Since the first decade of the 21st century, when social networks have become a part of everyday life, socially-oriented activities of Internet users have been on the continual rise. By creating a profile on social networks, Internet users cease to be passive Internet content and information consumers, but rather turn into creators, who shape a dynamic space of new media by virtue of their activities and personal contribution. One of the most significant areas in which social network users introduce numerous changes and innovative contents is most certainly communication and language practices. Each and every social network most often ground their recognizability on a fixed set of communication genres available to their members and in that way determine how the members are going to communicate with each other. This has made all the polyfunctional languages, Croatian among them, respond with a rather swift expansion of the existing vocabulary. In my paper, I will be presenting most productive word formation methods in which Croatian language makes up for social networks lexical gaps and shapes the communication style on social networks and instant messaging services. The first is a semantic loan from the English or neosemanticism word formation (e.g. profil, prijatelj, status, zid, dodati, blokirati, notifikacija); the second is a lexical loan word (e.g. lajkati, postati, šerati, atendati, hejtati, trolati, folover, selfi), and the third is creation of abbreviations (pozz, nezz, bmk, jbt, dns, fkt). Emergence of this new and abundant lexical layer in Croatian language requires from us to register a number of new entry units in general dictionaries of Croatian language.

This study develops a conceptual framework for applying social networks in usual CRM models. Recent changing in customer relationship theme and putting new media and network-based paradigm into practice makes it imperative to find how social networks affect CRMs. Accordingly, this study explains the role of social networks in customer relationship management by using its analysis, tools and aspects of this concepts based on CRM models. We have provided a SCRM framework that is based on usual CRM models and incorporates Social networks and its tools, methods and analysis. The framework is combination of Social networks concept and traditional CRM concepts.

Background: Social networks have changed the dynamics of society in communication, commercial and social relations, advertising, among others. In sports, this would not be different. Along with this, the new media open up new possibilities for exploration of the image of the athlete, since traditional media conduct different treatments for male and female athletes. Objective: To verify the posts made on Instagram by Brazilian athletes and to verify if there are differences related to the gender of the athletes in the contents posted. Methods: The subjects selected for this research were Brazilian athletes and medalists of the 2012 Summer Olympics. The data were obtained through the collection of the images that the athletes posted on the Instagram and after that, the analysis of the images were made with the use of a checklist created for that study. Results: The results indicated that male and female did not present differences between categories of posted images. The most common type of images posted are the images in which the athlete is present, in places related to their work and in moments of relaxation. It also highlights the fact that most of the images posted do not make any reference to the sponsorships of the athletes. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that male and female have the same behavior of photo posting on social networks. It is also observed that the potential of social networks for advertising is still little explored by Brazilian athletes. Due to the originality of this work and because it seems to be a very pertinent theme in the present day, it is suggested the extension of this study.

Social Network Sites (SNS) have very rapidly become part of the daily reality of Internet users in recent years. Firms also use social networks as a two-way communication with their current and potential customers. This exploratory work means to analyze if Internet users’ gender influences the behavior of using social networks. There is a reason for this. Despite Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) acceptance and use being more frequent in men, according to the previous literature, in line with different surveys on the subject, social networks are more used by women. The authors, therefore, analyze in this chapter if there are gender differences in the constructs of technology’s classic models, such as the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) and the TPB (Theory of Planned Behavior). They use a sample of 1,460 university students.

The work focuses on the study of WeChat (main social network in China) and its digital activity for its advanced functionalities which build intelligent society in China. The importance of this platform lies in the prohibition of Western social networks in China.  For 7 years,  WeChat has evolved as a “super social network”, from an instant messaging application to a hybrid including application, marketplace, payment method and operating systemz, as an integrated means rather than just social network. In today's western world, almost no network can be compared with WeChat in terms of its functionalities. It is a good example of promotion and development of the intelligent society because of its advanced functionalities. The new usage and the rapid expansion of its integrated functionality and impacts form the new communication consumption framework in China. This work shows how an intelligent society changes and develops through a social network, and detailed analysis of advanced technology and social network of WeChat to give a good example to Westren countries which want to build intelligent society.

Social network has become a very popular way for internet users to communicate and interact online. The socia; networks provide a platform to maintain a contact with friends. Increasing social network’s popularity allows all of them to collect large amounts of personal details about their users. Globally, the issue of identifying spammers have received great attention due to its practical relevance in the field of social network analysis. Social network community users are fed with irrelevant information while surfing, due to spammer's activity. Spam pervades any information system such as e-mail or web, social, blog or reviews platform. The aim of this paper is to examine previous works in the field of spam detection in social networks, the study attempts to review various spam detection frameworks which details about the detection and elimination of spam's in various sources, By classification and Clustering Method of spam detection and by raising security awareness among the users of social networks and stake holders , by prescribing a strategic approach or data mining approach for analyzing the nature of spam detection on social networks.

The article deals with the results of a study on users’ behavioral strategies in educational social networks as Internet platforms for the communities of students and teachers who collaborate to solve educational problems. According to the analysis of the students and teachers’ activity on the educational social network of the Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University, the author has determined the groups of users with similar behavioral strategies, namely: community organizers, activists for communication and document exchange, educational assignment performers, information consumers, and inactive users. The author provides generalized portraits of each group, their numerical composition, as well as comparative characteristics in relation to other groups. The manuscript concludes that the presented groups reveal typical behavioral strategies of the users of educational social networks, which further development of educational platform tools, as well as pedagogical technologies based on their implementation should consider.

Abstract Instant messaging, texting, or even Computer Mediated Communication are the terms used to refer to communication in social networks. These terms are not the most appropriate ones because the technology and platforms of this way of communication have evolved rapidly. Since this communication is widespread, there is a need to have a much more standardized communication in terms of the language variety used for it. Having in mind various principles of socio cognitive approach in terminology, the study aimed to build a new appropriate term in this regard. Having in mind all the circumstances and the scale of standardization of this way of communication, I think that the best term that fits it is “Netlect”. This is done in order to include, using the same word, the name of the platform where this communication is being developed (net) and the paradigm for linguistic variety (lect), as in socio+lect, dia+lect etc. The case of Albanian and other languages goes in favour of this term because we are talking about “a language variety that never existed before”, as Ferrara, Brunner, and Whittemore stated earlier in 1991.

In the present study we investigated the level of new media competences of BiH politicians. Therefore, in the contemporary media (over)charged society, competences of new media are, by all means, a part of a broader media literacy phenomenon as a prerequisite of development of democratic society. In our research, we observed new media competencies from the point of presence/use of social networks Facebook and Twitter in order to promote/communicate with voters. In this context, research has shown that politicians in BiH still do not recognize the social network as an integral part of the political image, and that there is a sufficient level of awareness on the role and importance of social networks as an integral part of the „new media democracy”.

Abstract The development of social network sites not only facilitates the acquisition and deepening of knowledge but also provides the possibility of easily contacting foresters, specialists in natural sciences and nature enthusiasts. In addition, for some years already, Internet users have been able to make use of websites operated by institutions and participate in nature-related social network groups. The purpose of our survey was to evaluate the possibility of using the main fanpage of the State Forests and virtual nature groups in Poland and Great Britain to propagate knowledge about nature and forestry. The aim was to verify the recipient groups and explore the benefits derived by users from informal forest education as well as to determine how they assess the work of foresters or the reliability of the provided content posted on the portals. The research found that the majority of respondents use portals to gain knowledge and communicate with specialists whilst social networks are a motivating factor encouraging people to take advantage of recreation in forest areas by collecting mushrooms and herbs. Our results clearly point out the advantages and disadvantages of the State Forests’ fanpage and other nature-related social groups. The importance of social networks in education and communicating with the public is steadily increasing. Therefore, social networking websites should be refined and accommodate the constantly-changing needs of society as well as allow members of virtual groups to converse with foresters. The State Forests should support nature-related groups in attracting real enthusiasts. Organisational and substantive support for these groups would allow an increase in ecological awareness and knowledge about forest management directly from the practitioners.

Social networking sites (SNS), popularly called portals, are sites that combine multiple functions. Users might communicate by SNS with their friends, share photos and movies or participate in groups. SNS satisfy their users’ needs such as the need to connect or to self-present. These functions of SNS make them attractive. It is not surprising, therefore, that in recent years there has been an increasing number of people, especially young ones, using social networking sites. Facebook (FB)is the most popular social network in the world. Statistics carried out by FB indicate a rapid increase in the number of Internet users who make use of this particular social networking site. The article presents the characteristics of the phenomenon of school students’ excessive use of social networking sites. It defines the basic concepts, describes the diagnostic criteria for abuse of social networking sites and theories to explain this behavior. It shows the loss and benefits of excessive use of social networks and presents tools used in research to measure school students’ excessive use ofsocial networking sites.
