The article presents the results of studies of the influence of elements of cultivation technology on the yield of grain sorghum. Purpose. To investigate the influence of row spacing and plant density of sorghum plants of grain varieties Dnіprovsky 39 and Vіnets on the formation of indicators of the structure of crop yields in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods.Field, laboratory, comparative, analysis, generalizing, mathematical and statistical. Results. It has been proven that the best results in the formation of elements of the structure of the yield of grain sorghum were obtained when sowing seeds with a row spacing of 45 cm and a density of 150-200 thousand pieces/ha. With this sowing method, the panicle length was the largest and was equal to 28.5 – 29.9 cm in the Dniprovsky 39 variety and 28.3 – 28.2 cm in the Vinets variety, the panicle weight was 51.5 – 55.1 g in the Dniprovsky variety 39 and 54.8 – 55.4 g for the Vinets variety. The number of seeds in a panicle and their weight, depending on the increase in plant density from 150 to 250 thousand pieces/ha, decreased and the variety Dniprovsky 39 was from 1623 to 1592 pieces/panicle, and the grain weight per panicle was from 44.3 to 47.1 g. In the Vinets variety, the number of seeds decreased from 1536 to 1512 pieces/panicle, and their weight from 49.3 to 47.7 g. However, the weight of 1000 seeds was the highest at a plant density of 200 thousand pieces/ha and a row spacing of 45 cm and is equal to 31.2 g for the Dniprovsky 39 variety and 27.8 g for the Vinets variety. The grain yield in the same variant of the experiment is the highest and is 7.4 t/ha for the Dniprovskiy 39 variety and 5.1 t/ha for the Vinets variety. It should be noted that a decrease in the row spacing to 15 cm and an increase to 70 cm led to a decrease in these indicators. Conclusions. It has been established that the best formation of the elements of the yield structure of grain sorghum is observed when sowing seeds with a row spacing of 45 cm and a plant density of 200 thousand units/ha, which we recommend for growing this crop in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine.

The article focuses attention on the necessity of studying the peculiarities of the formation of switchgrass yield for providing productive areas with sufficient amount of seed material. An attempt to determine the dependence of yield on the elements of cultivation technology in connection with the weather conditions of the growing season has been made. The experiment on studying seed efficiency of switchgrass was carried out under the conditions of the Forest-Steppe using methodolo-gical recommendations of domestic and foreign authors. The yield of seed was determined by weighing method by weighing the seed material from each variant of the field experiment. In our study we used both general scientific methods (dialectics, experiment, analysis and synthesis) and special ones, among them: laboratory – the determination of quantitative indices of plants (height and density of stems); field – determination of the interaction of the subject with the object of research; calculation-weight – establishment of seed productivity and yield of seeds; mathematical analysis of interconnections and graphical representation of data in the experiment.  Complex influence of the cultivation technology elements during the contrast conditions of crop vegetation upon the switchgrass yield has been established. It has been determined that the weather conditions (average daily air temperature and rainfall) during the growing season influenced on switchgrass yield. The highest seed yield is formed by growing plants at a width of rotation of 60 cm, both wider and narrowed row spacings reduce this figure. The equivalent effect of biometric indices of plants (height and number of stems) on the yield of the seed of the switchgrass is determined. At the same time the application of spring crop yields to some extent offsets the negative effects of weather conditions.  Application of fertilizers in plant cultivation with row spacing of 60 cm – from 0.57 t/ha to 0.72 t/ha has the greatest influence on swithgrass yield. Both increase and decrease of the width of row spacing leads to decrease of  crop yield. Swithgrass yield depends on the height of the plants by 25% under the coefficient of correlation r = 0.51 and by 23% – on the number of stems according to the correlation coefficient r = 0.48.

In Ukraine, grain sorghum is an important grain crop used in bioethanol and solid fuel production. It stands out signifcantly from other grain crops by its economically valuable features, drought resistance, high productivity and universality of use. Grain sorghum is grown for use in the food industry (the main processed products are sorghum starch, glucosefructose syrups, alcohol, etc.), in fodder production and, more recently, in the energy industry. Therefore, the research of the elements of the cultivation technology, namely the sowing time and the depth of planting of grain sorghum seeds, is expedient and perspective. The article highlights the research results of the influence of the sowing time and the depth of planting seeds on the energy productivity of sorghum crops of the grain varieties ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ and ‘Vinets’ in the Right-Bank ForestSteppe of Ukraine. The purpose of the research is to establish the optimal sowing time and the depth of planting of grain sorghum seeds and to substantiate their influence on the crop energy productivity in condition of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. The research was conducted during 2016–2020 at the Bilotserkivska Research Station of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It was found that the highest crop yield was obtained by sowing grain sorghum seeds in the 1st decade of May at a planting depth of 4–6 cm. At the same time, the grain yield of the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety was 7.1–7.4 t/ha, of the ‘Vinets’ variety – 6.3–6.7 t/ha; the yield of biomass of the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety was 40.2–44.4 t/ha, of the ‘Vinets’ variety – 37.3–39.5 t/ha. The highest bioethanol yield was obtained by sowing grain sorghum seeds in the 1st decade of May at a depth of planting of seeds of 4–6 cm. Cultivation of the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety allowed to obtain 2.37–2.47 t/ha of bioethanol, the ‘Vinets’ variety – 2.08–2,21 t/ha. The yield of solid biofuel in this variant of the experiment was also the largest and amounted to 9.29–10.26 t/ha for the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety and 8.62–9.12 t/ha for the ‘Vinets’ variety. The total energy yield from the obtained biofuel of the ‘Dniprovskyi 39’ variety was 210.66–228.98 GJ/ha, of the ‘Vinets’ variety – 192.37–203.95 GJ/ha. Key words: grain sorghum, varieties, sowing time, seeding depth, energy productivity.

Grain sorghum is a drought-resistant crop and forms a high grain productivity and biomass as a raw material for the production of bioethanol and solid fuel in difficult soil and climatic conditions. The aim of the research was to establish the influence of sowing seeds method of the grain sorghum varieties on the photosynthetic activity of crops in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. Field, laboratory, mathematical and statistical. Results. It has been proved that the leaf surface area of grain sorghum plants reached its maximum during the period of "throwing out panicles - flowering". It was the largest when sowing with a row spacing of 45 cm and at a plant density of 150 thousand units/ha – 34.8 thousand m2/ha for the Dniprovsky 39 variety and 32.7 thousand m2/ha for the Vinets variety. With the standing density of 200 thousand pieces/ha, the Dniprovsky 39 variety has 37.8 thousand m2/ha, the Vinets variety – 35.6 thousand m2/ha and with the density of 250 thousand pieces/ha, respectively 38.2 and 36.9 thousand m2/ha. The photosynthetic potential also changed depending on the size of the assimilation surface during the growing season. It was the highest when sowing seeds with a row spacing of 45 cm and amounted to 1.13–1.29 million m2/ha for the Dniprovsky 39 variety and 1.10–1.22 million m2/ha for the Vinets variety. When sowing with the row spacing of 15 cm, this indicator was 0.86–1.07 million m2/ha for the Dniprovsky 39 variety and 0.84–1.09 million m2/ha for the Vinets variety. When sowing grain sorghum seeds with the row spacing of 70 cm, the photosynthetic potential was 0.83–1.03 million m2/ha and 0.78–0.95 million m2/ha, respectively. An increase in the plant density from 150 to 250 thousand pieces/ha of grain sorghum contributed to an increase not only in the assimilation leaf surface, but also in the photosynthetic potential. The high net productivity of photosynthesis was observed when sowing seeds with the row spacing of 45 cm and for the Dniprovsky 39 variety it was in the range of 3.36–3.94 g/m2 per day, for the Vinets variety — 3.32–3.81 g/m2 in day. Conclusions. It was found that with a change in the feeding area of grain sorghum plants, the assimilation surface of leaves, photosynthetic potential and net productivity of photosynthesis change.

The review considers the unique diversity and versatility of the use of sorghum crops. The dependence of the yield of biomass and grain of varieties and hybrids of sorghum crops on the applied elements of the crop cultivation technology is analyzed: width of row spacing, density of standing plants in different zones of sorghum sowing in the Russian Federation. A variety of soil and climatic conditions of sorghum cultivation regions differ in the temperature regime, the reserves of soil moisture before sowing, the level of soil fertility, which determines the need to select the optimal elements of technology that ensure the achievement of the highest yield of varieties per unit area with the lowest material and technological costs. The analysis of the ways of placing plants on the own area also indicates the significant role of varietal biological features in increasing the sorghum yield, the purpose of sowing, and the level of field contamination. With limited resources of productive moisture for high-yielding sorghum varieties with a powerful habitus, wide-row sowing with row spacing of 70 cm and the density of standing plants 80-350 thousand per 1 ha, depending on the variety. Low-growing early-maturing thin-stemmed forms of grain sorghum should be sown in the usual ordinary row way with a row spacing of 15 or 30 cm with plant density of 500-600 thousand/ha. Sudan grass varieties that can withstand high density of standing plants (depending on agroclimatic conditions – up to 1.0-3.0 million per 1 ha) are cultivated using the technology of spiked cereals. As the result of the literature data analysis, the following trend has been revealed: the drier the growing conditions, the greater the requirements for choosing the optimal parameters of agrotechnical methods of cultivating sorghum crops aimed at the reducing the number of plants per area unit considering the specific character of the region of sorghum sowing.

The research aimed to study the productivity of blackberry foreign varieties (Rubus subgenus Rubus Watson) in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe part of Ukraine as they are attractive for production due to their fruit taste and appearance. The task was to establish the beginning and duration of fruiting of blackberry varieties, to determine the yield level and the quality of the berries. A fi eld experiment was conducted on the experimental fi eld of the Scientific and Research Center of BNAU to assess the productivity of blackberry varieties. The studies were started in the spring of 2017 on blackberry seedlings with growing the culture in vitro in the biotechnological laboratory of the university. The tests included 5 varieties with climbing shoots: Smoothstem, Thornfree, Black Satin, Triple Crown, Arapaho. According to the results of observations, it was found that for two years of fruiting among the studied varieties, the earliest production was received in the Arapaho variety, in the first decade of July. Triple Crown, with the fi rst fruits ripened on August 2, was characterized by late fruiting. The Triple Crown variety diff ered by the longest period of berry coming – 35 days. The yield obtained in a year after planting is not an indicator of long-term crop yields. However, the Triple Crown variety diff ered by the highest yield in the fi rst year of fruiting, with an average of 3.7 kg of berries obtained from a bush. High yields were also observed in the Smoothstem variety. Black Satin variety was characterized by the high level of yield growth for over two years of fruiting, which amounted to 80 %. The largest in the fi rst years of fruiting were Triple Crown fruits with an average weight of 11.1 g. The maximum weight of individual berries of this variety reached 17.7 g. The Arapaho variety also stood out with its large fruits of 8.5 g on average. Some fruits reached a maximum weight of 12.1 g. Key words: blackberry, the beginning of fruiting, productivity, average weight of berries, duration of products supply.

The results of two-year research on the complex effect of different options of row-spacing width and the seeding rate on field germination and preservation of grain sorghum hybrids plants are presented. Problem statement. The conservatism of agricultural products producers, as well as the lack of adaptive technologies for growing sorghum, is a limiting factor of enlargement of sorghum sowing areas. That is why improving the technology of sorghum growing, which forms high and stable yields under arid conditions, is a relevant task at the current stage of country's agricultural sector development. The aim of the research was to determine the influence of various options of combining the seeding rate and row-spacing width on field germination and preservation of grain sorghum plants under conditions of the Northern Steppe of Ukraine. Research methods. Research on study the influence of three row-spacing width – 35, 45 and 70 cm and four options of the seeding rates of 100, 140, 180 and 220 thousand pieces/ha on field germination and preservation of sorghum plants of Svat and Flagg hybrids were held in 2019, 2020 on the basis of Farming Enterprise "Dyunis" of Kreminsk District, Luhansk Region. The area of sown and accounting plots was 40.0 and 30.0 m2, respectively. Research results. In experiments we have noted the tendency to increase field germination, under condition of the seeding rate increases and row-spacing widening. The influence of the studying options of the seeding rate and row-spacing on plant preservation was significantly higher than on field germination. On the crops of both hybrids, the influence of the seeding rate to a greater extent manifested on the options with row-spacing of 70 cm. Thus, with an increase in the seeding rate from 100 to 220 thousand pieces/ha, the plant preservation on the options with 35 cm row-spacing decreased by 3.5 %, while on the options with 70 cm row-spacing – by 6.7 %. There was no significant difference between the plant preservation indicators obtained on the options with row-spacing of 35 and 45 cm. With the widening of the row-spacing to 70 cm, this indicator significantly decreased. Conclusions. The studied element of the cultivation technology provided certain changes in the indices of field germination of seeds and the safety of sorghum plants. More influence they have on the safety of the plant, since the start of the growing competition between the plants is much less. An increase in the seeding rate caused a significant decrease in plant preservation, and to a greater extent with an increase in the seeding rate from 180 to 220 thousand pieces/ha. In the seeding rate from 100 to 180 thousand pieces/ha, there was no significant variation in the survival rates of sorghum plants. There was virtually no difference between the survival rates of sorghum plants in variants with row spacing of 35 and 45 cm, which indicates that within the boundaries of these row spacing, the competition between plants does not change significantly. Key words: row-spacing width, seeding rate, sorghum, hybrid, field germination, plants preservation.

Seed treatment with boron and molybdenum and rhizotorphine helped to increase the length of the stem. It generally provided better aeration of crops due to better light, which amounted to 87.9 cm for boron treatment and 88.5 cm for molybdenum treatment, increasing the number of seeds in beans from 7 to 8 pcs. However, the weight of 1,000 seeds decreased slightly, both for boron treatments up to 156.5 and for molybdenum treatments up to 154.3 g. In addition, the use of foliar fertilizers Nanovit Mono Bohr in the budding phase contributed to increasing the length of the stem to 91.2 cm, the number of seeds in beans to 9 pcs, the weight of 1,000 seeds to 161.4 g, and the yield level to 7.5 t / ha. In order to obtain the maximum yield of peas vegetable varieties of Skinado and Sommerwood at the level of 7-8 t / ha in the conditions of Vinnytsia it is necessary to add mineral fertilizers N40K60R60, (phosphoric and potash - under the basic cultivation of soil, nitrogen - under pre- sowing cultivation). Before planting vegetable peas, seed treatment with risotrophin, boron, molybdenum and as extra-root nutrition is carried out by Nanovite Mono Bor - 1 l / ha and Molybdenum Nanovite - 0.5 l / ha in the budding phase. Treatment of seeds with boron and molybdenum contributes to increasing the length of the stem, which in general provides better aeration of crops due to better lighting. Further study of the factors of intensification of the technology of growing vegetable peas, in particular, on the implementation of foliar infusions in the phase of seeding began to be needed.

The article presents the data of the field research on the influence of sowing terms with the temperature regime of soil and sowing rates of soybean seeds of Omega Vinnytsia type in the conditions of the Forest Steppe of the Right Bank. It has been determined that sowing terms with the temperature regime of soil at a depth of 10 cm from 6,8,10 and 12 ° C have different effects on growth processes and formation of generative organs on the plant. Optimal sowing periods were the most favourable for intensive growth and development of soybean plants were temperature conditions within 8 and 10 ° C. Sowing at a soil temperature of 10 cm at a depth of 6 ° C reduced the stem height at all seed rates. The height of the lower bean attachment was reduced, as well as the number of beans on the plant and seeds in the bean, while the safety of plants during harvesting was also reduced. Intensive initial growth of soybean crops at sowing at 12° C resulted in increased attachment of lower beans to the stem, but the number of beans per plant and the number of seeds in a bean decreased significantly. The research of the efficiency of sowing soybean types Omega Vinnytsia 600, 700, 800 and 900 thousand germinated seeds per 1 hectare shows at a rate of 600 thousand pieces, stem height, because of their branching, was lower than at the sowing of 700 and 800 thousand n / ha. Also, the height of the lower beans, the number of beans per plant and the number of seeds in the bean were reduced. The highest biometric indicators and the number of generative organs on the plant were observed during sowing with the sowing rate of 700 and 800 thousand n/ha. The increase of soybean seed rate up to 900 thousand n / ha deteriorated biometric indicators of plants and the formation of generative organs. The survival of plants increased at sowing in 6 ° C of soil temperature and with an increase in sowing rate above 600 thousand n / ha. The weight of one thousand seeds changes to a lesser extent depending on the timing of sowing and seed rate and its high indicators were noted at sowing in 8 and 10 ° C and seed rate 700 and 800 thousand n / ha. Increase of soybean seed rate up to 900 thousand n.p. / ha reduces the weight of 1000 seeds against other seed rates for 8-10 years. Years of research were favorable for growing soybeans and obtaining high levels of seed yields. The highest yield of soybean seeds of Omega Vinnytsia variety was obtained at the sowing rate of 10 ° C and it was at the rate of 600 thousand soybean seeds / ha - 36.0 centners / ha; 700 thousand soybean seeds - 44.7 centners / ha; 800 thousand soybean seeds / ha - 40.0 centners / ha and 900 thousand soybean seeds / ha - 38.2 centners / ha. The approximate yield of seeds was obtained at sowing at 8 ° C according to all norms of sowing of seeds in the same regularity as at sowing at 10 ° C. Increase of sowing rate up to 900 thousand n/ha leads to increase of seed yield but also to overspending of seeds and considerable decrease of individual productivity of plants. At the same time, sowing at soil temperature of 6 ° C was more effective than sowing at 12 ° C. and yield was at a rate of 600 thousand seeds. At the same time, sowing at soil temperature of 6 ° C was more efficient than sowing at 12 ° C, and the yield was at the rate of 600 thousand seeds - 27.4 centners / ha, 700 thousand seeds / ha - 33.8 centners / ha; 800 thousand seeds / ha - 29.7 centners / ha and 900 thousand seeds / ha - 30.6 centners / ha. And when sowing at 12 ° C, respectively, 26.4, 31.5, 29.1, 29.2 centners / ha. Key words: sowing dates, sowing rates, plant height, lower bean attachment height, number of beans per plant, number of seeds, seed weight, yield.
