The article considers the problems of deviant behavior in the modern Ukrainian youth environment. Features of the organization of leisure activities for children of deviant behavior are revealed. Improperly organized leisure has been shown to be associated with a significant increase in antisocial processes in society among young people, children, adolescents and other vulnerable groups. It was found that well-organized leisure activities will allow the social worker to change his view of the events that have taken place, to re-evaluate plans for the future and to identify priority areas for future professional intervention. In modern conditions it is necessary to pay attention to the need to find new organizational forms of involving children, especially with deviant behavior, in leisure activities in order to form a healthy lifestyle, distract them from bad habits, and prevent crime. It is proved that leisure significantly influences the formation of moral guidelines and values of children, their hobbies, interests and socialization in general. In the leisure sphere, their interests and needs, personal and social roles are realized, activity and creative initiative are developed, and new values are sought through the free choice of activities. The article examines the management of nonprofit organizations in the area of prevention and correction of socially dangerous forms of citizens' behavior. The study is of great interest since such organizations have a wide range of tools for addressing social problems of deviant behavior in society. The methodology of this study predetermined the use of system, monographic, structural and logical research methods, along with the interview techniques. Statistical data and interview surveys showed that the state provided little support to organizations under examination. Their main sources of income are customer funds and private donations, which creates barriers to their development. Based on the research results, the authors concluded that the state should support nonprofit organizations in the field of prevention and correction of socially dangerous forms of citizens' behavior, as they: 1) facilitate the implementation of interests of a large number of participants in public life; 2) address the needs of various segments of the population which require additional support and protection; 3) provide services that meet the specific needs of socially vulnerable groups requiring additional support and protection. Nonprofit executives should develop special tools to improve the quality of social services and increase organizational capital.

Background: Previous research has suggested that leisure activity may benefit mental health and protect against substance use among adolescents, but more research is needed to asses associations with a wide range of outcomes. The aim of this study was to assess associations between multiple leisure activities and (1) mental health outcomes and (2) substance use outcomes in a sample of Danish adolescents. Methods: Using data from the Danish part of the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD) collected in 2019, nation-wide cross-sectional data from 2,488 participants aged 15 or 16 in Denmark were analyzed to assess associations between number of leisure activity types and outcomes pertaining to mental health and substance use. Results: Our results show that engaging in multiple activity types at least once a week—as compared to one single type of activity—is associated with increased odds for high mental well-being, and reduced odds for mental health problems. Engaging in multiple activity types is also associated with reduced odds for overall substance use and for using substances as a coping method. Among those using substances, engaging in multiple activity types is associated with reduced odds of above average substance use. Conclusion: Increasing opportunities for adolescents to engage in leisure activities is suggested to be useful in enhancing mental health and preventing substance use and promoting mental health. Promoting and increasing access to leisure activities among adolescents could be a promising avenue for policy and practice.

The study (30 semi-structured interviews in 5 administrative-territorial units of Ukraine) covers men who have sex with men (MSM), middle-aged and elderly (over 35 years) to understand certain factors, which should be considered when planning new services or already those available in prevention projects. The authors tried to describe the lifestyle of middle-aged and elderly MSM as a power for mature individuals. The article describes that one of the main factors influencing the involvement of this socio-demographic group in the activities of HIV service organizations is the competition of the proposed services with other leisure activities, and the concept of services must meet the needs of potential clients (in the field of health, relationships with partners and their hobbies), daily life schedule and the use of ways to communicate with other members of the LGBT community. MSM and LGBT organisations should create a safe physical and psychological environment, advise on ageing, divorce, introduce safer models of living in stressful situations, support and shape behaviours aimed at maintaining health, forming a healthy lifestyle, and improving its quality both in the context of socialisation of clients, and preservation or restoration of sexual attractiveness and activity. Clients should be able to choose the services that best suit their needs from a wide range (including for same- and heterosexual couples) and how to receive services (with or without a visit to the organisation’s office). The organization of services should create a recognizable face of each organisation within the city or region and not offer the same set of services). The study has some limitations, mainly the impossibility of generalising the information obtained to the entire study population due to the purely qualitative nature of the applied methodology. The study group (MSM aged 35 years and older) consists of several distinct age groups, among which the oldest group had additional trauma in the past.

The social sciences have sophisticated models of choice and equilibrium but little understanding of the emergence of novelty. Where do new alternatives, new organizational forms, and new types of people come from? Combining biochemical insights about the origin of life with innovative and historically oriented social network analyses, this book develops a theory about the emergence of organizational, market, and biographical novelty from the coevolution of multiple social networks. The book demonstrates that novelty arises from spillovers across intertwined networks in different domains. In the short run actors make relations, but in the long run relations make actors. This theory of novelty emerging from intersecting production and biographical flows is developed through formal deductive modeling and through a wide range of original historical case studies. The book builds on the biochemical concept of autocatalysis—the chemical definition of life—and then extends this autocatalytic reasoning to social processes of production and communication. The chapters analyze a wide range of cases of emergence. They look at the emergence of organizational novelty in early capitalism and state formation; they examine the transformation of communism; and they analyze with detailed network data contemporary science-based capitalism: the biotechnology industry, regional high-tech clusters, and the open source community.

The relevance of the study is caused by the fact that today there is a significant interest of scientists, educators in the educational process of higher education institutions that train culturologists and have a wide range of opportunities to involve student youth in various socio-cultural activities. The author of this paper suggests that the professional training of future culturologists should be aimed at personal cultural orientation in the modern world; comprehension of the set of cultural achievements of mankind; mutual understanding in cooperation with different people, and conducting a highly qualified dialogue with partners of other cultures. It is proved that professional training of culturologists as participants of high communicative culture will be more effective and efficient if they master the main tool of their professional activity – the art of stage speech, which is considered to be an exemplary speech, the highest level of professionalism of speakers, actors, directors, teachers, journalists, culturists, organizers of cultural and artistic projects and other. The author notes that the technique of speech as one of the sections of stage speech is an essential basic component of the professional skills of a culturologist. Quite an essential issue in the article is the substantiation of stage speech as a cultural phenomenon of the culturologist's personality, his socio-cultural activity. The organisation and holding of various cultural and artistic projects are based on communication. The author draws attention to the fact that mastering the course "The Art of Stage Speech and Public Speaking" gives the future culturologist the opportunity to: 1) master the knowledge of the laws of technique and speech logic, the formation of practical communicative skills on the material of different genre and style of dramatic forms; 2) the ability to build a public speech skilfully and persuade listeners, in this way ensuring the performer of successful communication with the audience and its activation. The practical experience has been generalized, which shows that: the success of any cultural and artistic project, the theatrical mass program depends on a successful combination of personal qualities and professional competencies of the specialist, among which an important place is given to stage speech; the skill of the performer on the stage, first of all, is determined by the skill of mastering the art of stage speech; having respect for verbal action as the main means of creating stage life, the organizer of cultural and leisure activities acquires a rare force weapon, the strongest means of influencing a person and not only his consciousness but also feelings.

Abstract. Research shows that engagement in leisure activities promotes well-being among older adults. The objective of the current study was to examine the relationship between subjective well-being (flourishing) and leisure activities (total number of different activities in the previous year) in a sample of older adults in Croatia, thereby considering the variables of sex, marital status, financial status, and self-perceived health. The differences in the examined variables between the groups of older adults who reported to be engaged in new activities with those who did not were also examined. The sample of N = 169 older adults aged 60 years and above was drawn from a convenience sample of adult internet users in Croatia. Participants reported their self-perceived health and the number of leisure activities they engaged in over the previous year as well as completing the Flourishing Scale. Hierarchical regression analyses indicated that older adults who were engaged in more various leisure activities, who perceived better financial status, and who were married reported higher levels of flourishing. A comparison of the two groups of older adults with and without engagement in leisure activities showed that those engaged in at least one leisure activity were more likely to be women, reported higher levels of flourishing, and perceived their own financial status as better. This study indicated that engaging in leisure activities in later life might provide beneficial effects for the well-being of older adults.
