The paper discusses the ranking of journals based on the alternative to Scientometrics, where the basic unit of information is not the citation rate of publications, but their qualitative characteristics, obtained on the basis of the regular sociological survey of the economists’ community conducted by the “Journal of NEA” in 2020. The empirical data obtained made it possible to determine the size of the audience of each journal. The paper shows that the size of the journals’ readership has a direct impact on the respondents’ assessments of the quality of publications and scientific authority of the journals. The ranking of economics journals by each particular criterion — “Interest in Journal Publications”, “Scientific Level of Journals” and “Public Prestige of Journals” is presented. Use of the “Multiway data analysis” methodology has provided measurement not only of particular criteria that reflect hidden relations between their characteristics, but also determined the weight function of their aggregation in the aggregate ranking of journals — the “Ranking-2020”. The article also contains a comparative analysis of ranking the journals on the basis of the “Rating-2020” and re-rating of the RSCI and criticizes RSCI criteria “Science Index” and “Public Examination”.

The paper presents a review regarding the current methods of evaluating, ranking, and rating academic economics journals in Russia and other states – the USA, the EU countries and China. In order to do this, the authors introduce a common typology of analytical methods which includes bibliometric, peer review, network (invariant), hybrid, and consolidated algorithms for evaluating the quality of journals. The article shows that the differentiation of periodicals can be performed using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The authors explore the usage of so-called institutional filters, which are the rules for regulating the academic sphere via specialized tools for assessing the academic economics journals. The findings reveal that the trend established in the beginning of the 21st century concerning the application of international databases’ formal metrics in science policy hides a lot of threats. Among them status losses by some Russian academic economics journals maintaining high academic standards, which are not covered by international databases, as well as various consequences of manipulating practices and setting of obviously unrealistic targets can be named. The authors outline the conditions for the efficient usage of formal academic economics journals metrics as institutional filters. The paper proves that current analytical methods for evaluating the periodicals quality allow to carry out their reasonable and unbiased ranking for research needs of Russian economists.

Background. High and continuously increasing research activity related to different aspects of prevention, prediction, diagnosis and treatment of brain metastases has been performed between 1990 and 2010. One of the major databases contains 2695 scientific articles that were published during this time period. Different measures of impact, visibility, and quality of published research are available, each with its own pros and cons. For this overview, article citation rate was chosen.Results. Among the 10 most cited articles, 7 reported on randomized clinical trials. Nine covered surgical or radiosurgical approaches and the remaining one a widely adopted prognostic score. Overall, 30 randomized clinical trials were published between 1990 and 2010, including those with phase II design and excluding duplicate publications, for example, after longer followup or with focus on secondary endpoints. Twenty of these randomized clinical trials were published before 2008. Their median number of citations was 110, range 13–1013, compared to 5-6 citations for all types of publications. Annual citation rate appeared to gradually increase during the first 2-3 years after publication before reaching high levels.Conclusions. A large variety of preclinical and clinical topics achieved high numbers of citations. However, areas such as quality of life, side effects, and end-of-life care were underrepresented. Efforts to increase their visibility might be warranted.

The main purpose of the paper is to study the publishing trends of the open access business and economics journals available in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The online survey was conducted for collection of data and quantitative method was applied for data analysis. The data were collected from the December 10-20, 2013 about more than six hundred business and economic journals and later presented in tabular forms to reveal the findings in accordance with desired objectives. The findings show that 607 business and economics journals are listed in the DOAJ and are published fromthe 67 countries of the world. The maximum number of journals (88, 14.50%) is published from Brazil, and during the first decade (2001-2010) of the 21st century (382, 62.93%). The linguistic assessment shows that the open access business and economics journals are mostly monolingual (405, 66.72%) and the majority of these are published in English language (498, 82.04%). The results also reveal that the majority of the business and economics journals (415, 68.37%) doesn’t charge publication fees to authors whereas almost one-fourth (147, 24.22%) of the journals demand article processing charges. The study does not explore the whole World Wide Web, but only the DOAJ and therefore, figures do not represent the actual number of the open access business and economics journals available online. The study is very beneficial for the business and economics scientists, academicians, researchers, information experts and open access advocates across the globe.

Facing the Covid 19 pandemic, Indonesia is faced with the quality of essential health services that are still not optimal in various provinces. The main problems of vital health services that have emerged in West Java Province include the number and infrastructure of public health centers, the affordability of services and types of services such as maternal and child health, immunization, nutrition, environmental health and coverage of public health nursing performance. service quality variable, the theoretical approach of Fitzsimmons & Fitzimmons (2011) is used with Tangibles, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance and Empathy factors. The research method used is an informative survey approach by collecting data from library analysis sources and field experiments, including questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The sampling method used is Plain Random Sampling. The selected sample (n) was 92 people. The data analysis methodology used is route analysis. The results of the study reveal the positive and significant impact of policy implementation on the effectiveness of the quality of critical health services. In addition, it was also found that communication effectiveness variables that affect the quality of essential health services in West Java Province are also found

We study economic journals published in Russia and indexed in the Russian Index of Science Citation (RISC). We analyze citations of 466 journals for 2016–2020 and compare these journals using several metrics: total citation count, Hirsch index, Impact factor RISC, and Science Index RISC. We also use network analysis for citation graphs and compare journals by centrality indices: Copeland index and two new indices: Bundle and Pivotal. We found that “Voprosy Ekonomiki” is the only journal that is among the top-5 journals for all metrics. Other top journals differ for different metrics. We noticed that some top journals have a questionable reputation and the reason why they are among the top journals is a high number of publications, which makes classical journals less influential with respect to the metrics.

This paper was originated in an investigation carried out in the Municipality of Ecatepec de Morelos in the period from October 2019 to March 2020, and which served as support for the update of the Municipal Urban Development Plan 2020 for the same municipality. The purpose is to recognize the socio-environmental factors that drive the construction of human settlements in ecological conservation areas and that, in the medium term, alter the surrounding ecosystems and increase their vulnerability to geological and hydrometeorological phenomena. Through an environmental risk analysis methodology, the socio-environmental impacts generated by irregular settlements on ecological conservation areas are analyzed, as the houses are located in areas of high slope, it makes them more vulnerable to the phenomena mencioned. Even these areas are accessible to certain sectors of the population, in terms of rent or purchase of housing, such practices are usually illegal, and bring with them the deterioration of the existing natural vegetation, in addition to the loss of ecosystem services derived from the unplanned urban growth. These invasions correspond to a permanent process that includes complex variables, such as the deterioration of the quality of life, economic insufficiency to satisfy needs and in a synergistic way, generates social problems such as insecurity and violence.

Abstract Recent works reveal that financial attractiveness is a severe barrier to the GHG emissions reduction projects in developing countries. Because of price collapse of the carbon market since 2013, the importance of projects budgeting and forecast has risen. This article aims to investigate the financial information and disclosure quality of 432 projects of the waste management sector using UNFCCC’s Clean Development Mechanism as a Kyoto Protocol Instrument. The research used the qualitative content analysis methodology supported by NVivo® software. The results indicate that the lack of reporting standards and the poor-quality information lead to significant reduction of the audits utility, due to the uniformity, consistency, trustworthiness, and predictive and feedback qualitative characteristics of data presented. The real situation and the performance of initiatives are hardly known, but according to data activities, projects are continually compromised. However, the study concludes that the need for quality is a great professional and research field to explore.

This paper presents the results of a sample survey of economics journals and investigates the implications of unanswered questions raised in the literature especially those involving the supply side that is the production or input characteristics of journals. First, we explored the data using standard multivariate techniques. Based on the input characteristics, we were able to discern two rankings of 41 and 72 journals, respectively, depending on whether or not compensation data was included. Second, we specified a simultaneous econometric model using the Generalized Method of Moment estimator to extract significant coefficients for a priori specified parameters in the literature. The results offer newer insights on the ongoing question of the place of journals in the discipline of economics.

The current study investigated whether college students specifically have the prerequisite knowledge to use reciprocal information in their reasoning about covariation. Primacy effects on sequential processing tasks provided an opportunity to compare the use of single-cell information versus the use of reciprocal information in judgments about covariation. To investigate these issues, 72 students sequentially processed 25 slides containing dichotomous information about two variables pertaining to the performance of an imaginary tennis player, time of season and quality of performance. Participants received blocks of information (consisting of either identical or reciprocal information) either at the beginning or at the end of the slide sequence. Judgments about covariation, assessed using a conditional statement procedure as opposed to the traditional “rule analysis” methodology were not significantly different between identical and reciprocal conditions. In addition, frequency estimates provided for reciprocal cells were highly correlated. Although the primacy block was more powerful than the recency block, judgments between identical and reciprocal groups were similar despite the primacy bias. Results further substantiate the claim that people are capable of using reciprocal information in judgments about covariation.
