitan quasi experiment dengan desain nonequivalent control group desain. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor keterampilan berpikir kritis mengalami peningkatan di kelas eksperimen dan berdasarkan uji hipotesis dengan thitung > ttabel (7.10059 > 1.66827) dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis pada mata pelajaran fisika. Besar effect size model inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 3,208 dengan pengaruh 94,2%.Kata kunci: Inkuiri Terbimbing, Keterampilan Berpikir KritisThis study aims to describe whether there was a significant effect of students taught with guided inquiry models on critical thinking skills in physics subjects and how much effect the guided inquiry model has on students' critical thinking skills. The research was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The results of the descriptive analysis obtained an average score of critical thinking skills increased in the experimental class and based on the results of the hypothesis test with tcount > ttable (7.10059 > 1.66827),  it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of learning with guided inquiry models on critical thinking skills in the physics subjects. Abstract. Innovation in learning media is needed to improve critical thinking skills. The media used are learning media Student Worksheets (LKS) in the form of puzzles to improve students' skills. The research method used in this study is the research and development method (R and D) in it, including the use of descriptive models. The implementation of the R & D method is divided into three steps, namely preliminary study, development and testing. For the population is class VIII at SMPN 2 Kota Tangerang Selatan. The sample used for the trial was limited to class VIII and extensive trials in class VIII A as control class 1 and VIII B as experimental class 2 with Quasi Experimental Design in the form of Matching Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The results of data processing using SPSS Version 23, Anatest v.24 and Mc. Office Excel 2007. Based on the results of data processing, it was concluded that the development of Learning Media Student Worksheets (LKS) in the form of puzzles can be used by teachers as a tool to improve students' critical thinking skills. <p><strong>Abstract: </strong>This study aims to examine the effect of guided inquiry on different academic abilities towards critical thinking. The study was conducted by quasi experimental research with pre test-post test non equivalent control group design. Research subject consists of two classes. Critical thinking were measured by validated test. The data was analyzed using t-test at α=5% significance level. The results of the study are (1) implementation of guided inquiry have significant effect towards critical thinking, (2) academic abilities have significant effect towards critical thinking, and (3) there is no interaction between guided inquiry and academic abilities towards critical thinking.</p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh inkuiri terbimbing pada kemampuan akademik berbeda terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan rancangan <em>pre test-post test non equivalent control group design</em>. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas. Keterampilan berpikir kritis diukur menggunakan instrumen tes berpikir kritis yang telah divalidasi. Data dianalisis dengan uji t pada taraf signifikansi α=5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) penerapan inkuiri terbimbing berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis, (2) kemampuan akademik berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan (3) tidak ada pengaruh interaksi antara inkuiri terbimbing dan kemampuan akademik terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis.

This research aims to determine differences in mathematical critical thinking skills between students who obtain mathematics learning using Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Guided Inquiry model. The research method used quasi-experimental with matching-only posttest-only control group design which implemented in one of the Junior High School of Yogyakarta. The instrument used is a valid test instrument namely posttest with descriptive evaluation. The result of this research showed that there is a difference of mathematical critical thinking skills between students who obtain mathematics learning using PBL model and students who obtain mathematics learning using guided inquiry model. Furthermore, the average of mathematical critical thinking skills between a student who obtains mathematics learning using problem based learning model is higher than students who obtain mathematics learning using guided inquiry model.

This research is aimed at determining the effect of POGIL model teaching on the understanding of Natural Science Concept, Skill of Sciences Process, and Critical Thinking Capability of student in photosynthesis. This research is a experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The sample were selected randomly and the hypothesis was analized with Manova and t-test. The rsearch concludes that (1) there an effect of POGIL model teaching in understanding Natural Sciences concept (2) there an effect of POGIL model teaching on Skill of Sciences Process (3) there an effect of POGIL model teaching on the capability of critical thinking (4) there is simultaneous effect of the application of POGIL model teaching on the Natural Sciences concept, Skill of Sciences Process and in the capability of critical thinking.Keywords: POGIL, understanding Natural Sciences concept, Skill of Sciences Process and the capability of critical thinking

This research aimed to know students’ comparison between the process skills of science using controlled inquiry and free inquiry learning X grade at MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak. This research was based on the importance of the students’ skill in the learning process of the scientific chemical to encourage students to be active in the learning process. Using quasy experimental method of nonquivalent control group design. Data collection techniques used were observation and measurement techniques. The data collecting tools were measurement and direct observation. The data analysis used were non-parametical statistic using U-Mann Whitney test and the value of the Gain. The analysis value of science process skill test class between controlled inquiry and free inquiry using U-Mann Whitney test was obtained p value (0.004 < 0.05), means there was the difference between the process skill science students’ taught with the model of controlled inquiry and the model of free inquiry. The gain value used was to find out the most effective learning model. The analysis of gain value using free inquiry (0.79 with high category) was higher than using controlled inquiry (0.69 with medium categories). It showed that the model of free inquiry more effective than controlled inquiry model to improve the process skill of science on mass constancy material X grade at MIPA SMAN 1 Pontianak.Keywords: The process skill of science, Comparison, Controlled inquiry, Free inquiry, Law of mass constancy

This objective of the study is to find out the effectiveness of the Internet as a reference source for the classification of living things (1) in terms of students’ learning outcomes, (2) which was reviewed from the students’ mindmapping, (3) students’ learning outcomes dan students’ mindmapping. This was quasi-experimental study with the pretest-posttest control group design. The subject of this study was all of the grade VII students of SMP N 10 Yogyakarta. A sample of fifty-eight students grouped into two classes, namely class VII C and class VII D was established using the purpose sampling technique. The instruments used were a test to find out the students’ learning outcomes, observation sheets to reveal the students' ability in making a mind map, and the students’ response questionnaire to reveal the students’opinion on the internet and mind map. The hypothesis test used was T test and Hotelling`s T2  multivariat test (manova). The results of the study shows that the internet as a reference source on the classification of living things on the grade VII students of  SMP N 10 Yogyakarta is effective which was shown by the attainment of absolute gain score results for the treatment group. The score is 10, 14 higher than the control group, and the achievement of a gain standard score for the treatment group is 0.2 higher than the control group. The Internet has not been effective which was shown by the percentage result of the lower treatment class achievement compared with the control class's achievements in terms of the students’ mindmapping. KORELASI MODEL INKUIRI TERBIMBING BERPENDEKATAN SETS TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA AbstractCritical thinking skills in chemistry subject is still low. Teacher-centered learning is one of the causes of low critical thinking skills. The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation of guided inquiry learning model with the Science, Environment, Technology and Society (SETS) approach on students’ critical thinking skills at chemical equilibrium material. The research method was Quasi Experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design, and the samples were taken using purposive sampling. The samples consisted of 36 students in the control and the experimental classes. The research instrument consisted of 12-item essay test which represented 11 indicators of critical thinking skill. Data analysis was performed using the Independent Sample T-test through SPSS 22 version. The results of hypothesis testing showed a correlation of the use of guided inquiry model with SETS approach on students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class with sig values <0.05. The percentage result of the posttest data showed an increase in critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class. The conclusion of this study is that the use of guided inquiry model with SETS approach can improve students' critical thinking skills. The highest critical thinking skills indicator in the experimental class is inducing and judging inductions, while the lowest indicator is observing and judging observation reports.AbstrakKeterampilan berpikir kritis pada mata pelajaran kimia masih rendah. Pembelajaran yang berpusat pada  guru adalah salah satu penyebab rendahnya keterampilan berpikir kritis. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui korelasi model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berpendekatan Science, Environment, Technology, dan Society (SETS) terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi kesetimbangan kimia. Metode penelitian adalah Quasi Experiment dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design, dan teknik yaitu purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian sebanyak masing-masing 36 orang pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes esai sebanyak 12 butir soal yang mewakili 11 indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis. Analisis data menggunakan Independent Sample T-test melalui SPSS versi 22. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan adanya korelasi penggunaan model inkuiri terbimbing berpendekatan SETS terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas eksperimen dengan nilai sig. < 0,05. Hasil persentase data posttest menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas eksperimen. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa penggunaan model inkuiri terbimbing berpendekatan SETS mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis tertinggi di kelas eksperimen adalah membuat induksi dan mempertimbangkan hasil induksi dan indikator terendah adalah mengobservasi dan mempertimbangkan hasil observasi.

The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical learning design based on metacognitive strategies that are oriented to critical thinking skills that are valid, practical and effective in solid geometry. The research was carried out with stages in Nieveen's model that begins with preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment stage. The field test design uses the pretest-posttest control group design. Data collection used a validation sheet, student and teacher questionnaire responses, and test instruments of critical thinking skills. Respectively to determine the validity of learning design, the level of practicality, and the effectivity of learning design. Validity and practicality were analyzed by using deskiptif statistics, while effectivity were analyzed by Mann Whitney U. Classical completeness, critical thinking skills, and improving critical thinking skills of students who apply learning based on metacognitive strategies are better than conventional learning. Therefore the design of learning based on metacognitive strategies is feasible because it meets the criteria of valid, practical and effective to improve students' critical thinking skills.

This research aimed to examine the effect of guided inquiry learning model toward concept mastery and critical thinking ability of physics of X grade students of SMAN 1 Kuripan in academic year 2017/2018. This research was an experimental research with post test only control group design. The population of this research was X MIA students consicted of 3 classes with the total number of the students was 30 for each class. The sample was chosen using cluster random sampling technique. Technique of collecting data of the mastery concept and critical thinking ability using essay test. Gained data was analyzed using manova test. The result of hypotesis test showed , so it was concluded that there was an effect of guided inquiry learning wodel on the mastery of concept and critical thinking ability of physics of X grade students of SMAN 1 Kuripan in academic year 2017/2018.
